had a phone call from this number at 00:45 on Saturday night / sunday morning caliming to BT saying there was a fault with my bt broadband line, had no problems with my broadband emailed bt to complain they say it is not one of there numbers

This is the BT Business Billing call centre in America. They contacted me today on my mobile with regard to a work account. They are not selling anything, just returning an enquiry - from 2 MONTHS AGO!

This number IS for BT.
Its not a scam or any fraud going on...

Luckily we have the equipment to divert these and any other calls that we do not wish to disrupt our business so they never come through, but our system still alerts us if any barred numbers have attempted to call. If it is BT they are leaving themselves wide open for a very big fine if they are calling people as much as they are calling us. I believe it's more than three calls a day that is classed as harassment. They have called us eight times today already and I expect more. This is clearly harassment and anyone who receives calls to this degree should keep records of all calls and complain to ofcom. I shall be making a complaint.

It's BT customer service

Received a call from this number yesterday, got it, saying they're from BT but my mum + dad weren't home. Afterwards I checked on here, and then they called again today. I said to him that people have been saying this number is a scam, he said this is BT, but if you don't believe me then I can't do anything. And so I said goodbye and put it down.

Please note, this is a scam. I had a call from 0800 028 5085 from a person claiming to be from BT Collections. They knew my full name but had no account details, refs, subscribed services information. Lady, India English dialect, claimed I owed £200 and to make payment to avoid suspension of services. I queried the amount and caller was not able to give any breakdowns, etc. I refused to pay and called 150 to query. Operator informed me that first call was a scam designed to get money and card details. Beware!

I received a call from this number after reporting a fault with the BT line a few hours earlier - it's definitely BT - so I'm puzzled by some of the comments about scams etc.

Odd call just now - sounded like a scam so hung up.

Ralf, I think the scammers must be making this number come up on our caller displays by transmitting BT's caller ID.

Even BT wouldn't phone me on a Sunday at 5pm , more so as I'm on cable with Virgin.

BT may own the number but some scam artist is using it as cover.

i got a call from this number i answered it and it mentioned for the holder i said he wasnt in now im really suspicious if its bt or someone else

this number keeps calling me, make it stop!

This Number Belongs to British Telecom, as i got disconnected from talking to them via my mobile and they called me back from this number.

So, you can rest assured that this number is owned and used by BT.

It's BT technical services. the people you speak to if there's a fault with your broadband or something. Maybe they got yor number by mistake? It is a legitimate number for BT though...

harassing calls then they hang up

These just called my home phone, then mobile, then home, then mobile again. Wasn't sure who it was so didn't answer. Have emailed bt tonight (before the phone calls) tracking an order so i'm now not sure whether to answer or not???????????

About time someone had a bit of sence, such a bunch of paranoid individuals!

This is a BT telephone number!! **FACT**

If they are calling you, there is either something wrong or they need to speak with you regarding something!

Since reporting my neighbours telephone line as faulty to BTs' India Call Center, I have received around twenty "silent" calls from this number, which is "strangely" the same number as the 'genuine' BT India Call Center when they called me back !

If you reject BT Indias' "offer" to partake in yet another "satisfaction questionnaire" this is apparently their infantile way of 'getting back at you'  -  Bloody Pathetic BT - Get a grip or else !

I have started recording every call from these idiots & intend initiating legal proceedings for 'nuisance'  - even a 'service provider' can commit this offence !

It is indeed a BT "Fault Reporting" number & if you have a spare 3/4 hour you can work your way past all the answering machine to finally talk to a "live" person in INDIA - BTs' Call Centre.

If subsequently they "silent-call" you back dozens of times on this 08000285085 line and NEVER speak or communicate, then I suggest they are committing NUISANCE CALLS which are unlawful - end of story !  ( Especially if the number they call you on is NOT the BT number which was reported faulty.

The alternative explanation can only be that BT-India Call Centre are hopelessly stupid and technologically inept - which from MY experience is not true - so malice is playing a part here !

The standard communications ability of BTs' UK-based personnel is based on ill-informed arrogance - plus the ability to be a total pratt without working on it !

These jerks have just called me 3 times in the last 3 hours. I had several calls from this number, all close together, in April. I've just used *BT's* Right-to-refuse facility to ban nuisance calls from a BT number! There's a nice justice in there somewhere .....
