Yes. Its BT. I emailed them to try to get a better deal on my Broadband subscription. When BT called me back this was the number displayed. Managed to get a better deal and save a feq quid. Result!

Does it really take 32 pages of replies for people just to accept that this is in fact BT? I am in the process of a complex move for a customer - this number is displayed when BT call back to discuss (and may well be used for other BT departments too). Instead of a big hoo-har about who the number is, learn to press the green button and talk to people - it wont cost you anything for answering.

Lots of people saying it is BT - which makes me suspicious as I've had calls from this 0800 number and I am not a BT customer!

They are no doubt trying to sell me something, I'm TPS registered so that's a bit naughty of them.

I've had two or three from this number.  They said they were from BT, Now I wonder.  

In the same period I got an e-mail from BT, but BT now claim it was not from them.  
I had been having a great deal of trouble with BT Broadband and was refusing to pay my bill.  I had written to BT in Durham twice and once to London, the three by Special Delivery.  Then they cut me off.  Now I wonder who I paid the £185.00 bill to ?
In the same period I got calls from "Talk Talk" asking for my business.  At the time, because of the timing, I thought that BT had set them on to me, someone out to make commission.
I gave them details of my bank account:  I have just now, 18.00 hrs the 8th November, cancelled my order with "Talk Talk" and told them not to take any money, they said they will not.  A pleasant bloke gave me a cancellation number This untill I sort out who I paid the £185.00 to.
A telephone number I received by e-mail from <dc.corr.com.team1@bt.com> is 01977 597 283.  Each time I have called I get an answering machine.  When I checked 1471 for who called me I got the 0800 number above.

It's BT, had a call back from this number about an issue with my router they couldn't fix when I phoned them.

Are you quite alright?? i mean, unless i misunderstood the title of this website, it is rather about who's calling people...........and clearly this poor person didn't known it was BT. I think it's YOU could do with the anxiety pills lovey, getting soooo het up over a small post :)

Nice one vixen! Had a call from this number on both my mobile and land line at around 08:30 this morning. Funny because I signed a contract with Virgin yesterday and Virgin would have contacted them [BT] to cancel my contract. Reason for leaving BT - they charged me £4.99 per month for over 2 years for a service I've not had and they can't explain - they won't refund the money. Go with Virgin or Sky - much better service, much better price and far more reasonable to deal with. Craziest thing is that they've lost £50 per month by not refunding £120 that they shouldn't have taken - dumbass

Tom if your account has been credited by £30 then why dont you post a copy of that letter on here instead of slagging people off, sorry I forgot to tell people my account has been credited £1000 but I cannot prove this just thought I would let you know

This is actually a BT call center number it is completely legit when you phone up with a problem they ask for a mobile number in case they get cut of but when someone deals with your account sometimes there computer system trips and calls the backup number thats why they just hang up when you answer just had it explained to me when i phoned BT about a fault on my line

I have just rung BT to say I am not happy with my bill. Had to give him my mobile number so he could text info over. Now I have had four calls in five minutes from....coincidence or what...?

Definatly Bt - Just changed my phone number and they rung me back to confirm i was ringing from the exsisting number that i wanted to change so definatly BT guys and girls

The calls ( landline and mobile ) I had from this number today were from BT customer service advising me of their prompt action to an e-mail complaint I sent last evening. These calls were backed up by a personalised e-mail response confirming the action.

I received a call on my mobile from this number, purporting to be from BT and asking for a Mr Thompson.  I said there was no Mr Thompson attached to this number and the caller apologised (after being surprised initially that there was no Mr Thompson) and said Goodbye.  So I didn't get asked for any personal details (which I was dreading).

I just would like to know who is calling. I have had three calls from this number. I let it go to answer phone but they don't leave a message.

OK folks no need to panic the number is BT its same number if you have had a fault on your line or a bill problem i know this as i am a BT engineer

It is BT.
I work in communications and I deal with them all the time.
This number called me for an escalation I raised for external works to be brought forward as it was taking to long, the work required ducting and pole to be erected.
It is a specific department for external works and after sales, don't know why they are ringing all of you for, but there is no need to worry about your details. They have them all already!
On the plus side, the most helpful BT representative I've ever spoken to.
Now calm down, you all sound like illuminati conspiracists!!!
