A male voice requested my husband - who was not home. I thought it seemed a bit fishy as the man said 'Im calling from HSBC'. I was suspicious when he said, 'dont worry its just a service call. I'll call back later.' I looked through the HSBC phone book and couldnt find the number he rang in on. Very sneaky people around. My mum had the same call but they were apparently calling from Lloyds Bank and said they were in Bournemouth.

Recieved a call from this number today, it was a guy saying he was calling from HSBC and asked me to confirm my D.O.B i asked him why i should as he called me and he went on to say that if he confirms the month and year and i could confim the day he could continue, which i did.He then went on to explain that he was calling to offer me the new H.S.B.C Premium Plus A/C which offers lots of benefits and saving which i refused as bottom line you have to pay £12.95 a month for. I told him i wasnt interested and to not call me again.

Whenever this number has called me, it's been a survey.  It can relate to you personally (in my case, customer feedback from an appointment I had with one of their advisors), or it could be selling insurance, or a "plus account".

In my experience, if there is a particular specific query about your account, HSBC usually ring you from your branch-specific number, which I think is usually an 0845 one, or maybe a local one.

I have received a number of calls from this number.
It always seems to be at an importune moment in the working day.

HSBC are generally quite good a contacting costumers if there is an issue with their account - but when that's the case they DON'T call from a 0800 number it's from 08456 or 08457.

In my experience calls from 08000304909 are always HSBC service SALES calls.

This is fine if they have arranged to call you back to discuss a service as a follow-up to a recent request for service information from a customer.

If not - it is an intrusive cold call.

They have other means to issue information regards financial products than over the phone - such as e-mail and letter.

Had yet ANOTHER call from this number...why do people think that you're going to give out your security details and passwords to your account from a cold caller!?!?
If this really is HSBC, surely they would be more clever about their direct marketing campaigns?!!
Needless to say I hung up and asked them to remove my details from their cold calling list...

Got called today on my mobile by a Scottish woman on this number. Said she was from HSBC - it was a security check - she was going to supply half of my details - would I complete them? I said that I was wary of doing this - how did I know she was genuine? She told me to ring HSCB to verify this. I won't. Anyway - how did those bustards get my mobile number? I don't ever recall giving them this.. We're warned against any phishing emails - however plausible they appear. Why should this be any different? If they want to contact me, they can write me a letter.

Have banked with hsbc for years.
Because of continued calls from call centres staffed by idiots
I have now closed all my accounts.
Moved to Co-op , much better service-so far!

This number called me 5 minutes ago but I couldn't actually hear her clearly. She was murmuring and I just heard "HSBC" from her .  Then I accidentally ended the call when I plugged in my earphones... Good that I don't seem to have missed anything important from her!

I just had a call from this number today. A male voice also said: 'Im calling from HSBC'. I said i was busy and what is it about? He replied:'dont worry its just a service call. I'll call back later.'

I work for a bank and i always recommend to my family or friends if a bank calls you or be it anyone else, ask for their detials and go and find the companies main number from website or yellow pages and ring them back yourself.

Never give your personal detials over the phone!

This number has called me twice within the last week on my mobile and each time i have been at work so couldn't answer it.
If it is HSBC then they are missusing our personal details and as for contacting us on our mobiles, that is totally wrong and will be told if i answer it next time.

I've had this for the last week or so - poss about 3 or 4 times in that period. Just called HSBC customer services and they checked through my account to see if there was any reason why any department would want to contact me and they said not. She said it might just be a customer services call and advised me to ask which department these 0800 folks were calling from next time. She also said call back the main customer services department if there was anything that they suggested needed to be adressed rather than following it through with them.

Just received a call so would appear HSBC are still at it!
They do make it sound like a scam i.e. " i cannot tell you the nature of the call" "please confirm your identity" "please confirm security details"..
I would never divulge this information to a stranger calling me, there's no
message/email on my account and so i presume it was a sales call.
Like anyone would agree to pay £12pm for a current account when a rival Bank are offering £100 joining bonus, free overdrafts and excellent saving rates to all new customers!! Think i know what i'll do should the phone ring again!!

The intelligence levels of the majority of the population never cease to amaze me.

It's so obvious if it's HSBC or not. Even if you are unsure then just don't give your password to whoever it is. HSBC are not going to say "What is your password and security number please?" If they do, and you give it, then you deserve to have all your money stolen - well quite frankly it would be amazing if you actually had any money to begin with.

Likewise, if you don't like HSBC calling you with sales calls, then leave them. If you don't want to leave them because you get good interest rates / service etc.. then you have to put up with the calls. Simple.

I am of upmost belief that this number is genuine is not a scam. That being said, that does not excuse it for the disgraceful behaviour they have exerted upon me.

They call ALL of my phones - my landline, cellphone, business phone, and even my neighbour and daughters cellphone! To me, this is in-excusable behaviour. They call me asking to speak with 'Thomas Ulrich'. Even though I tell them he doesn't live here, they still keep calling and always asking for him. They call my daughter and neighbour asking to speak with me. It's just all a roller coaster ride that goes around in circles and never ends.

Like said, I am a busy woman and I don't need these imbeciles to keep calling me. If they call again, which no doubt they will as this is a daily occurrence, then I will be informing them that I'm taking legal action. They may me legit, but they don't have the right to do this.
