message left from this number with an appointment which i haven't booked asking me to phone back to confirm - I didn't so not sure who this is from.

just received phone call, came up with screen? on our phone display, as we have call minder and are also in the BT restricted calls list. Do not know who but the random letters for us read 'NOTSETNOSERVICEID'

I don't answer any numbers that I don't recognise on my mobile - this number has been ringing me two to three times a day and never leaves a message - leave a message and I'll call you back - isn't that how it's supposed to work??????????????????  I rang the number on my landline (permanently withheld) and it's British Gas!!!!!!!!!!  Well they will never get answered now!!!!

Yeap. It is a company saying that they are British Gas and asked me to confirm my details for security and wanted to reassess my payments. Unsolicited call. They wouldn't tell me what they wanted to discuss, whether the price was going down or up. I said, put it in writing. We will wait and see, hehe

this is driving me mad, despite me being rude and refusing there offers they constantly call

Just had this number call, to re-arrange a Homecare visit

That number is British Gas.
They called me last friady. and today, Monday, they''ve called me again, asking me whether they can give me a free quote on a new boiler.
Next time, I will just hang up on Britisg Gas, especially as they use outsourcred workers!!!

Silent call

Today i had my first silent call from 08000725230. As I live alone it is unnerving to receive this type of call. However, I feel like I belong to an exclusive club now. But thanks to all the people out there who have taken time to find out how and who to deal with it. Should I receive anymore I will know exactly what to do. On a cold wet and windy day when confined to barracks it will give me something to do to while away the hours. Love it.

Got a call and then just an automated voice reading out a list of what appeared to be random letters. Went on about 15 seconds and then it hung up.

Just received a call from this number saying they were British Gas and my DD payments needed revisiting.  They have never done this via phone before so was very suspicious.  Especuially when they asked me to conform all of my address and bank details.  I told them not over the phone and they promptly hung up on me.  Very rude!!!

Got a call from this number 01/09/13, 13.32.  The male caller tried to address me by name in a thick foreign accent and made a complete hames of the pronunciation.  So much so I assumed it was yet another scammer (two calls received already this morning from other numbers - think they compare notes) so I told him to get off the ****ing phone.  The above forum says 08000725230 is a marketing number used by British Gas.  For God's sake BG - if you have any queries write to or email your customers (like any reputable company) using your secure site for the latter.  And teach your staff English - it helps.

About time this sort of thing was outlawed, from posts here it is "British" Gas, well they should use some on their telemarketeers, bloody pain in the butt.

It's about time they lost the British handle form the company name, nothing British about the way they rip people off...

I have had loads of calls from this number to my mobile lately, so I just answer and hang up immediately. I have also been getting loads of TextMails saying that that a heating engineer is going to call on me -  it does not say he's from British Gas (but he is). I've never requested him to call so he's going to have a wasted journey as I will not be answering the door.

Yet another nuisance caller added to our caller display "Pest" list, which means they will never, ever, get answered by us. Surely, if nobody ever answered them they would eventually give up?

They'll also use this to contact you to arrange annual boiler and central heating checks, if you have a service contract.

What makes me laugh is they have a page on their site: "Did We Call You?"

Well, go on - have a go and enter 0800 0725 5230 and you'll get this response:


"We're sorry but there has been a problem

We've been unable to locate the phone number you have entered."


You can also supposedly opt out of marketing calls (cheeky gits seem to opt you in automatically....) but again, you'll find that harder to do than they claim.

It really is a crap company, good at nothing except robbing people blind.

I constantly keep getting calls at home and mobile why and what do you keep ringing for
