This number phoned my landline.  I checked it is NOT Brfitish Gas phoning.  Did not answer, but checkec number online.

I think you'll find that this is British Gas Trading Ltd., an authorised 'partner' of British Gas. It's a freephone number, so why not just ring 'em and ask 'em?

They called me earlier but left no message (that usually means it's a sales/marketing call of some sort).  Just rang the number back - it is British Gas, I listened to automated "press 1 for this, press 2 for that" then hung up. They are my supplier anyway so are probably trying to push me to have a smart meter. Their web site is pushing them hard as well.   I'll resist that 'free offer' until I'm forced to have one........Time based gas/electricity billing is just around the corner! No thanks.

I keep getting calls from this number.  The phone rings and then hangs up before my answerphone kicks in.  It may be British Gas, as others here have said, but I thought this kind of spread dialling by computer was illegal now!

i have been called on my mobile by this number several times but it only rings out for a short time and i can't get to it. today i pressed return and got BG menu, nobody knew who wanted me?

I thought I would treat myself to answering the phone today! British Gas apparently telling me I HAVE to upgrade to a smart meter. I told them (truthfully) I was mid switch to a different supplier.  The response was 'ok I will take you off our list' ...we shall see!

Continuous nuisance

Hangs up the moment you answer the call. Very annoying.

This number 08001512181 keeps calling at least eight times a day for the last week. I have had enough. I do not answer to unknown numbers, get the hint and sod off please, especially from a free-line as an 0800.

The British Gas website says you do not have to have a smart meter if you do not want one. Had a fight on phone with a BG woman over this. She said my name would be taken off the list and now I get phoned! Did not answer. If they do not have your bank details then you cannot be made to pay by direct debit which is a condition of a smart meter. Smart meters DO NOT save you money. This has been established. Nobody can compel you to give your bank details. In the light of increasing online fraud keep your bank details confidential.

Nuisence calls.  I never pick up the phone so they are wasting their time.

Reported this lot to the ICO last year. It doesn't seemed to have worked. Quel suprise!!
