I fed the number into Google and the response was that it's a cold call and/or a scam.  I did not answer - I never do.   It's maddening when the calls are to one's mobile.  I try to avoid giving out my mobile, but several organisations won't let you order or book anything from them unless you feed in a mobile number.    Teco's for instance whom I would have thought had better sense.

Phones my  number quite frequently. I let it got to voicemail and they never leave a message so it's not important. This type of calling should be outlawed.

called from 08000725230 every day call goes blank then a person talks and talks and wont shut up they make me sick its british gas trying to sell other products just get lost its called cold calling i didnt expect that from british gas im reporting them

British Gas just don't listen.
I spoke with them yesterday and I said I was not interested.

First time I have had it.  A pre - recorded voice said on the answerphone 'If there is anybody there, please press any key.' That was all.  Didn't say who they were.Didn't bother

Some [***] claiming to be from British Gas trying to get some money out of me. Oddly enough I put the number in BG's own 'did we call you' and it comes up as an error message.

This number has called several times before and when I enter the number on British Gas website it doesn't recognise the number - so it's NOT them! I've complained to information commissioners office re BG before having complained directly to them re sales calls. I never pick the phone up to numbers I don't recognise. If you don't leave a message, then it's not important. If it is important leave a message or email me.

I'm fairly certain it is British Gas. If it is then they may be in breach of Ofcom regulations. If they dial out and present a CLI like they are they should at least have a customer announcement for customers calling back on the 0800 number confirming who it was calling you and why.

It seems that that they have no inbound route setup for the number therefore you only hear an operator message telling you that the number is not in service. Pretty shoddy configuration on their part.

Details of how to check if it is a genuine British Gas number appear several times in this thread.    None of the previous checks have produced anything to verify that you are correct in slagging off BG.

I just had a silent call from this number 08000725230 and reading on this valuable website I see it is from British Gas Telemarketer. So I have barred the number on my Panasonic DECT phone that should stop their nonsense. calls.

i recieved a call from this number 0800 072 5230, i saw this page when i googled a number. i called british gas and they confirmed that its not thier number and no call was made from them to me! i  wouldnt answer it, ususally these guys leave a message for you to call back on!

Got a call from 08000725230 on my mobile saying they were calling for as I bought a boiler from British gas- they would like to offer me free boiler care with having bought a boiler from them in the past- then said that it would take 4 minutes to set up. I asked how long it would be free for - the guy seemed panicked and said it won't be indefinite. Said it was just a marketing excercise. He promised to ring back but didn't. I then a few days later received a call from a lady claiming to be the same however this time offering pipe and electric cable cover- normally £5.60 a month and I would get it free for 12 months- I just need to give some more details and I would have to sign something in the post. Promised they wouldn't ask for bank details. I then decided not to proceed after stupidly giving my address. I have contacted the proper British Gas direct who said they thought the number was theirs but that the offer was for free cover to new customers who decide to buy a new boiler from them so as an extra offer but as far as they know they aren't offering homecare to any old customers. It is a shame that I've been pestered and I've wasted time to check out if this is genuine or not. Best not go ahead with whatever they are offering and always check direct with the company.

They call everyday even on a sat for two months now and getting very annoyed

Had tow calls from this number.  No message left etc......I call ed the number both times to get my number removed.  They were calling my work DDI!  First call to them on 5th June 2015 resulted in supposedly being sorted out - apparently a incorrect digit in the area code.  Did this sort it out? NO!

Got another call on 9th June.  same story - no message but it was British Gas Trading Services Ltd.  So on 10th June I called them again and got through to a great guy when I chose Option 2 (incorrect name and address).  Spent almost 50 mins on the phone and he was really helpful (Josh) trying to get to the bottom of the problem as my work DDI was not an active account or telephone number on their system.

However, watch out for a follow up call from 08009801071 to check all was good with your recent encounter with BG!!!!!!!

Been called by this number twice.  I entered the number into the British Gas website.  Number was not recognised by them!  Haven't bothered to answer the calls - just sick and fed up of receiving calls from people trying to sell you something or trying to get hold of your personal details.  Phone line providers to these companies should be brought to task - they must be making a fortune!

Had this number phone me twice now. Only rings four or five times. Guess the guy making the call gets a bit bored. Tough Shite. Don't forget , they are only after your money

Got a call to say it wasn't a sales call (yeah right!) but they were upgrading the gas and electric meters and when could they do the work. I said I wanted it in writing and the decent sounding bloke said he would take my number off the calls list. Job done!
