It's BT calling about a line installation I've ordered.

So this number is NOT calling to chase an unpaid bill, if you 'know' that then looks like your the one who didn't pay YOUR bill!

I've just left BT and made a massive email complaint to them. This was BT (someone in the UK) calling me about it, and gave me a tiny refund for part of what I was complaining about... but as I've already given notice there wasn't much else to discuss

The Call Type doesn't fit any of the categories - at least they tried to explain part of my complaint...

It is from BT and it was about an installation I had ordered. I was driving and they had also left a message on my works land line about the installation.

BT? just called my mobile and left no message. I do not answer numbers I do not reconise. If it was BT, why not leave a message. "This is BT we will call again later" type message. Strange thing is that I am not with BT, left about 20 years, and EE for mobile.

I have just spoken to a BT engineer on this number so its a general out going number they use.

Just had a call from this number which I didn't answer, but got ansaphone message. It was a genuine call from BT just confirming an appointment for 2 days time.

So why did I get a request for a reversed charge call from this number advising that a charge of £2.40 or so would be charged to a BT landline (which I'm not)!  I stupidly accepted the call as I could not hear who made the request  and I thought it was one of my kids run out of money.  It was some bloke who said his name was Karl and when I said 'who are you and why are you calling me and reversing the charges?"  He said 'oh are you not the 'Halliday' (or something like that) household? I said 'No I am not' and hung up on him.  Haven't had my bill yet although I did fruitlessly contact my provider to find out whether and how much this cost me, so am not sure yet?  A bit creepy ...........  My provider said I should phone that number (not my provider's no.)  back in a few days time to ask if I had been charged which I thought was a strange thing to suggest and I probably won't.

Just had a reversed charge call too - didn't catch the name of the requestee so I thought one of my kids run out of money and I accepted.  I asked who it was and a bloke answered 'Karl' - I said I don't know you so why are you calling me reversing the charges?  He said 'Oh are you not the Halliday (think?) household?  I replied no it isn't and hung up on him.  Phoned my provider to query about charges for the call giving them the no,  Not very interested and said too soon to know.  Advised me to phone back the o800 no. in a few days and ask them direct if I had been charged for the call which I thought was a strange thing to request and I probably won't (said to them what you had thought - what if it's some hoax and they're charging me the earth)?  Didn't get anywhere and she said I'd have to wait for my bill to find out!  Left me feeling a bit creepy ........

Came through to me as reversed charge call from somebody called Karl who I didn't know!  I'm not even a BT customer although I do pay my bills!  Just waiting to see whether I will have been charged the £2.50 reverse charge call they intimated on the automated voice message before I stupidly accepted the call. Thought it was one of my kids run out of money.  Slightly different scenario to what you are suggesting so maybe best not to be such a know all!

It is not BT. Recorded message about finance.

It is an Indian call center working on behalf of BT. Add that to everybody else's experiences it must be a generic number.

It is a recorded message concerning PPI. It is not BT!

Call received from this number and message left - it is from BT - concerning a visit I am expecting from an engineer so it is genuine.
