I can only totally agree with 'Angry of Aylesbury' - These calls bug me and a company such as BT should be better organised!

In any case, as this will be an attempt to sell me something I don't want, I'm glad I missed it.

this is a BT cold calling number which they use to offer you BT services,is is automatically generated,,I have TPS already but BT think they have the right to overide this and cold call you anyway,,to get rid of this you have to call 150 go to option 4 and then 5,you can then ask to be given" BT PRIVACY!!",it took me 5 calls to find this option,,and then BT promise you will receive no more calls from this number

Just got a call from this number, Claiming to be BT, and according to this site, it is BT, but NONE of their so called data matched my account, I was therefore suspicious that it was a scam.

This is the number that gets displayed if someone within BT tries to contact you, I have also seen it presented on a ringback test (17070) which previousley displayed Withheld and also on an automated reverse charge call via 100.

Had a call from this number at 1815 turned out to be from BT .They offered me free of charge evening Local and 01 02 03 Numbers as I paying the same rate as those that do use this service. They are going to confrim in a letter.
If this is a scamI will post a comment but the only question I was asked was Thinking of staying with BT for the next year

Ive just had a phone call of this number and i think the bloke on the other side was Indian and i couldnt undertand a word he was saying to me, but i heard him asking me to confirm my address and stuff..so i hung up on him and ive had 4 more calls off them, but i didnt pickup. If it was that important they would leave a message or send me a letter!!!

BT are conducting a campaign where they call customers and offer free evening and weekend calls.  The call centre has an auto-dial system.  If no assistant is available when you answer the auto-dialled call then the system clears down and you don't hear anything.  This happened to me but shortly afterwards I received a call from the same number which was valid.

In this case there doesn't appear to be anything underhand about the calls but it is easy to set up an outbound dialler that appears to come from any number.  So be careful when dialling back, especially if the number doesn't start with 0800 (free in the UK).

I just had a call from this number too, they never left a message and I'm getting really fed up with people ringing, either with number witheld or using the BT number 08003289393.I'm registered with TPS and have been for years but we still get unwanted calls!!

I did a quick search in google on this number before answering, it was deffinately BT calling me regarding a dispute I made about an amount, he had already gone through and talking about my personal information before I could confirm it was actualy me. 100% genuine.

OK most comments err toward the paranoid or the smarmy. It's clear this is a displayed BT switchboard number and could be about ANYTHING related to BT. The comment from "youlotarealllosers" or whatever his name is, about not paying your bills just tells us that HE hasn't paid his bill, hence his call from this number. What an idiot.

Anyway, what I think is that due to the data protection act, the various BT departments (usually sales it seems) DO have access to your data but wouldn't admit that to you on the phone as it would be clear they are pooling your data and probably breaking or at least bending the guidelines or personal data.

The reason for the incoming call is never anything essential though, it seems, as I did call BT back (those wonderful Indian call centres...) and they had no record of any outgoing calls in the last 6 weeks (I'd received a missed call today), but he admitted it may very well be the sales department.

Damn BT.  This number has been leaving blank messages on my answer phone for the last couple of weeks.  I'm registered with the TPS and BT Privacy.  

I'm also on paperless billing, but they still insist on sending me a letter every few weeks, if it's not bringing my calls back, it's credit cards!

I have made a complaint via their web page.

These people rang me at 12:17, when I had just finished painting doorframes, and was washing up/preparing lunch. My response when they asked if they could speak to me: "No you can. I'm not interested in canvassers". I spoke using the diaphragm, which is a forceful way of speaking, and avoids shouting.

Perhaps someone will be careful in future.

Caller hung up just like others mentioned.

Received about 10 phone calls from this number, this morning. When I answered, someone said "Hello" and hung up.  I 1471'ed the number and redialed it and the answering machine said "Thank you for calling BT".

I'm not even with BT or have a BT landline!!!!!!

Anyway, if it continues, I'll gladly report it to Ofcom. :]

They Called at 14:07, heard the ringing tone as if I'd dialed them, and hung up instantly - add another quirk to the nuisance callers' bag ...

I got this number today - of course they hung up a soon as i answered - its the last time I will pick it up as i have caller display.
