they called me several times and they just hang up.

I'm fed up receiving calls from this number even though I never answer them. Similarly, if its important they can leave a message!

They are still calling - just got one. As with the other recipients,
they hung up when I answered.

They call me four times a day.  I never answer and they never leave a message.  Something should be doene about this.

I received a call from this number today.  I answered and the caller hung up.  Who was it?

I've had several calls from this number, when I answer the call hangs up, when I call back it is BT saying I didn't answer.

I got a call from this number @ lunch time. i never answer numbers that i don't recognise. They never left a message.
If this is BT i cannot understand why they are calling me. we have cable and its not in my name. so there is no reason what so ever for them to call me.  I' m already on TPS!! If what Jack above says is correct its bloody scary. But i have nothing to hide.

This is BT's National Presentation Number.  It will show up for pretty much any call from an extension phone in a BT office in the UK.
You can ask BT to stop calling you for sales or marketing purposes:-
* Residential (home) customers call 0800 800 150
* Business customers call 0800 400 400

I just had this number call me and it hung up?? LOL, looks like i am not the only one! I hate phone calls that with hold numbers and numbers that just hang up it could be from anyone?... burglars checking to see if anyone's home. I get paranoid about leaving the house after these type of calls.

Am totally FED UP of this BT number calling my phone and I usually ignore their calls and they leave no message.. I have answered a couple times in past months and told them to STOP calling me. I am disabled so getting to the phone is a problem for me sometimes.
I have told them this and told them to STOP calling, but still they do, several times a week usually. Just had another call now at 14.20 on 10/10/08. Is there anyone at BT to complaint to?? I'm on TPS and also informed this BT number to take me OFF their list, to no avail.

Why isnt caller display free, afterall it doesn't cost 'em anything.
Won't bother to ring as I've got 1571, they could have left a message.
While we're at it. why isn't 1571 free, they get paid by the caller for the message.

This number is a voice activated dialler, so you'll get a reply, if you answer, assuming its working. It has rung me around 6 times in the last 2 weeks. Today i was lucky enough to talk to them, and it was B.T trying to sell their bt vision. I think if a person is nearing the end of their contract, their number will appear on the dialler list more often than others, also depends on what products you have, so happily tell them your not intrested, and this should get your number removed, from their dialler.

Received several missed calls from this number, when I did manage to answer it it was from BT trying to get me to sign up to BT VISION.

Ironically calls stopped after I posted on here last month, but 1 month on and they've started again! Sounds like it's worth having caller display just to prevent the annoying feeling of having answered these calls.

Just had a call - glad i gnored it if i don't recognise the number its not going to get answered. They will be wasting their time and if it is BT then I will cancel my phone line with them I constantly get sent offers of cheaper deals from other companies.

They hang up every time they call me.  However, I can also confirm that it is BT.  They rang again just now and I answered quickly as I'm next to the phone.

In explanation, their equipment dials multiple numbers at the same time when one of their operatives terminates a call.  Once someone has answered the call, the other calls are automatically terminated.  They'll keep calling you automatically until you're the first person to answer.  Once you've spoken with them, they stop calling you.
