Regularly receive unsolicited calls on my business number (which is usually on voicemail but it is still persistent and intrusive). Would like them to stop.

Just been called today about 8am and they say they are from D&B but like the rest of you guys very difficult to make out the strong accent. I too am reg with TPS & FPS. Trouble is that a majority of my customers are from overseas so when I fist hear the accent and them asking for me by my name & not my business name I assume they've been to my website and they could be a cusmomer. I only confirmed my name when he asked to talk with Mr...... it didn't take me long to figure out what he was on. Like Ian Glover above I too have a little fun with them although at 8am my reactions are about as slow as theirs :-)It's great fun to mess up their script flow by talking over them and asking them personal questions! Apparently the caller did know who his father is!

had a call at 1.51pm on 23/12/08.  Fortunately was out.  Also on tps etc but do have a website and '.co.uk' e-ddress.

Have just been called by this number 3 times in five minutes. Luckily (or not) I was at GP so didn't answer.

First time I've found this website and I also hadn't realised that you could register mobile numbers with TPS as you couldn't last time I looked so have done that

D & B Ltd aka Dun & Bradstreet purveyors of business information.

Called by this number on "our" buisiness line.

Man asking for conformation of company details for ?credit checks? and some kind of a ?directory?.... only got as far as confirming website before telling him I'm not the owner but an empolyee (which I am officially) so therefore was not in a position to confirm ... he still carries on regardless even when I ask him three or more times to speak to the business owner some other time as he's not in right now.

He said he was from BNP or BMP or B&P... still not sure!

She said that she had got my name from directories and business journals.

A call back to the number reveals it to be D&B Ltd, although it is spoken very fast.  She did not deny being from Dun & Bradstreet, who have been credit reference agencies as far back as I can remember.

All the information she seemed to have is available in the current phone directory - my personal name, phone number and address.  That is all she had.

She wanted to confirm my 'business details'.  When pressed, all she had was too basic.  I gave her no information at all and, saying that I didn't believe her, I put the phone down.

Called today and asked if we were a business or not and said some other company name that we used to be known as I said she had the wrong number but she wouldnt give in and was asking for our company details, I dont think so mate.
I just said - Sorry, wrong number and hung up.

D&B Ltd (Dun and Bradstreet, 08003580884) DnB.com get information from or about your business, and sell it for around £275 (US $400). That is an excellent return on a phone call made by D&B. It is a 165-year old recession-proof business, making money from the information D&B compile. Most of their information, costing $400, is dated, incorrect, wrong, inaccurate, incomplete. How does that help info buyers to manage/reduce credit risks and/or improve marketing? How is that good return on $400 investment for the info buyer who can get upto date, accurate, complete and right info from the UK companies house.

Just noted we had a call from these too. What is it about Manchester and junk callers? I am getting to the point of pretty much ignoring any calls that originate from an 0161 number (though realise here they are using an 0800!)

got a call from this number today a recorded male clearly spoken voice said it was an automated call, no need to worry & that if i needed to check up i should call this number 'D & B' the caller id on the landline was witheld

Had an identical call to stase

Witheld number which, when answered, was an automated call stating that it was on behalf of "D&B" checking information for a database and giving this number.

Doubtless this means I'll be inundated with calls now they know the line gets answered...

An 'automated call' today. The message stated that 'D & B' were updating their database and there was no need to take action, but to call 0800 358 0884 for further information - which I will not. If this really is Dunn and Bradstreet, then I'm a monkey's uncle.

Automated call from 0800 358 0884 'verifying' my number for their database. Number recognition did not show any number. I am registered on TPS and they should not have been calling me.

Just received an automated call. I HATE these. Would ring their neck if I could get hold of them! Parasites!!!

They are clearly back with their new toy. D&B (as they choose to call themselves now) were an old respected company and are now behaving like the worst type of cowboys. I got an automated one and could get the number again on 1471.

by allowing them to make more bloody cold calls that is.

What a low strategy, and have the bloody cheek to charge us 10p a minute (on Virgin) to complain. I'll do it here, it's cheaper.
