I got an automated call today. A recorded voice said it was just verifying my number, but if I had any questions, to call 0800 358 0884. I'm registered with the TPS so they shouldn't be calling me. I'm unsure what to do. The automated message mentioned a company - but I didn't catch it... it was three letters, such as DBG - or something similar.

Have received phone calls and faxes from a company called Moreton Smith, agressively asking for money on behalf of another company for an image which we aren't even using on our company website!!  They are asking for bank details.  Its a scam

this number called me today with a recorded message. A mans voice says that they are checking telephone number details and that if I wished to know any more then please call  0800 3530884. I'm betting this is a scam to get me to call a premium number or its a way of maintaining a huge database of business telephone numbers that can be sold. Whatever it is we are TPS and I am furious that these people still bloomin' phone!

I was expecting a call from a relative abroad, to my disappointment instead I had a moronic recording about checking my phone number and telling me to phone 0800 3530884 if I wanted to know more.
I want to know LESS from these morons.

I received a call this afternoon. It was a recording and the very English voice said he was from DNB (?) and verifying the phone number and that I needed to take no action whatsoever. He then gave out the phone number 0800 358 0884 if I had any concerns. I registered with the TPS and also have a ban on anonymous callers. When I did a 1471, I heard the message "we do not have the caller's number to return the call" which means that it either originated from outside the UK or they are using a computer to make the calls.

Received a call this afternoon with recorded English voice for what I thought sounded like DMV (although, reading this thread I may have misheard) saying this was an automated call to confirm telephone numbers. If I had any queries I was to call 0800 3580884. Caller number not available.

Waste of my time and a worry that I am going to get more calls!

Just had a recorded message call from a gentleman telling me he was from what sounded like D & B, verifying my number and if I had any concerns to ring 0800 358 0884.  What a rude and irritating way to communicate with someone and why does he need to verify my number?  Am registered with TPS & FPS.  Having verified this number exists I suppose we shall now get the pestering phone calls.  These morons should be outlawed!

Got a pre-recorded message from this number saying they were D & B and they were just confirming phone numbers.  We are on the TPS and have no dealings with the company - extremely annoying

Got a call at work today from this number claiming to be D&B, Dun & Bradstreet, asking for updated information on our company but they had most of it anyway (probably from Yell.com).  Sounded like an internet based directory to me not an international company like D&B.

Asking to confirm business details, keep getting same call.  Then got call from BT same day asking to review our account.   So gave them a tirade about SHYTE service, and their lack of accountability.  Anchors!!!

This company calls regularly despite my saying I'm not interested

Had a call from these morons today. I was busy but I answered to phone only to hear an automated message saying they were 'confirming my number and to call DNB on 08003580884 if I had any concerns'.
What a damn cheek and waste of my time. I'm sick of being disturbed by uninvited calls from dubious companies like this. Maybe each company thinks they're the only one doing this? I get days where every call I get is from some marketing company or other wasting my time, yet I have to answer the phone just in case it's important. These morons should all be SHOT.

receved a call today formt his company.  Very difficult to understand their accent and had to keep repeating answers as they didn't understand me!

Like everyone else these calls are very annoying and wasting my time!!

All my staff are now told to ask the caller what product THEY wish to buy from us and are they paying by credit / debit card.  That might stop them.

Been called several times by them. Each time we ask them to take us off the database, but they are not interested in doing so. We are registered with TPS and these calls are technically illegal. Ring and register a complaint with BT (or whoever your phone provider is). Also report them to TPS.

Finally, don't forget to report this to your MP. Currently cold calling with autodiallers is supported by the UK government. This is to "safeguard" jobs in call centres. So it seems the profits of these worthless organisations comes above the privacy and well being of the public.

Obviously more back-handers to those corrupt politicians. Why else would this unethical and clearly wrong practice be protected.

I just got a call from this number,
It was an automated caller, and it said.....

"This is DNB (or DMB). No action is needed, we are just verifying phone numbers"

So I expect I'll get bombarded with junk calls now. bugger.

I just got a call from "Out of Area". They gave 0800 358 0884 as a contact number. This is Dunn & Bradstreet according to a simple Google Search.  I merely got a message saying that I had no need to do anything, they were merely verifying phone numbers, but if I wanted further information, please call the above number.

I am a business, and I suspect I'm going to be plagued by them now.

Had a call from a number that was withheld and an automated recording said that there was no need to do anything as they were just updating their telephone database and if I wanted more information I could call 08003580884.  No company name was given or if it was I missed it the call was so quick.

This number called me today.  It was a recorded message from D&B.  I am on TPS so have reported them via the complaints procedure.
