Got a call this morning from 0800-389-0755. Said he was Santander, calling in response to a complaint. I did actually make a complaint yesterday, about a page on their website which functions so poorly as to be completely useless. So I would have been quite happy to talk to him, except that he insisted on going through full banking security. I totally refused to go through banking security to discuss a publicly-available page on their website (nothing to do with my account, no need to be logged in to get there) and he said he couldn't discuss if without going through security. I asked what he would do if it was a non-customer complaining about that page and he said he would still have to get them to verify their identity. Like he really thinks he can phone someone who doesn't bank with them and start demanding security information!

If it wasn't Santander, they're getting inside information from Santander, but at least they didn't get anything from me. And if it really was Santander, then they've just proved they have no common sense whatsoever and that they don't care how much they annoy people. Oh wait, I think I knew that already...

I have had calls from this number at unsociable hours, which as they are supposedly from Santander is unusual as I haven't known a bank to call at 10pm in the evening.

Answered after several missed/ignored calls.
I read the above posts and clearly noted the questions asked from the caller regarding security questions.
So when I got the call again I gave random security answers and was suddenly cut off....
Read in to that what you think.

My partner has been receiving calls saying that someone has tried everyday for. A week to take £60.49 out ofnhis account but as he no longer uses that account because it's overdrawn by £50 it's not him we went into the bank they told us there had been no activity on that account for several months and we reported them through the bank do not give them your details x

08003890755 been calling me every day for several days now. I never answer and having checked online, I see it's a scammer number. Now they just called my ex-directory home line on a Sunday, claiming to be my bank, Santander, which I know they are not because Santander do not have the home number, nor do they ever call me unless there has been a security concern, and certainly not at weekends. I challenged him and 'Luke' offered to send me to a website where I could confirm security etc which I declined. I expect this number will now stop calling me or will become another number.

Long and short is: your bank will never call you to discuss your banking details. Don't engage them in conversation as you will be surprised how much you give away inadvertently.

Relentless calling but no msgs left.

I had a few calls from this number,but my bank never use my land line to contact me.
Ask your bank to use your mobile for contact details and then if some merchant says they are from the bank you know they are not genuine.

It's OK. Santander checking legitimate bank transfers.

This is not a scam number, I received a call from this number and they left a message stating they were calling from Santander fraud department. I have confirmed via another number to call to Santander that this number is correct

This number is from scammers pretending to be from santander trying to obtain account details they have called me several times and when I try to call the number back from my mobile it tells me iv dialed an incorrect number and hangs up (alarm bells ring!) so I then called the genuine santander number I have stored in my phone who informed me they have nothing to talk to me about and have not tried to call me about anything and to completely ignore any future calls. Also it's worth noting if you receive a call like this on your home phone as I did when you hang up.to call the bank use a different number as often these scammers have actually kept your line open and you have not called your bank but are actually unknowingly talking to the scammers again! Be smart and don't let con artists like these fool you!

They are scammers iv had the same calls and after calling my bank I was advised they had not tried to contact me about anything and to ignore any future calls.

This is definitely a scam.iv had that confirmed by santander and advised to ignore any future calls from them.

There seems a lot of debate over this number.
I've had a call from them tonight 8:45pm which went to voicemail on my mobile (which is registered with my bank). Message left was from a guy claiming to be from Santander UK Security Team and asking me to call him back on a different number (08456038562). I did have problems with my Santander account earlier that day when it wouldn't let me make a substantial purchase online, even though I had the money to do so. Which makes me think it could be legitimate as I've had Santander check large payments with me before. But I will go into my branch and check with them just in case.
