- Brassed off! replies to ccI'm not even a customer of British Gas, and have had 2 calls from them already today while out at work. Another tactic to stop nuisance calls is to answer, let them say their opening line, reply with "Just a second.....", then put the phone to one side without hanging up and carry on doing what you were doing before answering the call. You may have to do it a couple of times, but it works eventually......

They ring just once and expect you to call them. what the hell are they doing it for, i'm with them for the boiler contract, but I buy my gas from a better provider. Why do they do it I tried it once from my land line and they say don't worry we'll call you back,"I know you bloody will ,i'm trying to stop you" I shout to their recored message in the hope of breaking their machinery. 4 times today so far. Who can I sue???

I have my boiler service through BG and I book it online. They ask for a phone number and say it's *purely* for the purposes of the boiler service so that they can send you automated reminders of the appointment (which I don't really need, but there you go...) and also so the engineer can ring on the day to say he's on his way to you (which he did). That they don't use the number for anything else.
Now the service has been done, they are ringing again and its presumably the useless 'survey' - did BG turn up on time, was engineer polite, etc etc. As if any of my comments are going to be acted upon! ("yes, the service was fine but lower your prices!").
What they THEN do is to sneakily try and offer you other BG services, or sign you up for direct debit etc. I think they can get round 'laws' relating to unwanted marketing calls by starting off with a 'survey' which, of course, means they can claim the call is not marketing related. When it actually is.
There is (or was) a place on the BG website where you could see if they'd called you by typing in your number and - supposedly - it would say if they have and if so, what the purpose of the call was. You are supposedly able to opt out of further calls going down this route but when I tried it, it was - no surprise here - not working. But I bet it still registered my phone number.
This is a company that really needs to be taken to court and dealth with over its telephone behaviour. I've no problem with their phone staff at all, they are friendly and polite.
But I DON'T want to ****ing speak to them in the first place. SImple as that.- Caller: British Gas

- fed upthis is british gas offering their services to ONLY their EXISTING customers BUT made by a third party duly authorised by british gas who are supposed to just call british gas customers but appear to call everyone in the phone book as we are not customers.
CALL 08000480505 which is a british gas complaints number-keep selecting the 'anything else' option and ignore requests for an account number and you get someone to scream at who finally admits that british gas has no record of our phone number and should not be calling.- Caller: BRITISH GAS

It seems the fact I get gas & electric from them is enough of them to think its right to hassle customers about boiler care and other overpriced unwanted services. - PaulThis is why I lurve my truecall system , just had them call me while I was out, added them to my ZAP list and all they get now is an automated voice saying 'this person does not wish to speak to you , stop calling' and it hangs them up...

- Serge bakerI have just taken out the home service cover with British Gas and despite telling them that I do not want any calls they have rung me at least twice... I spoke with a lady called Margaret and specifically asked that they make sure I am not on the call list.If they persist I will cancel the contract.
