I like that system BG have put in place.  At first seeing the previous comments I just thought they were contacting me for the annual service which is due about now.  On checking my phone number, it came up as no attempt at contact has been made so I know now it was a fake call.  I hope more companies adopt this approach.

Are these people actually British Gas or a marketing company in their behalf?
Either way they are a 'pesky' pest !

Received a silent call from this number this evening. Decided to ring back and a recorded message confirmed it was British gas making a non urgent call. I thought they had been warned off making silent calls by ofcom. Disgraceful.

I called the BG Dept responsible for these calls, they had the  wrong phone number for the person they was trying to contact , the calls stopped for several months, but have started again, BG i'm not a customer & never will be please go and f*** off!!! and i will calmly tell you so next time you ring my number you morons

Had several calls go to answer it and they hang up no words have been said

Was warned we would get a phone call from British Gas who serviced our boiler yesterday. Answered phone but silence. Don't do surveys on the conduct of employees -that used to be management's job - they get paid for it. The engineer was good and helpful

Why don't you put their number on automatic reject on your mobile?

Rang today, but left no message when answer machine took the call. A bit of a coincidence seems as though we just had our boiler serviced with them yesterday.
The engineer who came round was not the most friendly either - tut -

This number has just phoned me ......and a recorded announcement told me that the system was not working properly and apologised   ......now I've read this, I know it was British Gas, they serviced our boiler last week.

phone rang 3 times, then cut off. Rang back and it said it was British gas, not urgent. Oddly enough I had been on the phone to them earlier, debating why my homecare agreement was £350, yet i could get the same thing on-line for £180. Needless to say I will be cancelling my existing policy

2 points there Peter, 1 British gas wont read this, and 2 you just gave out your personal mobile number for the whole internet to see. Might want to edit that mate.

Your post has now alerted my curiousity and I have succesfully retrieved his mobile number which will now be added to our databases and disemminated according to our business plan. Thank you for alerting us to this free lead...otherwise it may have slipped our attention.

British Gas trying to crawl round us in order for us to change our decision to move to N Power for a better boiler/radiator cover for much less than we were paying with BG, do barter with them though ,its hilarious when they come up with another special price that they can only offer to us as we are the best customers they ever had blah blah blah- no thanks you had ur chance and blew it we are off to pastures new! see ya

pestered with calls & messages being left saying it was the British Gas

Got a call asking to speak to the previous owner of the house. Sadly he died......20 years ago. Caller then asked if we were the party who reported a gas leak. There is no gas within 12 miles of this village. Asked him if he was a "scammer" he put the phone down immediately.....British Gas??? I wonder

I can understand your frustration at the unwanted calls but the "paddy" bit was a bit unwarranted - insulting the Irish in general won't get your problem solved. Would you have added an insulting name if it had been a fellow countryman who had called???

They called at 7:36 on Saturday?!! Of course I did not answer....
