Had 3 calls already today from this number grrrrrrrrrr

I've had 17 missed calls from these in the past 2 weeks and so finally answered today.. I'm not with british gas (I don't even have a boiler) When I do answer it's a recorded message.. I wouldn't mind but I've only had the phone and number for 17 days. Half my friends and family don't have it yet and here I am getting bombarded by these idiots. Think I may word a strong letter to British Gas

I have been receiving silent calls from 08009806166 several times,  twice tonight.

3 calls over the last few days. 1 left "hello...hello..hello" on the answerphone the other 2 were silent.

I have received four calls from this number today within 10 minutes of each other.  All of them hang.  I called them back to also be told via a recorded message that it's British Gas and not urgent.  Grrr!  I'm not a customer of theirs, and there is no way they should have my number as we moved home only three months ago and changed my land line number to an ex-directory!  Very cross.

I just had a call from this number at 7pm. When I picked up the phone, there was a recording: "This is a call from British Gas Services. Unfortunately, all of our advisors are busy at the moment so..." at which point I hung up. Assuming they would call again, I decided to use our BT Choose To Refuse service to block the number. Interestingly, when I did so, they had the number listed as 01702303555 so I', not sure if it's blocked or not.

I do have a service contract with British Gas for our boiler but they are constantly trying to sell us additional cover for other things. I'm seriously thinking about cancelling the service contract to avoid all these calls but they would probably only start ringing again to get me to renew.

I wish Watchdog or someone would do something about these idiots.

I got a call from this number and they hung up when I answered.  I didn't bother calling back.

I had a call from number 08009806166 at 19:56 on 12 August. They rang off after one ring. Odd. I never pick up when I don't recognise the number. If they are British Gas never sign up to them.

The reason its silent is as follows.

They have an automated system that dials numbers from their database. If the call gets answered then its held until they have an operator free to speak with you. This way they maximise their operator's time in that they dont have to dial numbers & wait for a customer to answer.

Saying that this muppet's opening line was that he was from British Gas and that my boiler was 10 years old and before he had a chance to utter another word I told him to p*** off and not call me ever again. If I need a new boiler I will sort it out myself.

British Gas use sub contractors for everything and only look to cream extra cash off the customer by selling the product and getting a plumber to install.

I was called at 1740 by 08009806166 - I answered after 2 rings but caller had gone. I must assume it is British Gas. Todays date 27th Aug 2010

Now receiving a daily phonecall from Britsh Gas on my mobile, because like many others on here I have a maintenance contract for my boiler with them.

I've rung and complained twice, but I'm still getting the calls :(

I was driving on the M6 this morning when phone rang, but didn't answer as don't have handsfree kit.  Had to leave motorway at next junction and drive for half a mile to find somewhere safe to stop and check who had called, only to find it was British bloody Gas yet again.

It's about time they started paying out compensation for the hassle they're causing their customers.

They should also SACK the managaer responsible for implementing this autodialing system that is annoying so many of their customers.

Another call today, When I call barred it with choose to refuse it came back as originating from the number 02890 381743, & that number is listed on here also.

This number calls every day sometimes several times.  Obviously computer generated as it rings four times and then stops.  Trying to establish when i am in so tha it can file the information for further sales or reference for live caller later.  I just never answer any call which i do not recognise on the premise that if it is important they will find some other way of contacting me.

I'm also a victim of these nuisance calls then from this blog I realized it British. Gas I also just have their call This morning at 10.05 am , I just have there. Home care
Plan and that's it , but I am also fed up , so whenever I get a sales call either for mobile or or injury claiming insurance all the way from India I just past the phone to my 2 yr old who loves the phone give them a good goo goo ga ga conversation which leave me and family in stitches and we always have the last laugh. Suggest you all do the same

I am fed up with receiving calls sometimes several times a day from 08009 806166.  These are un solicited calls to a private subscriber from British Gas.  The number they call on was given only as a reference and not for unsolicited calls re-boilers or other sales gimmicks.
The call rings off after 4 rings therefore is a computer generated call up.  I shall report it to the approprate authority if it carrys on.  I will also remove my service contract from British Gas if these calls continue.

ringing a private business number, asking for a previous employee who sat at this desk, who was once a customer of theirs

I tried to get his details, but he wouldn't give them to me, the number they rang on was TPS'd  2 months ago,

I advised of this, but knew nothing about TPS

I advised him TPS prevents you ringing a customer, past or otherwise, that you do not have ANY LEGITIMATE business with, and therefore his call is illegal,

I advised him he needs more training on TPS

he replied " WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO TELL ME WHAT TRAINING I NEED"

(well i do work in telephone services myself so have been fully trained on TPS, unlike him)

I pushed him some more for his surname, and office he was calling from to report him to TPS services, but he got really irate and hung up on me
