Report a phone call from 08009889546 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- NMNumerous calls in the last few days from this and other "0800" numbers, maybe 2 per day. This is the first one I jotted down and decided to look into after answering it and being hung up on this evening.
I've got the call screening thing through BT and hoped it would put an end to all this nonsense!!!! :(- Caller: ?
- Mr C J SmithCalled twice today and didn't leave a message.
- MarkJust rang, asked for my other half so I said they have the wrong number. they'll get the same response next time.
And again whilst I type this....
I'm playing Christmas music to them next time and leaving the phone next to the speaker - RossCoFC| 1 replyJust an update - Looks like they've started up again... 08009 889546 and also 08009 533008
The 'Silent Number' registration number has changed. The old one 0870 4443969 is not in service.
If you want to reduce these types of calls (not stop, unfortunately) there is a separate (Telephone Preference) service called Silent CallGuard. You can register with them by calling 0844 3722325. See http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/news2.html for further info.- Caller: Silent. Hang up when called back,
- FoggyPants replies to RossCoFCLooks like these guys are calling me too. I got a call friday week ago asking if I get free weekend cals on my bt line. Being pretty tired I said I wasn't sure what package I had and they said they'd call back the following Friday. Got another call on Friday and being a bit more with it, I said 'Well, if your calling from BT they you must know what package I have?' The guy avoided the question and said how they were offering a special package if I signed up that night to agree to another 12 month contract. I told them I wasn't interested and was going to tell them I'm not tied in under a fixed contract but thought better not divulge such info. He did say in the conversation that he was calling from something like Stanley.... on behalf of BT but I wasn't having it, I'm not signing up to anything from a phone call or door sales. If they want my custom, they will be happy to offer me a good deal online or in person.
Oh, 1471 reveals.... The caller withheld their number. Perhaps they know I'm on TPS. - mani replies to Isabelle| 1 replyI previously worked for CCA International in my student years, I have no completed my law degree for all them idiots who said call centre workers are thick!
Basically BT supply CCA with customers information in order to convince existing customers to renew their BT contract tying them in for another 12 months and offer them an incentive i.e. a digital photoframe, usb stick etc that was the position when i was there anyway! I know its annoying but all those people complaining about calls just call up and get sales call blacklisted! - Gary replies to maniYou keep calling these people morons! They can phone you regardless if your on the tps or not because you are a bt customer which means its allowed! They are genuine calls and in some cases you get a better deal than you would if you called bt yoursef! Bt dont do any outbound sales themselves, 5-6 outsourcers do it for them! When they call they dont ask for any details anyway! All they ask are 3 questions for data protection.
- Phil Orstrahleeyah replies to r = Steph M| 1 replyThat's a bit rich... it's a job at the end of the day and at least they are are working for a living rather than sucking the welfare system dry - plus there are those of us out there looking to stay in the workforce whist we find something suitable.... I don't find any of them to be "chimps" - the real bad guys in this scenario are the management pushing them into harassing people over the phone and paying them basic rates until they burn out. There is a high turnover of staff in these sweatshops, they should be made illegal
- mystery dave replies to Phil OrstrahleeyahOK guys some tips to deal with these guys.
First a lot of them are graduates. Architects, chefs, even teachers. Its better than sitting on the JSA.
Second TPS does not apply if you have a BT phone line or were a customer. Just answer the phone and ask to be taken off the calling list. Get angry and the peeps on the phone are just going to reschedule a call back.
Third if it's CCA its not a scam, it's a legit BT campaign.
And yes CCA as dull as it was paid my rent, and food bills for the summer. - Someone With SenseDon't whine about receiving sales calls. firstly the TPS is a joke and you will still get called by certain sales companies. simply decline the offer and ask for the person to take your name off the calling list. If you still receive the calls then tough, deal with it. Some of these people only do the job because they have no other means of making the money seeing as the job market in the country is in a terrible state. They have to eat too. I get sales calls too, I just decline without losing my cool, after all he/she is doing his/her job and probably is forced to sit down for hours and hours talking to people all day who he/she really doesn't want to while we are sitting in the comfort of our own homes but the caller is still on the quest to get paid. Or simply do not have a phone, there are many homes that have phones they don't use so simply disconnect it and stick to the mobile, keep the line rental for your broadband or better yet stop using cheap unreliable internet providers and invest in something like the fibre optic broadband with virgin which requires no line rental. Also as reasonable adults I see no reason for people to get worked up about sales calls. The companies need to sell products in order to make that money and keep the service running and they do this by outsourcing the calls to a sales company as they have the expertise in sales and that is how a sales department of a telephone service provider or ISP is born. People need to sit down and be logical about these things. I know for a fact that call centre jobs are a pain and even call centre agents hate being called by marketing companies. they don't go whining on a forum or making threats to report companies. the reports will not be taken seriously. I highly doubt the sales companies are bothered enough to actually find your number even if you are on the TPS. Your number just appears on the automated calling list and gets called but the agent speaks. It shows the TPS isnt 100% accurate so really your rage should be redirected to the TPS and not to the sales companies. Sales will always exist because its a vital part of business and they will sell through different means even if it means knocking on your front door to ask if you have a moment to chat about a new product. yes this is a long post but i suggest 80% of our ignorant population read this and understand that getting a sales call is not the apocalypse. My brother comes back after work each day telling me jokes about overly sensitive customers who act like he has killed their mother just because of one marketing call. Maybe I am just a calm kind of customer though but people please be sensible. Sales calls will always exist and we cannot do much about it, just decline and hang up. I have been called by this CCA International too and I have done my research, BT and Daily Mail are clients of this company and the company itself is worth a lot of money due to its numerous sales campaigns for various UK companies. I stopped receiving sales calls because like every person who isn't being deceived by cheap deals, I have a mobile on a contract and a fibre optic connection meaning that I enjoy my services without paying a line rental on top and it doesn't cost me too much overall and I know it isn't the cheapest thing out there but I am comfortable spending my hard earned money on these services and being at peace in my home. You will receive sales calls, please deal with it ladies and gentlemen.
- Caller: CCA
- Call type: Telemarketer
- richard walker replies to Shazzathey have just rung me and it was british gas trying to sell me there products
- Patrick replies to Mr SinghI have worked for CCA International before. They are a reputable company sub contracted by BT, to do a job for them. They provide employment for a lot of people(loads of graduates and intellegent people),and for your information they are not an Indian based call centres... not everyone wants mails through their post, and quite a lot of BT customers have benefited from htis approach.
so please give people a chance.
There is a recession !!! - Patrick replies to Mr SinghI have worked for CCA International before. They are a reputable company sub contracted by BT, to do a job for them. There is a recession !!! - CCAMan| 1 replyI work at CCA, it is in fact a legit company, we have 2 - 3 floors where we are contracted by BT for several campaigns, including 1) Calling people who just have the free evening calls and then offering them free weekends as-well. 2) Calling ex bt customers to see if we can offer them a much better deal. 3) Calling current BT broadband owners and seeing if we can upgrade them to infinity. And there is plenty more.
Now the reason you idiots are getting calls all the time is because you won't pick up the phone, do you expect them not to callback when there is no answer? You say you pick up the phone 3 weeks later when you can't take it anymore, well what do you think is going to happen, learn how a outbound call center works, they call you > answer machine (by the way the company isn't allowed to leave messages) > reschedule the call to the next day or maybe later on in the same day, RINSE AND REPEAT it's not the same person calling over and over again, so stop being scared and answer the phone and you won't be spam called Jesus Christ.
If you are ex-directory then learn what it is, it just removes you from the phone book, it doesn't block phone calls, that is TPS, where the company removes your phone number from telecom centers lists, we actually call you due to your relations with BT whether it be 1 month to 50 years ago so we have the data stored.
And as for the person who was mentioning only idiots work in call centers, it's quiet the opposite I have met a lot of smart people here, most awaiting to go back to uni and some here just to make a living, there's nothing wrong with it, a job is a job, it requires more skill than you think and judging from your crap attitude I can tell you would never make it 1 week in the business of telemarketing, you probably couldn't even get pinbocs into your tiny brain.
And I don't care if I have come across rude, you are all ignorant, judgmental and arrogant old fools who complain because people are trying to get in contact with you, rightfully, after you don't pick up to even tell them you want to be removed, how about instead of taking the mick out of these people you listen to what they have to say, all they are doing is trying to HELP you, if you don't want to be helped so be it just don't be rude about it and we wont screw you over.- Caller: You all Suck
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Cca woman replies to CCAManAmen to that!!!!
- CCA UnitedI totally agree with 'CCAMan' i have also worked for CCA on the campaign calling people on behalf of bt and have had no problem removing ppl from the system WHEN THEY REQUEST IT.
We are paid to do a job simple as, which is simply to speak to people. Do you know how many call centres there are in the world with ppl paid to do the same thing?
If u no longer wants calls from CCA agents, grow some balls, pick up ur phone, that what a pone is there for, then politely ask to be removed.
I removed plenty of ppl who asked the 1st tym and agents run thew risk of getting fired if u ask to be removed and then dont remove the person. so its not worth them getting fired bcuz they wanted to keep calling a random angry person.
Take control of your phone and household. The time its taken u to search and comment about this u could have answered and asked to be removed.
Simple!- Caller: I CALLED THEM

- PWat08009752417 is the AA. They apparently have a policy to not leave a message on an answer machine. You can call them back and ask to be taken off their circulation list. While you are there, ask them to change their policy to at least leave a message to say who they are. I did. The more the better!
