Fact is something which cannot be disputed, not the observed results of BT customers. The only thing that cannot be disputed here is that BT need to make observations about every aspect of the way they conduct business, and make major changes.

Nope, I disagree. All call centre drones are of low intelligence. It's so easy to hear. If they were more intelligent, then they would move and get a proper job. Call centres are placed where there are lots of unemployed thickos who will work for peanuts. the governement usually give them grants to employ local chimps.

It's the same with mental illnes, mad people never know they are mad.

Well nice to see people taking my name in vain and posting "as me" to hurl abuse at that same me. Foolishness.

And there is a recession going on in case you haven't heard. And when I was recruited, everybody there save one builder was an 08 or 09 graduate or had already worked overseas in some company. Shows how much the general public knows about the economic situation where graduates sign up for JSA. This country needs help and now I see why.

And it's strange how people hit out at call centre workers. It's a job, not a career or lifestyle. They will exist because they cut costs to larger companies. You can't do anything about it unless you can think of an alternative. What do you want, them to MAIL things to you? Ineffective and inefficient.

I have just called back the number (08009889546)and there was a recorded message saying that I was called on behalf of BT, that they called but there was no answer (not true, they asked to speak to me, they had my name so I said: speaking and they hung up!. The recorded message also mentioned 08000282272 to be removed from their list ??? I am a BT broadband customer.
    What's wrong with them?

This number is BT calling you. I have had a few calls from this number since the last week since I have switched to Talk Talk. They just want to speak to the BT account holder, possibly to try and convince them not to switch. When I called the number back later there was a message saying that BT had called and wanted to talk to me. The call is free and they will call again later as no one answered the call earlier.

i have been called every day for the last 10 days, tonight at 7.50 pm - i rang the number back - it's BT - they give you a number 0800 028 2272 if you want to be removed from their call list. I rang and got through to a very apologetic call centre (remember they are only doing a job and it's not them calling you - so be nice) If it is BT offering me a good deal for the next year then i would prefer them to write to me.

Persistent calls from 08009889546 who then on doing 1471 and calling back then want you to ring another 0800 number which I haven't rung. Come on BT get a grip and switch them off

IF this number belongs to Opel then you should know its owned by Carphone Warehouse. However this number belongs to CCA International according to 'David' who called me on this number this evening and had information (but not quite up to date) about my account with BT - what was and is alarming is that he had my BT account no so was quite convincing initially. He said he was phoning from CCA International and gave, when pressed, an address 'Old Street, London' no number and no post code. CCA International have a website presence (but it's more style than substance) and are currently advertising for staff thru Reed International. They have London address 2nd and 3rd Floor, Arnold House, 21-33 Great Eastern Street, London EC2P 2EQ. Great Eastern Street and Old Street intersect. If I was prepared to pay I could get reports from Experian (via Alcara) and Wrights. I phoned BT who denied they spoke for them and could offer no explanation how David got my account no. Not happy at all especially when I read others experiences. I also belong to TPS which has reduced but not eliminated calls like this-I've had calls like this before as 1471 takes you  to a message that they tried to call but you did not answer ( not true on this occasion). They give you a number 08000282272 which they say may allow you to prevent future calls. It's BT. Not much chance there then if TPS doesn't work but will try it. I will also contact BBC's Watchdog and strongly suggest others do the same.

Clearly the recession is hitting India as well, hence the reason BT's Indian
call centres are pestering the British public with thier unwanted, unsolicited
phone calls. I would urge all BT Customers to complain to BT to get this "cold-calling" nonsense stop!

I have had many calls over the last few weeks from 08009889546, sometimes four a day. I keep the answer-phone on permanently. Fed up with a weekend of this I today (Oct 28, 2009) phoned this number in order to tell them what I thought of them but a recorded quite business-like English voice said they were from BT and that I would not be charged for this call. I was then given an alternative 0800 number to call. This I didn't do. Instead I phoned BT and was given the number of their Silent Call Guard which is 08443722325.
They can only stop UK calls. I am also on the list of the Telephone Preference Service which stops the majority of cold calls.(02072913320)
I can only think it is a criminal scam in collecting money when you answer. They don't appear to be selling anything. Much more of this and I will dispense with the landline and use a mobile with a number of sim cards. BT must do something about it.

When the nuisance number 08009889546 rings and you have it on the answer phone you might ring back after weeks of this four times a day, seven days a week, a recorded voice say they say they are from BT. You are given another number to ring which they say will take you off the list - 0800 028 22 72. You ring it as I did today 28th Oct, 2009. It is an Indian call centre where someone speaking poor English denies knowledge of the nuisance number and asks if they are trying to sell you something. A bit rich when you consider BT or their cohorts are doing it. Then I am asked for account details which I have refused to do as it is already a very murky area. Maybe I should leave BT which I have been with for maybe 40 years and go on to my mobile with plenty of sim cards. Come on BT this amounts to criminal activity - harassment with the phone going continually. What are you selling? Pack it in or I'll pack you in.

I also didn't answer this nuisance call for weeks though the phone was going four times a day, sometimes seven days a week. I then phoned and was told by a recorded voice that this was BT. I was told to ring 08000282272 if I wanted off the list. I did this and got through to a call centre in India. I told them to take me off the list but the person began asking me for more details about my BT account. In this murky little world I told him that they knew my number and that should be enough. Later the phone rang and the person said they were from BT and addressed me by my name and were about to attempt to sell me something. With the pent-up frustration over weeks of calls I let fly, telling him and his cohorts never to ring me again.
He agreed never to use that number again. Now I think it is better to answer the phone, should you be at home, and confront these trolls. BT is a disgrace. The telephone company used to be an icon of industry in the UK now it is nothing but a hawker. I should add the fact that when my wife is alone and these calls are coming in at the rate of four or five it can be quite frightening for her. Can't a law be passed or maybe BT can be sued for harassment. Sympathy for call centre staff? Let them eat cake.

Rather than hide behind the answer-machine as I did for three weeks when this pest number rung I answered and confronted the caller about his cold-calls on behalf of BT. He promised not to phone again. Peace at last! A whole day without this nuisance caller who called four times a day. But I still think some lawyer out there should apply his brain to this business and figure out how to sue large companies like BT. These unwanted calls can be stressful as I have realised after a day of peace, and can damage your health. There must be a case there for a good lawyer. As I haved said in a previous write-in the calls were beginning to frighten my wife especially when she was alone.

Some interesting dialogue has been posted here since my last submission. I said I would update when BT had answered my complaint. Strangely I haven't heard from them. I asked them outright if CCA International were making harrassment calls on their behalf. I originally referred the matter to the TPS who referred it to BT. BT denied it was them and sent that reply to the TPS as well. So as far as the TPS is concerned - all is well.
The bottom line is; BT have hired this company to phone BT customers and given them phone numbers that may be ex-directory and most certainly registered with the Telephone Preference Service. If that isn't bad practise I don't know what is! I am currently researching other companies phone services and will soon be dispensing with BT after many years. I can't do business with a company that treats its' customers like this.
