- ChasI've been getting a lot of calls from this number recently, despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service. I make a habit of simply not answering any calls from numbers like this but the other day, feeling spiteful, I just picked it up and then left it. I could hear a voice going "hello, hello" until they eventually rang off. Make life as difficult for them as they do for us.
I also believe that this is BT Broadband as I've had a mailing and an email from them about price reductions. Why don't they just give us the reduction and leave us alone. Bunch of twazzers!. - Serial RapistThe reason they don't give you the cheaper rate anyway and not pester you is because they need you to agree to having the 'price reduction'. What it actually entails is you agreeing to a new contract along with the cheaper monthly fee, thus you're tied to them for another 12 months or so and required to pay the rest of your contract periods worth should you decide to leave them earlier for another supplier.
The only thing you can do is tell them to stop calling you. If they keep doing it, request a migration authorisation code the next time you're on the line with them so that you can move to another supplier while you're still contract free. If that doesn't put the wind up them and stop the calls, then they are idiots.- Caller: BT Broadband
- going barmyThis number calls constantly day in day out , leaves no message ..... is it def a mobile co. selling junk ?
- StormI've just spoken to BT and they confirmed that this IS NOT one of their numbers and it another company.
I think this is a Debt Recovery Phishing for Information...
Be Warned!!- Caller: NOT BT
- a scullyyou all need to register on ther Telephone prefrence scheme on 08450700707
- JulesCalled today, said nothing so I just hung up and called 1471. Hate these dam things!
- JoIs this a scam? I am so fed up with 08009889546 calling my house phone. I called it back today and it gave me a number to call to remove myself from the list. The number was 08000282272 which put me through to BT!!! When I explained about the nuisance calls, BT then offered me a way of blocking these numbers....which will cost me £9 per quarter!! BT said that 08009889546 is not a BT number but why would the automated message give a BT number to call if it wasn't??? This sounds suspiciously like BT scamming for business. I am going to call OFCOM on Tuesday when they are open again.
The blocking service BT can provide is free for 1 month and is activated within 24 hours so I'm going to use it for now just to get a bit of peace. - E WalkerGot a call from this number tonight, said as I was on free weekend calls with BT I can have free calls all week for £11.95 a month. I said no I'm not on free weekend calls, person hadn't a clue, so not BT. Said I was on low user rebate, only pay £25 a quarter, didn't phase person, as I use a mobile to make calls, then she said I can get free calls to mobiles from L/line, I said not interested and hung up.
- Caller: BT (allegedly)
- JohnI had this call last night.
They claimed to be calling "on behalf of" BT which made me immediately suspicious.
As above they said that I already had free weekend calls (which I don't have) and offered me free daytime calls.
I asked how much it'd cost and was told "absolutely nothing!" and then adding (very quietly and quickly) "if you renew your contract for 12 months". - IvorMale called from this number a few minutes ago . He knew my name and said he was 'with BT'and asked if I was a BT customer!
I pointed out he should know if I was or not!
He said he could offer me a contract with more benefits. Told him to write and immediately hung-up.- Caller: Claimed BT - but I doubt it
- annonymousThis number keeps calling repeatedly. On answering, appears to automatically dial another number, so obviously some kind of automated service. As I am registered with the TPS, will be reporting to BT as they are acting illegally.
- Caller: Not Known
- ScottyRecently asked for a BT Broadband MAC to migrate to BE Unlimited. Since then I get a call every other day from this number offering me special reduced prices on BT broadband (£16 instead of £25). When I tell them I am in the process of migrating they say, OK and hang up.
- Caller: "on behalf of BT"
- vickythese keep ringing me near enough every day when i answer they just hang up!!
- CliveThis is a company under contract to BT to sell broadband/renew contracts. hope this helps
- GeraintIt was from BT asking me if I wanted to renew my broadband contract with them which was about to expire
- GabriellaThese people have been calling me every day for over a week... Today Sunday 14.06.09 they have called me 6 times!!
*** They just assumed my 12 month contract was ending and told me they could reduce my calls if I signed up to another 12 months..
*** Who are these people, who claim to be calling on behalf of BT???
*** I am supposed to be exdirectory..seems like no one respects our privacy anymore... I think I should get a dongle for my internet and say adios to BT.
*** This abuse of personal data and unprofessional persistence makes me wanna be very rude and say to hell with all the manners and politeness that I was brought up with.
Gabriella.. A very Peeed off BT customer - Secraserbtbroadband@bt.com.
This number is callin so often. It's harassment.- Caller: btbroadband@bt.com
- Ludmila VinnikovaI receive nuisance calls from 08009889546 on a daily basis. When I pick up the phone the automated voice service leaves a message 'We cannot reply now and will call you again.'
- Caller: BT
- CiAnnwfnI have also been receiving a number of calls from this number at different times over the last few days. I answered once and he said he was from BT, but was suspicious as he asked for me by name but called me Mrs instead of Miss. I just replied that Mrs ---- was not in and could I take a message. Now I just let the phone ring out and check the number. In the past I have said that I am not interested but it doesn't seem to deter them. I use the landline for broadband connection but seriously considering getting a dongle and getting rid of phone!
- Caller: BT supposedly
