This number is a plague! As everyone else, silence! I did (like a muppet) press 1471 when I first missed it and pressed three, to find out, I may now be charged for that service aswell, which,I beleive used to be free. I now just ignore it, when I see it on my screen. I shouldn't have to monitor all my calls.....My daughter picks up in the other room, presuming it's a friend for her and there's no ID screen on that phone... Not a happy Mummy...

I've been told it's an automated system. It dials random numbers and if you cuts off. But, again, yes it is to sell you something. Usually finance of sanswer and they have an operator available, they respond, otherwise it just sorts.

It's Direct Dialogue.  They are a fund-raising company who claim to be working for well-knwon charities, like OXFAM and Save the Children. However, their name has come up on these forums before.  If they don't get through to you they will never leave a message, and they are reluctant to divulge who they really are. There's a lot of mystery surrounding this firm, and no-one seems absolutely sure if they are genuine. Their parent company is called TDG operations. Their website is www.dialoguedirect.co.uk and there is some connection with another company called NTT find-raising.  All three companies have been the subject of queries on boards such as this one.  Why they act in such a peculiar way is beyond me.

This number just called. Some woman asked for my Dad. I just said "no" and hung up...

Hang on... they just called back. Some bloke this time.
He said he is from BT offering a price reduction on the Option 1 Broadband package... Sounds good but its just a ploy to get you to sign up with the m for another term...

Received a call on 08009889546 which I didn't answer. Being curious, I had a chance to check on here to find out who it was from. Half an hour later received another call from 08009533006 saying they were calling on behalf of BT Broadband. They offered to reduce my payments by 4 GBP per month if I would re-sign for another 12-month contract. I asked when my current contract expired and they quoted the correct date, proving to me that they had at least been prompted to call by BT Broadband. I declined their offer so that I am free to choose an ISP when my minimum contract expires. Will see if they call again. Hope this helps.

Obviously this anonymous caller is an idiot as they appear incapable of leaving a message on my answer machine.

Why are we living in a society full of Nuisance Corporate scum who do not respect peoples privacy?

been getting the same thing from 08009533006 with a message left saying that "sorry they were unable to connect me to an operator this time but if I want to contact them I can ring them on blah blah blah". totally bizarre

Who are these jokers. Whilst it's annoying them calling late at night - i have a baby asleep - i do worry that for each message here there are x 50 calls connecting to the more oblivious amongst us, giving information and being scammed. BT control the lines, they can't have their innocence and their line rental...! Complicit by inaction when knowing of the problem - shame on you BT, this is part of your service and truly it stinks

Called by 080009533008 but this applies also to 08009889546. I have been called by these numbers a number of times over the past few days. I rang them back to find they both are answered by the same company. I just had a long heated conversation with the call center Manager. He said BT supply the Numbers to ring. He said BT check for anyone on the TPS before sending numbers to them. I asked if he could tell me my account number ???? guess what his answer was NO!!!!  So deduce for yourself. They do not know the account number so in my oppinion are definatley NOT BT. Having got annoyed with them they have told me they will take my number off there system and I will never get a call from them again.
They say they are Direct Dialogue on behalf of BT.
If you get called by this number speak to the Manager and get annoyed with them.
Read all other posts it is said they ask for you bank details etc. Do you give this info to a stranger who has just phoned you. I think NOT.

It is BT, they caled me earlier on and told me about a promotion they are offering their customers.  At the minute I allegedly get free evening and weekend calls of BT although I don't make calls via BT as I am on Sky Talk.  They phoned me and said I can now have unlimited 01 & 02 calls in the week now which will cost me still my line rental of £11 which I already pay them.  The catch is you are legally contracted to stay with BT for another 12 mmonths.  Although I have no intention of leaving BT why should I sign up for another 12 months when I don't even make any calls via BT as mine are routed through Sky

Two nights on the trot I have had these jokers on the 'phone.  Claimed to e "Oliver" on behalf of BT. Had details about which BT Option we were on and wanted to offer us free evening calls if we could answer a few questions - YEAH RIGHT!!! We're registered with TPS but we've had a fair few bogus calls this month.  If you see this number, either ignore it, or as I will do from now on, take the opportunity for a good rant down the phone! One thing is curious though is how they got an ex-directory number from BT?  Hmmm.

Just had a chap asking me if I wanted free evening calls and when I said OK he asked for my postcode and first line of address. Did not like the sound of this and I asked " how do I know you are from BT". He said he acted on behalf of BT. So I said I'm not giving that info over the phone and I would ring them. So he gave me another 0800 number to ring but I did not bother noting it. What a cheek! A while ago I had someone saying he was from BT asking me what mobile company I used, the impudence! I told him to mind his own business. What a nerve these people have. Sort it out, BT!

Had several missed calls from this number.  Answered it this morning and it was some one calling from an agency on behalf of BT saying I am currently on option 1 which is free weekend calls and BT would like to upgrade me to free evening and weekend calls at no extra charge.  All seemed fine when I asked if we would be locked into any contract longer than the one I am currently in.  Although she was reluctant to answer, eventually she said I would be locked into a 12 month contract.  My current contract is due to end next month so this is their way of keeping you.

These muppets call me at least a dozen times a day - sometimes minutes apart. There must be some way to stop them - its doing my head in AND filling up my answer machine when i'm away. Went away last weekend - 'you have 12 new messages',,,,,all going: DOOOOOOOOOOOOO
And i'm supposed to be subscribed to the BT thing that stops these nuisance calls - it really works then???????
