Report a phone call from 08442490999 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Katy| 4 repliesHi Everyone,
Sorry to give you all more work but it should be well worth it in the end:
Those of you who have yet to contact Action Fraud, please could you do so as soon as possible on:
0300 123 2040
I've just been called back by a very supportive and helpful lady who told me that this would be reported to the National Fraud Squad (London Police) but they need lots of people to report before they look in to it. I now have a Crime reference number!
She suggested that we also drop any further contact (once reported) with the companies so we don't give them any further personal details, I still want my SAR documents though, and if the Police don't investigate then it's another way for us to do it!
I called Sky as emailing them was turning in to a right faff!
They have taken this very seriously and have asked that we all:
Write to them, outlining our cases and with copies of any supporting documents like contracts, (if only we had some!). The address is:
CUSTOMER RELATIONS
SKY SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES LTD.,
LIVINGSTON
WEST LOTHIAN
EH54 7DD
They have urged that we contact the police, ie Action Fraud (if you have a crime reference number quote that in your letter to Sky), as they will work with the police on this.
I'm now going to call my ISP re another email account to see if we can form some sort of action group and give each other better support. - LizzieM replies to Katy| 3 repliesKaty, I'm probably being paranoid, but I've written my 2 SARs - one to Satlite and 1 to Capital, and written cheques to each, but I'm now thinking - will they forge my signature on to a trumped up contract - and can they access my bank account from the details on the cheques? Then when you said the person from Action Fraud said no further contact which might give them personal details, it made me think again! I've phoned the bank and they said they couldn't access my account, but if they did the bank would recover it (They can't but they might???). I want to send them because they are legally bound to respond within 40 days, but these criminals seem to stop at nothing. What do you think? Meanwhile I'm off to write my letter to Sky - seeing they take a healthy amount of money from me each month, they should be supportive! (Wonder if they would be prepared to set up a site for us?)
- Katy replies to LizzieM| 2 repliesOooh good idea - otherwise if it's not too expensive I might set up a second email address for you all to email to and we can 'Troll Watch' - unless anyone can suggest a better way to do it.
Lizzie if you have a crime number then perhaps it's as well to not send the letters and let the police do their thing - I can imagine you're really worried, I am too I must admit. As it's not essential as yet, I haven't sent the one to Capital. The thing is - we need lots of us to make sure we report to Action Fraud so that it's worth the Fraud Squad having a look.
I will have my Local Trading Standards contacting me within the next 5 days so leave it 'til I let you know what they said - the SARs can always be sent later, and maybe not at all if the Police look in to it.
From everything I've seen on this site - you're right to be paranoid -and careful. Speak soon. - Martin replies to Katy| 1 replyJust e mailed my local MP who happens to be the Home Sec for a surgery meeting I also copied in Watchdog and Sky TV will let you know if I get anywhere
- Katy replies to MartinThat's brilliant Martin - MP's usually respond pretty quickly so hopefully you'll have some news soon!
- dannyd711 replies to Sean| 18 repliesmy nan was just scammed by this company and on the whole it seems they prey on the elderly for most of there scams. rang her pretty much in sakme ways described above. my nan is pretty on ball though and next week realised something was wrong and canceled the account and stopped direct debits going to them with her bank(that is always option one people). Now theyre sending her threatening letters from debt companies stating she owes them £45 now its 135£. i told her to ignore and she is. they wont and cant take you to court with no signed contract and i doubt they would even if they had a signed contract for under 1000£ of debt. so dont worry if you recieve similar letters ignore them and dont give them a penny.
- LizzieM replies to dannyd711| 17 repliesHi Danny. Unfortunately I was told by Consumer Direct that a verbal contract is legally binding. The guy was helpful, he was just playing devils advocate. Also, even if you know you haven't had a contract, they can say they sent it, so its your word against theirs. This is why we're all trying so hard to find ways to prove, beyond doubt, that they are a bunch of criminals. If you read the posts you will see that we've managed to find some links between the companies involved. I think a few of us would advise you to report the circumstances to the agencies we've mentioned, particularly Action Fraud, 03001232040, who will give you a crime number and report the company to the Fraud Squad. I don't want to ignore this company any longer - I want to see them brought down and shown up to be the bullies they are. The more of us who join together to fight them, the more chance we have of achieving this.
I'm away for the weekend folks - so don't think I've given up the fight if you don't hear anything - I'm still in there with you. Still trying to think of a a way we could communicate outside this site. I was going to put my telephone number in, because the companies involved know it anyway - then I would probably have 100 people ringing up saying they were Katy!! Ideas?? - Katy replies to LizzieM| 16 repliesI have to second that very strongly Lizzie - Danny we really can't ignore these people any longer, and we need your help too to stop them once and for all! Please read back over the posts with recommendations of what to do and please do them. Believe me they won't just leave things as they are.
On a positive note, I was contacted by the Daily Mirror today so watch this space!
I haven't forgotten about our plan Lizzie, I'm finding out which is the best way we can get together properly, I mentioned your idea in my letter to Sky - nicely of course but I'm not relying on them!
I feel that things are definitely moving now so it's important that we keep going.
Lizzie have a lovely weekend and put this right out of your mind - you deserve a rest!
We'll catch up soon! - Joe 90 replies to Katy| 15 repliesHi Katy, Hi All.
I am still waiting for these bunch of bozos to respond to my first dispute letter, let alone anything else.
please people, calm down, remember one simple truth, the only ones that should be worried are these bell ends, as THEY are the ONLY ONES THAT HAVE COMMITED ANY SORT OF CRIME by conning us lot into parting with our hard earned cash by pretending to be BLOODY SKY,AND OR WORKING ALONGSIDE SKY. all these other threatening letters are designed purely to panic you into giving them free money. they can send as many letters as they want and you can wipe your bum on all of em for all that their worth. just think about it for a second, the only way for them to get any monet out of any of us poor sods is to actually take us to court, WHICH THEY WILL NEVER DO BECAUSE IT WILL EXPOSE THEIR SCAM!!!!!!!
I am not gonna waste another brass farthing on these idiots, I have contacted all the right people ie Action Fraud and got a crime number, the OFT, Consumer Direct, my local Police, got an appointment with my local MP next month to name but a few, if anyone needs me to back them up in any way im here, im so pi--ed off with these scum that im actually hopeing that i end up in court so as the truth will come out as to what theyre up to and HANG EM. STAY STRONG AND DONT WORRY, WE ARE IN THE RIGHT. NOT THEM. Regards to All, Joe. - Joe 90 replies to Joe 90| 14 repliesOne other important detail to rember folks, even the so called verbal contract dosent exist because they LIED ABOUT WHO THEY ARE SO THEREFORE THE SO CALLED VERBAL AGREEMENT IS VOID. G nite folks. Joe
- Katy replies to Joe 90| 13 repliesHi Joe! Well said, as ever!
I'm wondering if they're going to lay on a coach for all the people they're threatening to drag down to court in Maidstone, we could all make a picnic and have a party couldn't we?!
I feel that things are under way with the various agencies now so we can have a bit of a rest, I'll keep checking back each day though in case we have news and there are more people wondering what to do.
Have a great weekend! - Joe 90 replies to Katy| 1 replyYea, we:ll make a day of it eh? you have a great weekend Katy, and all the other folks too, will check back in on monday, cheers, Joe.
- Graham| 1 replyMy wife received a call from Satlite last year. agreed to have a policy with them. I'd heard that they were a bit iffy so I advised her to ring back and cancel the policy. She did so and was assured that the policy would be cancelled. We never received any paperwork, or written confirmation that it was cancelled. No debits were taken from our bank account.
Never hear anything from them until we got a letter from a credit reclamation company demanding £115.20 as payment for our policy being in default. Rang this company to enquire about the request and ws told very rudely, pay up or they'd take it to court.
Have paid up. Will write to Satelite now I have adress. Don't anticipate a reply, but don't want to get stung again.- Caller: Satlite Limited
- Call type: Telemarketer
- LizzieM replies to GrahamShame you didn't read some of the posts on here before you paid up Graham. However - irs not too late to report this to Action Fraud (if nobody else, at least report them to this agency), Consumer Direct, Financial Ombudsman, local Trading Standards Office, MP, press - anybody you can think of really! You never know, if enough of us get involved, you may even be able to get your money back.
Had a lovely weekend everyone - letter from Financial Ombudsman when I get back. They've registered my complaint with Poreta Verdi Financial Services Ltd, and asked them to contact me for further details. Waiting...........
By the way, why have we all got different amounts in our so-called insurance with Satlite Ensured? Wondered if it was for different models, i.e. Sky, Sky+, Sky+HD, or whether they just made the figures up as they went along, depending on which of them was on phone duty for the day! - Joe 90 replies to Joe 90Hi Katy, Hi all, all quiet on the western front so far, will keep you posted.
Regards, Joe. - Joe 90 replies to Katy| 10 repliesHi Katy, Hi all,
Got the latest letter from these cockroaches today telling me its not to late to pay up to avoid court action signed by Mr no name, just a squiggle like a snake, and once again its gone up by another £40, funny job though, I had the final demand last week so this must be the final final demand, whats the betting I recieve a final, final final demand next week eh? Oh yea, and it will have gone up by another £40 of course. HA, Bring it on boneheads. Watch this space.
Regards to all, Joe. - Jon replies to Joe 90| 8 repliesThanks Joe and others, this website has really stopped me panicing! I too have received a notice today of 'County Court Proceedings'.
I vaguely remember a phone call a year ago offering some satellite cover at the end of a long day at work, but I don't remember agreeing to anything. Then out of the blue two weeks ago came a very threatening letter, telling me I owed £114 to be paid immediately! I was a bit suspicious of this and decided to wait and see what happened next. Now I am on my third letter - this one printed on orange paper, with bold print!
It played on my mind to start with and I worried about doing nothing, even though I was sure it was a scam. I'm glad others have shared similar experiences. I can really see how this might upset a lot of people.
I've written to Capital Credit Management to deny any contract or debt but this is unacknowledged - but I really don't want to phone them up. I've not complained to anyone yet, but I must do this tomorrow - this type of bullying and fraud must be stopped! - LizzieM replies to Joe 90What I really want to know Joe, is why mine goes up by £45 + VAT every time and yours only goes up by £40. Its just not fair!! (Mind they did say it would go right back down if I paid them there and then). Action Fraud say do nothing now - no letters, no nothing - apparently they like communication cos they think they've got you. Can't wait to see what they try next - unless, of course, they've got the message.
- LizzieM replies to JonGet in touch with Action Fraud Jon. They know the company now and are taking it seriously. They should give you a crime number and report the case to the fraud Squad. 0300 123 2040. Its the original company you need to report - Sat-lite or Skylite Ensured.
- Martin| 1 replyHi All,
I have just received County Court Proccedings they must not like me as they have charged me £45.00, If they issue this are you able to go and defend or do Capital Credit get a judgement without telling you.
