- LizzieMJust to say that today I too received my second letter from Capital Credit Management - sounds exactly like Captain America's letter - threatens proceedings in Maidstone County Court. In case anyone's worried about travelling to Maidstone (I'm in West Yorkshire) you don'y have to according to Consumer Direct - you can ask for the hearing to take place in yourlocal County Court. I've phoned Capital Credit twice (slightly more polite rep this time) to ask for a response to the letter I sent to them asking them to put everything on hold until I'd resolved the matter with Satlite. Still waiting for their 'admin' to call me back. Also still waiting for a call back from Financial Ombudsman. The first time I rang them they told me they couldn't deal with it as Satlite was not a regulated company...Sampora is regulated, but the 'debt' isn't with them! Slippery little b.....s aren't they? Oh yes, my debt has now rise by another £45+VAT (within a week)from £144 to £198. My husband is really worried now and wants me to pay on a credit card before it goes up again. I'm holding out for the call back.
- Caller: Satlite
- Call type: Telemarketer
- LizzieM| 4 repliesUpdate: Financial Ombudsman sending a complaint through to Sampora Ltd on my behalf. (If you ring the 08442490999 number, it is now answered by Sampora and they do know about your contract number etc). They are also sending me a copy of another letter to send to Capital Credit saying the matter is being investigated by the Finincial Ombudsman, therefore they should stop any further action for the time being. Don't know if my nerves can stand much more of this - I'm not as old as some of the victims, but I am a pensioner!!
- Caller: Satlite

- Jackie replies to LizzieM| 3 repliesI have just rang the Financial Ombudsman too and got the same response about Satlite not being regulated so they could do nothing about it. Is Sampora all part of the same company?
- Joe90 replies to Captain AmericaHi Captain. Hi all. Your experience with these clowns is as near as damnit IDENTICAL TO MINE. Ive just recieved a final notice to pay up and the amount has increased by £45. plus vat. and they are going to send another clown round to collect it anytime between monday to saturday, they forgot to add that he will be easy to recognise by his big red nose, baggy trousers, great big feet and a flower that squirts water. But seroiusly folks, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PAY THESE FOOLS. YOU WILL JUST LOOSE MONEY. just keep Action Fraud updated, long with your local MP, Police station, and any other official body that has an interest in stopping these scum. Captain America is absoloutley right in every way. Do not be intimidated by them they are a complete joke, when you recieve any cr-p from them, just picture the clown in your head, do a honk honk on his nose, and get on with your day. by the way, brilliant letter Captain America, just the job.
Regards to all and keep us posted. Joe. - Katy replies to JackieIf you have a look back at the older posts, there is a connection via the address of the owners, I'll have to have another look in to it myself. Must admit, when I called the Financial Ombudsman they said this type of company wasn't in their remit and to contact the OFT, which I did, who asked me to email the full details. Their automatic acknowledgement said they would reply within 10 days but basically to call Consumer Direct if we have any problems with scam traders.....haven't we all just done that!
Captain America seemed to know his rights, and I agree with him but we really need that written down in black and white somewhere so you all know what to do for the best while we fight them.
I'll look in to this alleged Sampora connection again.
Sampora Companies House number: 07407637,
SatLite Ensured Ltd: 05901331
As Satlite informed me over the phone they are 'officially' known as Sat-Lite Ltd. With a bit of luck and if we all have a go, we may be able to connect these companies!
Joe I've just seen your post - way to go!!! I'm in no position to say 'pay' or 'don't pay' so I'm glad you can encourage us to keep strong. I think now is where the nerves will strain, waiting for officialdom to get back to us so that we know where getting somewhere.
Chin up everyone - keep checking in - LizzieM replies to Jackie| 1 replyHi Jackie. I explained all this to the man I spoke to today, but I also said (and I don't know if you've tried ringing 0844etc), that the phone is answered by Sampora. If you go on to explain what you're calling about i.e. that you don't recognise this debt from Satlite, they ask you if you have an account number. If you say yes, he (name John Cuttriss), replies that in that case your details have been passed to Capital Credit and he can't therefore discuss the matter any further - its out of his hands. That, to me, means that they've taken over from Satlite. Because Sampora is regulated, the Financial Ombudsman will make a complaint on your behalf. Does all that make sense? I also find out from searching online that Skylite Ensured was dissolved - shouldn't this mean that all their so-called debts are cancelled too - or am I being a bit thick?
- KatyStupid me........how on earth can they collect it when you haven't been to court?? Will they be wearing dark glasses, raincoats and making you an offer you can't refuse while scratching their big red noses and tripping over their big stupid shoes?.....FFS!!!!!!!
- LizzieM| 1 replyHi again! Katy- check this out - http://www.reed.co.uk/job-details/?JobID=20658346. This is Satlite advertising for staff. In their blurb you'll see that they are partners with Porta Verde Financial Services Ltd. Now go onto Sampora.com, scroll down to the bottom and you will see that they are an appointed representative of - guess who? - Porta Verde Finanicial Services Ltd. I've tried to find out who the directors for Porte Verde are - a Mr Leon de Costa, Barrister and Mr James Malcolm Dingwall, Compliance Officer. These names don't ring a bell, but there is a definite link now between Satlite and Sampora. I think its to Porte Verde that the Financial Ombudsman are sending their complaint. I've got a head-ache!
- Caller: Satlite
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Jackie replies to LizzieMThanks for that Lizzie I will have a go tomorrow. This is all getting very complicated!!!
- LizzieMBefore I finish for the night I leave you all with a quote for Satlite's requirements for the job they are advertising.....
"Build systems, process and procedures that work towards the vision that every consumer will have a positive lasting memory of our business and its products."
I'll certainly have a lasting memory, but it won't be positive!- Caller: Satlite
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Katy replies to LizzieMLizzie you're brilliant!!!
I have to stop tonight but what a link you've given us all!!!
Been checking out Law stuff and found loads of consumer protection regs but it needs a clear head to look at properly so I'll have a look tomorrow.
if anyone has time - page 7 (at top of page), on this thread, has Director info which ties Satlite and Sampora together also.
Thanks so much for this, brilliant bit of work. - LizzieM| 3 repliesOh boy, oh boy - rough transcript of conversation I had with one Ben Watson from Capital Credit last night.
Me: Do you acknowledge receipt of my letter on September 19th?
Ben: Yes, but that was after we'd raised your debt to £198
Me: But you received it the day before the 7 days you gave me to pay.
Ben: No because it was the company that handles our mail who received it on the 19th. We have put your case on hold, but the amount you owe is £198
Me: I don't accept that, as I know you received my letter on the 19th. Not my problem that it wasn't in your hands until later.
Ben: If you pay me now we'll accept £144.
Me: Sorry, am I getting this straight? You have put my case on hold as I am disputing the debt with Satlite, but you have still raised the collection fee unless I pay you right now?
Ben: Yes, that's right.
Me: Is this call being recorded?
Ben: Yes, all out calls are recorded.
Me: Good. In that case could you repeat clearly what you just said.
Can you believe it??? (Actually, you probably all can) - Katy replies to LizzieM| 2 repliesI think it would be agood idea for those of us who've had conversations with Capital Credit to submit SARS for their transcripts too - further evidence for Action Fraud.
I had someone called David East (?) offer to cut it by £40-odd if I paid there and then..."although I shouldn't say this". I refused as that would be agreeing that anything was owed at all!! Is this normal practise for a Collection agency?
Love that advert Lizzie - they're not wrong are they?
I realise that the money's adding up if I ask you all to submit SARs left, right and centre at £10 per go - perhaps the Misrepresentation Act letter you posted above will do the trick also for obtaining transcripts.
Has anyone else heard from their MP?
I'm off to do further digging and to start collating all the info we've got together so far properly, should any of the media finally show any interest then all will be chronologically documented.
Do any of you mind me quoting your posts?...... - Martin| 4 repliesMy Story is exactly the same as Captain America, after the call I contacted trading standards and they advised me to cancel the contract in writing within the cooling off period I did this and received no reply from Satlite next I am being hassled by Capital credit I sent them all previous correspondance which they are ignoring. My charge has now risen to £198.00 and threats of a door step visit.
Does anybody have any idea what to say or do if they do visit.- Caller: Satlite
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Katy replies to Martin| 3 repliesThey have no court order, they're not Bailiffs Martin so you can tell them to naff off IF they turn up.
Seems to me that they like to batter people with demands and then threaten to turn up just for the hell of it!
Have you had any advice? Check with Consumer Direct initially, 0845 404 0506 and tell them that many people have contacted them about this company and their Collectors, complain and get their advice. Then call Action Fraud, they're aware of all of this and will take details from you.
Write to your MP and read previous posts on here - on page 6, Hossenbux (many thanks to him/her), has posted loads of info.
Look at the "Which" consumer site - lots on there.
Also keep checking back here.
If they do turn up - tell them we all send our love............. - Martin replies to Katy| 2 repliesThanks for the info Katy called Consumer Direct and they advised what to write in my letter to Capital Credit, called Action Fraud yesterday and they advise it was not fraud but a civil matter.
- Katy replies to Martin| 1 replyIn that case you will need to submit a subject Access request to SatLite/Sampora, (details of how to are a few posts back), Action Fraud need hard evidence before they will pass this to the police to investigate. I strongly advise that you send one to Capital Credit Management also (unfortunately it costs £10.00 for each submission), I'm pretty sure this is the only way we're going to get any redress here.
Before I saw your last post, my Mum called to say that Capital Credit had sent another letter stating that as she hadn't paid, her bill has now jumped to £195.00!! - the letter was dated 21/09/11, we paid these idiots their blood money on Monday 19th!! When I contacted them a moment ago they told me the letter had been written on the monday 19th but dated 21st!!!
The bloke I spoke to was, as they all are, arrogant and uncaring and said I would have been told that another letter may go out before the payment clears when i called. I was not, and he then said that it would've been recorded, so the only way I can argue this now, so that I can formally complain about them as well, is to submit the SAR........problem is, I don't trust them not to change the transcripts and I don't know how the hell we prove they have if that's the case.
This is tying up so much of all our time and I can't believe none of us have had any contact from the press - does no-one care?? (Must try to put positive head on again!) - LizzieM replies to Katy| 1 replyYou can quote me Katy! I'm about to send of SARs to Capital Credit and Satlite - on top of my misrepresentation letters. Be interesting to see what, if anything comes back. (Can't wait to see my signature on the contract I never received!) Haven't had time to contact police or MP yet, but I'll get onto it. I'm wondering if there's any way we can make ourselves into a more formal group as well assending in our individual evidence. Would it give us any more strength? Any ideas?
- LizzieM replies to KatyI had same concern about the transcripts Katy, so I asked for copies of the tapes as well - don't know if I'm entitled to them though. I'm sure they'd be asked to produce them in court if we contested the transcript, so either way they'll show themselves as liars if they doctor them.
- Katy replies to LizzieMI was wondering that too Lizzie, there doesn't seem to be a way to pm each other on here does there? I'll contact my ISP and see if can set up another email address to give you all so that maybe we could set up a campaign group and keep in touch that way I think we'd also have more 'clout' as a recognised group. I'll see what they say.
How would everyone else feel about it? I don't know how we do this without Satlite/Sampora getting their eyes on what we're doing.
My Mum's most recent letter from the debt collectors was to say they were going to call sometime between 9am-8pm, Monday to Saturday...ha ha how ridiculous are they?
I got back in touch with Consumer Direct and they've forward the case to my local Trading Standards office - they'll be in touch within the next 5 days...
I've also just now emailed Sky to ask for their help, (they must be losing business - I've told Mum not to speak to anyone even from Sky if they call and I'm sure all of you will do the same!)
I've spent the morning trawling through every single post I can find about Skylite/SatLite/Sampora so that I can collate a document and chronology we can all use when complaining and speaking to the various agencies, so many people have posted such a lot of info on here it's amazing.
That may take me a couple of days to complete, but at least if ever Watchdog or someone else in the media ever take an interest we will have the one 'running order' and set of info to give them
I wonder how Jackie, Joe, Captain America and the others are getting on?
Thanks for the constant contact Lizzie, and to all of you. Keep going!
