and before u ask, i know because i was in fact one of those people who called you.. we ring halifax bos and sainsburys customers who have fallen into arearrs on their credit cards, the only info we ask for is your year of birth only, not the date or month, and your postcode!! never give out other info such as passwords or acc numbers, thats just being silly now!

i left my "brilliant job" because i was sick and tired of all the crap and abuse i got off thick people who didnt understand their credit cards! and people moaning that they didnt want to give me top secret info like their year of birth! i wasnt able for it!

maybe if u people actually checked ur credit card statement or checked ur online banking to see did u miss a payment, instead of spending so much time bein schitzophrenic paranoid freaks on the internet, discussing "the bad people who are calling you to scam out of ur money" then u wouldnt have a problem!!!

the only thing i would agree with people with is the lack of customer service, and the amount of calls people get, but in reality ur only dillusional to think that the bank rings you on a sunday evening at 8pm.

Been having calls from this number for about 2 weeks now, but the funny thing id they are asking for my 3 year old, who has no form of halifax account in her name. Please tell why a 3 years old would have a creadit card?

It's ridiculous. I have nothing to do with "Bank Of Scotland", who these people claim to be from. I asked why they can't just leave a message and wait for me to contact them, and they said "Because we are a bank, we can't do that," It's just stupid. I want to know what bank calls from 8.15am to 8.45pm every day, including Sundays. The odd thing is, I've never had a credit card...explain that.

I have received calls from this number regularly now this past week, sounds like a foreign call centre. I tried not to be rude but am now losing my patience. They phone my mobile and my home telephone. Surely if BT knows about these bogus calls, they can do something about it. I am getting more and more infuriated.

Just had call claiming to be from Bank of Scotland, I said I didn't have an account with them and asked for reason they were calling me, they said they could not divulge any info without answering their security questions first so I said I wouldn't divulge any info to them without knowing who they were first, woman seemed a bit "miffed" by this bad attitude of mine and became quite abrupt in her tone so I hung up. I would urge anyone to do the same.

Will not stop calling, approx 10 times a day, they say they are from Halifax and want my pin number, as I do not have an Halifax account and goggling the number I know this is some sort of scam. I have told them not to ring and I have reported them to the police, but they still keep rining, I then told them the phone belonged to my 6 year old child and were they stupid he does not have any bank accounts, but they still keep ringing.  What can be done to stop them - there should be some way of tracing them and fining the company involved surely!

I have just had a phone call (4th in one day) from these so called banking people and warned them to stop. Where do they get your info from. The only people who do have my mobile number are the Halifax, does make you wonder!!!!When I rang them earlier today, they told me it is a scam and know all about it.

I have received numerous calls from this number,1st time I answered, the person could not even remotely pronounce my name. I have now stopped answering their calls. However I called HBOS and the gentleman there confirmed that it is one of their numbers, it is a collection centre, regarding late payments on credit cards.

Just received a call from 08445811014. she asked for me by my full name. She was foreign, as to whether she was calling from abroad or not I wouldnt know. When i asked who was speaking she said it was Halifax. I have had genuine calls from halifax recently and therefore was not sure whether it was to do with this or not. I just "right ok" expecting her to go on and then she just hung up.

I am pretty sure this is a 3rd party debt collector from the Halifax.  I know I owe money and will be soon be able to pay this off, today is Sunday and they have called me no less than 6 times and it is only 3.00pm.

Yeah i got a call from them- usually when its a number i dont know i always let them say hello first. But as you all say they didnt say anything on the phones after 6 secs they hanged up.

Received calls from the 0844 number now, and like everyone else was told they were calling from the Halifax about a personal finance matter but I needed to confirm not only my name, date of birth, postcode but also account number!!!!!   Yeah right........do I look like a fool?......OK, you can't see me so no need to answer that!

Told them I would ring them back but they hung up.....wonder why! Spoke with Halifax who are aware of this company but didn't offer any suggestions/reasons why they are calling on their behalf.

I receive multiple calls a day from people claiming to be from Halifax. I have a joint account with an ex from years ago. When I refused to give them any information they divulged to me the name of the ex with whom I share the account with. I said they had better speak to him then, they got quite irate when I said this and said I should go to a Halifax branch?? Not behind on any credit card payments either??

i get about 20 missed calls from them everyday for the last 2 weeks, i have not answered yet, next time they call i will answer and do as you guys seem to have done and requested it in writing, seems a sensible idea to me!

I hate to say it. This is apparently (I've just called Halifax) a genuine number. Their staff are just trained appallingly. The call is from their collections department. I would imagine that staff are trained to ask those questions, but it really sets alarm bells ringing when someone calls you and asks for personal details in a non-UK accent. If you're still unsure when you receive these calls, I would call Halifax and check the status of your credit card. One important point to note. I am behind on my first credit card payment, because I thought that my 9 months 0% interest on new purchases would not involve a monthly payment for 9 month. YOU STILL HAVE TO MAKE MONTHLY PAYMENTS. It's just that the whole of your monthly payment for the first nine months comes off the credit card balance - none is taken as interest. This lesson has just cost me £12 in charges.

They called me and they had my real name asking for a date of birth and that this was personal business. Didnt give it and they eventually hung up.  Very dodgy indeed.

Called last week offering mobile phone contract, phoned again as they kept phoning about 5 times per day, i answered now offering credit card.

Now in my reject list on my phone!

I have just phoned Halifax retail bank collections (as I am not working and in arrears), who say that my account is on hold, and has not been passed to anyone else.  They do not use this number and. No one has been trying to contact me as they are aware of my situation.

This is not halifax calling, they will try and get you to make what ever payment you can as a token payment if you are in debt.  This is most definately a scam.  They will ask you for your card details etc.  luckily I have no money so they could not scam any out of me!
