Having received another 3 calls today, I rang Halifax who I have an Amazon credit card with. I had missed a payment so they confirmed that it was their collections department chasing payment. I paid my overdue amount (less than £10!) and asked them to close my account because of the harrassment. Told them they could have sent a letter. They replied that they had sent one on Friday (I haven't received it yet) and apologised for the "aggressive nature" of some of their colleagues. Now the calls will stop (they told me!)

With ref to a comment by "Branch Manager" on 28/4/09 (on page 23 of this site), I had a call today at 0955 from 08445811014 again. It sounded dodgy so I rang the official inbound tele no for HBOS and they said that they did NOT call me. Somehow the scammers are managing to ensure that when somebody dials 1471, the no of the last person to call appears as genuine, ie 08445811014. I have reported this to HBOS. Has "Branch Manager" got any views on this? Also, who knows if some of the positive comments on this website are not from the scammers themselves? Food for thought, would like to read any further views on my comments. It is not paranoia by any means. A better system of security would be to be issued with a personal code from your bank branch and the caller must tell YOU that code before any further conversation (too easy?). I think it is time long overdue for the banks to make an official comment on their own websites about the matters reported on websites such as these. Do they not accept that it is a problem and the grief that it is causing? Come on Banks, I know that you read this website!

This number is also calling me every day and leaving no answer messege which in itself is strange, becase if they were a proper company they would leave a message saying who they were and would ask me to get in touch with them when possable, so i havent been answering either.

I missed last months payment on Halifax one credit card and started getting these calls so yes it is a collections number, whether its outsourced i'd say yes , the actual Halifax collections number to pay is an 0800 number so this would be a company doing it for them.If you owe a payment my advice is to pay only halifax on their official main number or pay over the counter at a branch and ignore these calls as they should go away, paid mine up to date yesterday at a branch so will see how long it takes for them to stop calling

08445811014 rang me today. I answered, they said they were calling from halifax and asked for my year i was born. I told them (stupidly), they then hung up. What could happen to me? Im abit worried now.

They call anywhere between 8am - 8pm, including sundays. The phone rings for exactly 20 rings before they hang up, and when you do answer there is no one there. Sometimes if I listen closely I can hear typing in the background. I wish they would just buggar off, we have to unplug our landline.

Don't give your details make them write to you, when you say this to them they get stroppy and abusive.... totally unprofessional although not a scam (HBOS, AA credit cards etc) if its that important they will put it in writing instead of using half trained, poor english speaking people on minimum wage.
They get stroppy because they get in to trouble if they don't hit targets don't help them, don't give details, and get their number barred.

Just got a call from 08 445 811 014 number claiming to be Halifax. The woman spoke with an extremely strong african accent so I found it difficult to understand her and refused to give my details.  She was not rude in anyway, but said she couldn't discuss anything without first confirming my details.  When I refused she gave me a real Halifax number to call (guess this makes her seem all the more genuine) however when I called them they had no record of the call out to me taking place.

This number has been calling my mums mobile number repeatedly at stupid times of night, first time they called my mum was driving so i answered.  The woman said she was from halifax and was looking for my mum, (she knew her name and sounded foreign).  I said she was driving and asked to take a message so the woman just rudely ignored me and hung up.  They have been silent called three times a night ever since.

Does anyone know who i can speak to about this. They have also called the landline from a different number beginning 02 something something, as someone else mentioned too.  They have only used the 0844 number to call the mobile but im sure they are the same group.  and it always sounds like theres a telly or something on in the background.

arghhhhh...these people are doing my head in calling numerous times a day!

i have had about 8 calls from this number since 0700hrs today.actually thought it was my bank until i looked on here!! am a bit fed up of them calling everrrrrry day

Called several times but never leave messages. Who ever they are they phone increasingly later in the evening too.

They have rang my mobile constantly for at least 3weeks..they do not leave any message. I do not have a Halifax card or account so why they should be ringing me I have no idea..its just a damn nuisance..

I am very annoyed at the fact that i recieve a call from this number using and automated voice each and every time....this automated voice has my full name and parts of my DOB. They claim that they are from the halifax in regards to an overdue credit card payment and eventually ask me to answer security questions and then make a payment over the phone towards a credit card bill.....i dont have one to make a payment on!!!! This is diabolical.... how the Halifax can be so lax with their customers personal information is beyond me, i know they went into administration but surely things werent so bad that they felt the need to start scamming their exsisting customers!!!!
as u can tell i am very annoyed about this and think this behaviour is disspicable!!!!

I called the number 08445811014 and the people who picked up were the bank of scotland, so there the people who have been ringing you.

Been calling me constantly today very annoying

I have had number of calls from this number and getting pested last weekend i had 11 calls in total while iwas away,and further 5 since but you pick up the phone no one speaks no sound so now i do not answer,
this has to stop here and now or further action must be taken forewith,.

these people how ever they are do not speak nor indentife themselfs,
nothing just silence, action needs to be taken now and
stop this,
this number wants to be barred forewith,
these people have called my number even at 8.45 in the evening,
lets put a stop to this now,.
action needs to be taken againist these people now,.

Have been called twice by this number on my work number.  They have my name and claim to be from Halifax.  They ask to verify details and when I say that I am suspicious as I don't have a Halifax account anymore they say that I must have some product from Halifax for them to have my number.  Why they have my work number to discuss bank details I don't know but I am sure they are bogus.
