Same as the others really.  Got a recorded message telling me I'd won some sort of competition.  Press 9 if I wanted to opt out - this didn't work and voice kept talking.  Some time before I could use the phone.  these sort of calls worry me as I'm sure they probably have a way of charging you as you are listening or trying to terminate the call!

I am sick to the back teeth with this caller. My husband is very seriously ill and is not getting any peace at all. I am with the telephone preference service so this is very worrying.
They are conducting some sort of market research. 0845 030 4400

I am ex-directory and registered with TPS,and another company I subscribe to, to try and stop these type of calls, have a serious illness and am worried that 0845 0304 400 are calling me. I often get bothered by unwanted calls so seems there are no ways to stop them.

This number called this evening at 17.30
We are registered with TPS but it seems that this is ignored and makes no difference.
We get a call like this every evening at this time.

I had acall from the above number which went to the answering machine, an automated message requested that I answer questions by pressing numbers on my telephone, I did not bother.
Call was made on Sunday at 15.32.

Automated questionaire wanting to know if we had ever purchased appliances based on their energy ratings.

No company name given.  Call stopped after obout 30 seconds of not responding to the questions.

well I did email, Kirk was returned but I did receive a reply as follows:

Hi,

I've been forwarded your details regarding an ICO complaint.

Please be assured it is never our or our customers intention to annoy or harass anyone and if you would like to return me your phone number we will add it to our stop list.

Although it is well within your rights to complain to the ICO, I would point out that Curved Air conduct Market Research Surveys, which are not covered by TPS legislation.

17. Will registering on the TPS stop market research calls?
No, market research calls are not covered in the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 therefore companies conducting these types of calls are still allowed to call a TPS registered number. If you do not want to receive such calls, inform the caller to remove your details from their call lists.
Once again I apologise for any inconvenience caused and if you could send your phone number I will add it to our stop list and our system will not call you again.

I'm puzzled & perturbed that the TPS allow 'markeitng calls' which as we know is b%%%%cks & just another way to sell...

I received a phone call from Marcus Lasghley within an hour of my email to Diane Taylor.

He is arranging to add my number to their stop list.

Call 10am this morning, reached my answer machine.  Registered with TPS so worrying that they have my number as I have not given it out to any energy company, even the one I use.

A tip, if you recognise the number again, don't answer and let it go to answer machine.  The system does not get any answers and cuts out after 1 minute. Phone can then be used imediately.

I got the survey today, pressed 9 to "opt out", nothing seemed to happen.

A coule of hours later I got another similar automated message from 08433296415 claiming to be the PPI Helpline. It also said to press 9 to opt out, I didn't bother this time.

I just received this reply.

"Just to let you know your number  has been added to our stop list and you will not be contacted by Curved Air Global or any of our customers again.

Unfortunately PPI helpline has nothing at all to do with us, so we cannot be responsible for them.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused."

PPI Helpline nothing to do with them? I'm not convinced.

Just been called by the Hot House people, same issue - can't hang up and cler the line, pressing nine just seems to confirm they have a real body on the line and does nothing.

Reported to ICO.

Call received at 10.00 (18th June 2011), answered telephone, no sound, then dial tone...

Just been in touch with BT, and although registered with TPS, the UK "government" is allowing "market research" calls through. You cannot report them, and they are approved!

Advice from BT: put the phone down, do not respond or redial any number.

What a crap deal. Bloody UK goverment!
