Of course, whilst it's ok to e-mail or write an opt out to "Hot House Energy" a quick look and prowl shows that there appear to be at least a few if not a myriad of £100 capital limited companies registered at this address - meaning that, I've little doubt that you would have to contact them all and have proof of that contact for a definite case against them for continuing to call!

They'll simply pass the buck, saying you haven't registered your opt out with "Curved Air Marketing", "Curved Air Global", and all the other companies they appear to have registered. Each company will claim to be a seperate entity and not affected by your "opt-out".

There's a distinct lack of contact points and e-mail addresses for a company claiming to be "communications" friendly!

I had one of these calls today. The woman spoke so fast I couldnt follow her. I hung up but the phone rang again and a third time I am on TPS so this shouldn't happen AFAIK

I too have been registered with TPS (Telephone Preference Service )for over 12 months yet still we get plagued by these infuriating calls. Looks like TPS is a waste of time - Could it be that TPS isn't actually preventing the calls - could it actually be unwittingly providing numbers registered with them to the offending callers - now there's food for thought !

Got called from this number, it blocked my telephone form 10 minutes i was waiting for an important phone call which i have now missed. THANKS

I keep getting these calls - when you get these calls HANG UP RIGHT AWAY, DO NOT PRESS 9. By pressing 9 they can somehow use the your number to make calls through. Not sure how it works, but it is a SKAM SO HANG UP!!

we are x directory and also with phone preference service so it is a waste of time as we get these calls, also beware EON phone and dont answer

Where can I get that type of phone and answer machine I am sick of these calls

we have a true call machine (Amazon) bit expensive but in the last 6 months i have had no sales calls
as this machine filters them all out
It also records and logs the date and time of all calls ( Computer needed)

I have sent quite a few complaints to OFT for harrasing number of calls from a couple of companys(8 in 15 mins)and they are looking into it. well worth the expense
other than that try a panasonic tel/ansewr machine it has call blocking on it

Received call this morning from this number. Allegedly an energy usage survey with £50 M&S vouchers as prize in draw for taking part.

Hold the phone and refrain from pressing any digits and the computer at the other end will detect no answer and hang up on you.

Had this company call today it is hot house energy company as previously mentioned I too am TPS registered and filled in a complaint form on their site ... an email back from apparently they are unable to deal with automated calls but told me if the calls persist to contact this company

A little insidious; I'll bet it revolves around Peel Holdings surveying locals about their feelings on a proposed biomass incinerator!

Same type of message as everyone else; tied up my line for several minutes.  If I'd needed to make another call, even an emergency call, I'd have been stuffed.  Service provided by Thus PLC.

Got a message from this number this morning.  All I got was the word "survey" it sounded as if it were part way through a message.  Told me to press 9 and they wouldn't call again.  As I didn't know who they were or what they wanted, I didn't.
Instead dialled 1471 to get their number.  Phoned that and got a message saying the number was temporarily disconnected.  Tried again later and got continuous droning noise.
I'm also registered with the TPS, and this isn't good enough, they should abide by the law - whoever they are.
I'm in Scotland, but it was an English female voice on my call.

Same thing here tonight: A 38 second long call on my voicemail.

Interestingly, they called my SIP phone number which isn't usually connected to anything. If they think they can get a survey response out of an unattended Sipgate sever, they're welcome to keep trying...

This happened to me today. The phone rang and went automatically onto my answerphone. The 'survey', which is a recorded message began immediately. I couldn't cut off the call, it went on for ages. Eventually I switched off the electricity at the mains to disconnect it. Today I was at home but usually I am at work. So how many times does this happen when I'm not at home?

This is disgusting - someone should stop these calls !

Just had the same call for an "Energy Survey".

Hung up and tried to dial 1471, but the line seemed to stay open even after hanging up?!?! WTF!

So, in essence, pressing 1 to begin 1471 actually registered as a response and the voice said "Thank you" and hung up.

I'm hoping that it hasn't now put us on a spam call this number list now.

Very angry that they can use tech that enables the call to stay live even though I've hung up. GGRRR!

Recorded message from Scottish Woman asking if I'd like to answer some questions for Market Research.  0845 030 4400 was the telephone number.  Pressed 9 to opt-out and the call did disconnect.

The ICO received enhanced powers on Wednesday to fine firms that are caught making unwanted marketing phone calls or sending unwanted marketing emails to consumers of up to £500,000.
