Sadly TPS will not stop calls which claim to be Market Research.  I cannot understand why, as they are as much of a nuisance as all the other cold calls. Perhaps Market Research companies help fund TPS. Perhaps if enough people complain about Market Research companies to TPS they may get off their backsides and actually do something.  Then again, pigs might fly!

Go to www.donotcall.gov and file a formal complaint with the federal government.

Just got this call again today, an (automated) woman with a Scottish accent so thick I thought she was foreign and I had trouble understanding what she was saying. Dozy company had dialled my phone which always get vetted by my very long answer phone message, and she just kept talking and talking asking the answerphone to press buttons... but eventually they hung up :( .

TPS registered here too, but I make sure if they phone me it costs them and  I hold the call as long as possible so at least 1 other person won't suffer that day!

As soon as I can get my broadband on another landline company that isn't BT, or BT does line only for broadband, I'm doing it!

Powergen ceased trading as Powergen in 2007, so it's not from Powergen.

Just got a call from this number.  Only just had "Caller ID" activated or would not have known who it was.
After reading 3-4 pages of this "blog" this annoying caller system seems to have been in operation for over 3 years!!   It does not appear that anyone in officialdom could give a stuff about it or is in a position to do anything!!  Having regulation seems to be bit of a waste of time!  Where does one go from here to get  these annoying b******s stopped???

we had a call saying it was M S doing a survey on electrical goods and there was a £50 prize. We ignored it even though we thought it was a legitimate Marks and Spencer survey. We always have our answer phone on and they ended the call.

A**eholes. Called me at 10.20am. Am also TPS registered. This is for those who google The Hot House Energy Company. Do you really want to use a company with this method of cold calling and ignoring the law?! Spend your money elsewhere with a reputable firm, there are tons of them all offering great deals... this company clearly lacks a few morals!

Haha  - at last I have sorted this little blighter out...............contacted Telephone Preference Service and had a response after explaining that it is marketing with a means to increasing sales!    

So, to all of you our there bombard TPS and make your complaints, sometimes they need a little promting if you can investigate a little . The have contacted the company.  Funny the phone has been quiet since.

First time for awhile I've had a call from this number but I don't answer it and it goes to answer  phone after seven rings and that's the way these phone calls should be dealt with.have .a phone with a caller display ,goes to answer phone after seven or so rings. then they tend not to ring again for awhile..!

For some happy reason nuisance calls like this one tend to come through on my fax line.  All I hear are two rings and then silence.  I hope it irks them much more than it irks me!

Just had one of these, but was out when they called.  After reading this little lot I've saved the number as SPAM, so if they ring again SPAM appears in my caller display.

Fortunately my phone holds about 400 numbers!  There are a lot of SPAM numbers in their now.

I got this call at 12:30 today, my answerphone took it for me.

if you call  08450304400 is part of the Thus (part of Cable & Wireless) number range. You have to call Thus customer support on 08000270000 to get them to send on a message to the operator of the number. They will then ask the company that rents the 0845 number out-not the end user, to stop it. If you insist they will give you the operators name,   they in turn give you  01619291580  hale communications ask for  terry, they appear to rent hire  lease. the 08450304400  out to a client of whom which, when asked the give you a contact nymber of  01616622924 (automated  system as before waste of time)  terry apparently only has a email address of which to pass on your telephone number to the customer he apparently knows nothing about a phone number,or wont give you  there email address . so phone terry and make him aware  your not happy about the lack of information he can supply you with, as obviously a customer they should be under some sort of obligation to have or know who the client is whose hiring/renting/leasing  08450304400   number to, tps shouls sit up and take notice of this
