I have received calls from this number too (among others). I reported it to Barclays, they confirm it's nothing to do with them. I also reported it to the police who told me to inform Consumer Direct and the Financial Services Authoirty. The best thing to do is just ignore them... or fire an air horn down the phone.

I got a new contract phone about 9 months ago but in Feb started getting calls from 08453004275...15 in total som on Sundays!  I called Barclays to advise I am NOT Scott Smith, Julian Smith, Gillian Smith OR Nick Smith...my surname is not even Smith so waht's going on?  They tolad me maybe somebody else has submitted my number in error but I'm pretty certain all of those people would NOT have submitted my same number!!  Anyway, it stopped for a couple of months but yesterday and today I have been getting calls from 08448110333 & 08448110214 asking for the same people and claiming to be Barclays.  Getting pretty hacked off asking them to delete my number every time and nothing being done about it.  Thinking of going into Barclays and threatening legal action.

The best way to deal with muppets like these is: when they say 'hello is that xxx' or ask to speak to the person say 'hold on a minute' or 'I'll get them for you' then rest the phone on the table (don't hang up).  That way their time is taken up and they can't be annoying anyone else.

If everyone did this they would never get anything done - hurrah!

Obviously after a while check the phone again, they will have gone. Works a treat for any scammers, cold callers etc etc.

I just rang Barclays and asked them who this was, and the girl confirmed it was Barclays.. If you want to get taken off the list just tell the person you spoke to that you dont want to be called any more.. Job done!
