- AngelaThis 08453004275 number is pissing me off i don't have barclays i just arrived recently here in the UK, so how can it be?
hahahaha ...i dont even have a job yet and national insurance number so how can they say it's barclays bank as im not working yet and no money going throguh barclays or in my secret bank..hahah they are very scamm...!!! bloody c**t - tonyHi,
Same as a few of you, just get calls but I just dump the call, on the basis that they will give in if they are playing the odds game!! - g73513Had barclays bank on the phone, Saying they that i was overdrawn by 143.56. Funny that i haven't got a bloody account with Barclays.
- BelleHave received 6 calls from this number to my mobile in the last hour. Over the past 2 weeks they have been calling my home phone number at least 10 times a day - and yesterday they somehow managed to get hold of my mobile number too and are now calling both numbers several times a day - I don't have a Barclays account either!!!!
- ECNHave just received yet another call from a supposed "Barclays Bank" insisting that we have a bank account with them (which I have never had, and my husband cancelled over 3 years ago. Apparently we owe them some money (when I asked for the details they first asked for my date of birth - which I refused to give)!! Why do they need this information bearing in mind I dont even have an account. I told them we have received the same sort of phone call on Friday evening, insisting again that we owe them money and that we need to come to some arrangement to repay the outstanding overdraft. I told him that after typing the telephone number into Whocallsme.com, it clearly states that this is a SCAM and to ignore it, The caller said that it wasn't a scam and that in order not to get blacklisted I need to take the call seriously. I told him to get lost in the nicest possible way and put the phone down. Whatever you do, do not divulge any information. My husband has since been on the phone to Barclays and they advised that they never contact people in this manner, any outstanding monies owed would be written in an official letter, and to ensure that no details are ever given over the phone. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!
- PeterGWhat is it with you guys. OF COURSE its the bank. Asking you to confirm your details for security purposes is absolutely standard practice and is to saeguard YOU as much as them. I DO owe money so googled the number to see who it was. No conspiracy or scam here. Get real.
- shaniam getting this call everyday when you pick it no answer
- shanif its from the bank why dont they spwak up and will teycall on a sundayat 8.45am i dont think its real also its more like miss calls too.
- prabhakarits an ununsual call. i find it difficult understand these fake calls.what the hell is happening?
- HayleyI too keep receiving these calls and have been for about a month - I have picked it up a couple of times and all i got was people talking in like a call centre and nobody saying anything into the phone....!!! Its getting a little annoying now!
- 08453004275 KFThey called me, knew my name, address, bank balances, all phone numbers etc... seems it may be the bank - they even told me my overdraft limits etc -
Still I refuse to give further info to be on the safe side and will deal with this in branch!!!- Caller: barclays????
- denzilThey have called my sons mobile number plus he had a text as well saying he was overdrawn. Two things he's eleven and doesn't have a bank account let alone with barclays. Wife went into the bank and was told that the bank don't ring people.
- Caller: ???????
- DaveThey rang, i answered. They hung up! ARGGGHHHH!!!!! Pricks!
- Caller: ????
- NatashaI get a silent phonecall from this number 0845 300 4275 every day at work.
- damnthem!I'm also getting incessant calls from this number: early Sunday morning, weekday mornings, random times during the day. It's harrassment. I now keep my landline permanently off the hook - not terribly convenient for others though. They should not be allowed to do this (if it is Barclays as someone suggests) - they can put whatever it is in writing so that cutomers have the opportunity to fully consider their response. These days I find that Barclays won't even provide written confirmation of arrangements when I do speak with them on the phone. This credit crunch is a great opportunity for ordinary people to speak up. In the meantime - my phone is off the hook.
- Dj_£vOIm having exactly the same repetitive calls, some on the house phone and others on my mobile and have had 2 today already, one at 8.30am and this one at 9.45am, it really bugs me now! I have managed to speak to someone once and bluntly said call back after 6 as I am at work, but they never do, only seems to be between 8am and 5pm when they make these calls! ANNOYING!! Who knows it may even be a number that charges you when u pick up the phone or it may be a legitimate call, but who knows these days when we have so many dodgy scammers out there??
Too much information about our personal details are shared to often with other companies that we have not agreed to or heard of, its wrong!!- Caller: ??
- P CartwrightWell I have just been woken up by this number, at 8.15am on a saturday - not happy! I just didn't answer as I never answer unknown numbers anymore as I seem to get a lot of calls like this that hound me daily.if it's important enough to call on a sat morning it should be important enough to leave a message but they never do! Glad I ignored it now having read your comments
- Caller: 08453004275
- gea34eI phoned Barclays today and their fraud dept says this IS a number that Barclaycard use. BUT I then phoned barclaycard and they hadn't contacted me at all and neither had Barclays bank. So, maybe there is something dodgy going on at the call centre as well as their genuine dealings? Logged a complaint just in case.
However, Barclays bank said that the only people that will phone from them are their Fraud department and they would ask for confirmation of your sort code & account number (NOT DOB, which I was asked for). If there are no dogy things appearing when you check your statements, I see no reason why the fraud dept would call you though - so must be a scam in that instance.
I you're worried, barclays can be contacted direct on - 08457 555555 and barclaycard on 0844 8119111 (from their websites) - and they'll double-check your account is OK. If you're still called after that, you can legitimately tell them to p### off!
Just spent ages on the phone figuring that out so hope it's helpful to someone! - PamI have had about 6 calls a day off this number - I have only answered twice (as I'd read your comments) and they told me it was Barclays and asked for my date of birth. I refused to give it and asked how they got my number - they wouldn't answer, and said they'd write to me - I haven't received a letter yet. I used to bank with Barclays but don't any more, so why are they calling me? I just don't think that anyone from a bank would launch into asking you for your date of birth before even explaining why they are calling. it seems dodgy to me - especially as one woman put the phone down on me after I asked where she got my number! I've emailed Barclay's security department to report it, and am awaiting a reply.
- Deani got a call today from this number, it is barclays bank but i think that their customer service is rubbish, im sure that it is some alternated call centre where the employees have to speak to who ever the computer generates, they call me to discuss my payments which are almost finished now, trouble is...they must call between 5-10 times before someone actually talks back to me, customer services, RUBBISH!! Its a branch of barclays, debt collection but cant remember the name, maybe the other person is right who said it may well be a scam, maybe a few dodgy employees trying to gain more information of of you
