I don’t have a bank account with Barkley’s nor have I ever had one. I’ve never even given this (current) mobile number (which they use to phone me on) away to anyone but close mates. It’s not on ANY form I’ve ever filled in AT ALL. This is defiantly very, very dodgy. ‘They’ phone me – I answer, for they very brief amount of time they’re on they don’t speak a word although it sounds relatively busy in the back ground. Call lasts about 4 seconds then they hang up.

had 2 calls today from this number. he said he was from barclays bank, didnt ask me to go through security etc. he had my name and address ans asked why my loan was not being paid. i explained that there is a direct debit set up and there has been problems with it, then he asked me if i could use a credit card to pay the outstanding balance, when i said no he hung up! beware! what would have happened if i had not thought it was suspicious and given my details? perish the thought.

    Japhy,
why should you not call back?

this number called my old house yesterday. the people that live there passed on the message that i need to call the bank ASAP.

i thought it was a bit wierd, then they called my new number this morning. i dont believe my bank would call me on a sunday morning. its outside of working hours, and phoning people so early is only going to p*** them off.

also, the answerphone recording says, "if you have an account with barlcays, please have your details ready." so its obviously nothing to do with my account.

I have been getting repeated messages on my answer phone at home from various people asking for someone by name (not known at this address).  There must be a time delay between their phones calling my phone and the call being put through to the call handler, because it is obvious from the messages that they don't realise they are through to an answerphone.  Based on the info on this site I rang the complaints department at Barclays(0800 282 390).

I explained the volume of calls I was getting and that the person was unknown at my address (although I couldn't be clear on the surname).

The call handler was very helpful.  She spoke to their collections department, whilst I was on the phone.  They were able to trace the record of the person they were trying to contact, via the telephone number I gave her and confirm that in deed it is the collections department of Barclays who were ringing.

My telephone number has been deleted from their systems (which will update over night) and I have been given a reference number.  Therefore the calls should stop from tomorrow - however, if they don't I can go back as they now have my details on record.

This is the number that Barclays bank use to contact you probably every day untill they reach you esspecially when you are overdarft. The only reason they call you is to set up for you planned averdraft untill the day you tell them. I consider this pretty fair because they are willing to set up as well higher temporary planned overdraft limit if you tell them you are expecting to make any payment or direct debit from your account for example before your salary payment.
I am happy for this bank because somer other banks as LLoyds do it otherway and are charging you 15£ per day for 10 days a month so if you get overdraft in that bank you pay £150 fee per month and if are not able to pay this fee they will charge this it again and because you are overdraft more than 150£ because of their fee they will charge you £25 a day to add another 250£ next month. They are not sending any letters it is not showing on the ATM screen, they send just letter after 3 months and my friend had to pay almost 800£ for fees because he got overdraft for 25£ originally. He was not aware of this and found it out only later when he returned from abroad after few months when they said him in his bank that he is £800 overdaft and has to pay it before the end of the month otherwise they will charge him. This is what I call f..ing bank.

Started calling 4-6 times a day over last couple of days. Normally I divert to answerphone but couple of times I answered and they hung up. Today I answered and some foreign sounding man was literally going umm umm for a few seconds and then made three attempts to pronounce my name "Stephen" and failed on all three. He said reluctantly that he was calling from barclays but I challenged him and he started 'umming' again!! I told him he could be anyone and he wasn't getting any info from me.

Had experiences much the same as others. Sat 31st May 08:30am - Ian from Barclays asked my partner to get me to call my bank on Monday morning but left no contact number (I DO NOT BANK WITH BARCLAYS). Monday - Answered 2 calls myself both times they hung up. Tuesday Morning - the same. Tuesday evening - my partner answered and i was asked for by name. By the time she had called me to the phone (20 seconds) they had hung up again. This morning (Wednesday) - my partner answered again and this time they left a contact number 0844 811 0094 which when i called it was a dead line. If this is anything to do with Barclays or indeed Barclaycard as some previous comments suggest then this is completely unprofessional behaviour. It is becoming worrying because i have no idea why i am being targeted like this.

I still receive 4 calls everyday from 0845300427 but not during the weekends.  They ask for different person every time. I thought it might be a problem with 'Barclay's bank' software. I told them a minimum of 25 times that I am not the person they are asking for & I have not noticed any unprofessional behaviour - they apologise & guarantee they will remove my no off the list as I dont have a Barclay's account. I only can't help thinking the call centre is in the UK as they have various accents ranging from midlands to scotland. This has been nearly 2 months now. I don't pickup the calls for about 5 weeks now - just ignore or cut the call. This is getting annoying now & gonna get this call blocked.  The scary part is I could not accept as the person they are asking for & continue conversation to see if they are selling anything or what they are upto. I wish either the bank, mobile service provider or an independent body have looked into this.

This is the accounts call number from Barclys Bank. They call you from this number when you are overdrawn. The reason they dont leave a message is because of the personal data issues etc.

Just to add if you are having trouble with them persistantly calling and other companies you dont want calling, you can telephone your telephone provoder and tell them you are reciving a high amount of "sales calls" from certain telephone numbers. They will give you a coded telephone number to ring. You ring it and it logs your call, it then bars all sales companies from telephoning you. You can also log you home/mobile numbers on the TPS registration site for free which also cuts down the sales calls.

OK, this is 100% Barclaycard collections department. As soon as any problem occurs with your account (late/ missed payment etc) you are handed over to the collections department who hound you until the problem is rectified. I can understand reasonable attempts to make contact but when it is Barclaycard hanging up on customers at any time of the day / night then this is completely unprofessional sharkish and intimidating behaviour. As soon as your account problem is rectified then the calls will stop.
