Ive been receiving these calls for ages, just did 1471 and stuck the number in google and came up with this site like many others. Most of the time the phone will ring maybe 4-5 times then hang up, not even enough time to grab the phone so something dodgy is definatly going on. Im on TPS and ex-directory yet im still getting this [***]. Next port of call is BT to block the number, taking the piss.

This IS Barclays bank. A few months back, without realising, my loan payment bounced. This number started calling me constantly every day, up to 19 times a day! I too thought it was a scam... till Barclays sent me a letter in the post a few weeks later to say they'd been trying to contact me, that my loan hadn't been paid and that they needed paying. I phoned the number they provided, sorted the payment and the number stopped harrassing me. Coincidence? Don't think so!

after reading these comments i will not be answering the phone to this number.... i am a barclays customer and believe that if barclays want to speak to me they would surely send a letter requesting a meeting....this all sounds very dodgy....

I had fours calls today alone from this number. Not happy about it as I working nights and it has distrub my sleep today. I havent answered the call just rejected it everytime. I argree with the comments earlier if Barclays want to talk to me then they should write first, Christ they have my email address if its that urgent. I am going to complain to the banking authorities about this conduct if it is Barclays!!

OMG! i didnt know this was happening to soo many people ive been getting loads of calls answer and they hang up. but just now when i asnwered they said 'i dont remember saying anything' and then hung up. i thought it was my bank as im with barclays but i googled it and cant believe i found this site. has any1 reported this number

These idiots have been ringing me for months. I answered once and the guy ringing told me he was calling from Barclays Bank based in Manchester, he was really nice and apologized but the calls haven't stopped. The most calls I've had was eleven times in one day. Even though I have complained through the TPS I still get several calls each day from them. I will be making another complaint about them but I am also changing my phone number and will empty my account when the annual interest has been added on. This isn't marketing, it's harassment.

but i just checked the website and their was a whole list of contact numbers and none of them matched the number 08453004275 which was calling me
i think it may be a scam so next time they call confront them because i certainly will!!

Received a call from "Calvin" saying he was calling from Barclays and wanted to check my personal details, after being asked to confirm my DOB and address called the caller hung up.

Hi lucky i googled this number since they called me twice yesterday and today and in both ocasssions i missed it. Called back and they say that the bank called so now i know its not the bank.

thanks and people should really be careful these days its just so annoying that everyday its becoming a watch over your shoulder life

they been calling me for Ages ive been ignoring the calls as didnt know who it was, when i refused to give my details they told me thats fine, just go into branch. i never did so they kept calling. yesterday i answered and he asked me if i lived at "xxx xxx" i said yes, he asked me if i was born in "xxxx" i said yes, that was all, he didnt ask me for any other info.

turns out i was over my student overdraft and he was more than helpful and refunded charges and set up a temp overdraft till it could be paid off.


i have answered this number several times before to only get a blank noise or a foreign accent. collections departments do use foreign call centres. i wish i had spoke to them sooner then i would of got this sorted much quicker and saved a lot of money in bank charges!!

I do not bank with Barclays and still receive these calls fortunately they do not leave a message so they are wasting their time and money as I will never answer during normal working hours!

My mother has been receiving a call from this number trying to contact me. They say they are from Barclays Bank but I have spoken to my bank and they haven't tried to contact me and my account is fine. She has been receiving this call for the last 10 days and its annoying.

They have tried me once on my mobile but I missed the call.

I just recieved a phonecall from this number, I did not pick up but instead typed the number into google to see what it was. I assumed it would be another Orange number as I have been recieving phonecalls from 08450706745, claiming to be from orange care and trying to sell me insurance.

I have just gone on a contract with orange recently and do have a barclays account but I am certainly not overdrawn. I want to know how this 'barclays' number got my number as I have only changed to this one recently and have not been to the bank to give them my new details, if I had even given them the details of my previous telephone number!

I was worried when I thought I was being scammed by Orange but now even more worried that they are trying to get to my bank account! I am going to my branch today to speak to someone and sort this out!

Heres the solution....

When they call.... confirm that you ARE the person they are seeking. This prevents them hanging up, even when you fail the security question.

They will tell you to call into your branch of Barclays. Ask for a phone number to call back on. THEN tell them that in fact you are NOT the person they seek, and explain that you have been pestered by their department twice a day for weeks, and have regularly been hung up on.

They will give you a phone number for Barclays collections. This number 0845 300 1592 can be verified by calling ANY Barclays number you might have or can find. Call them, tell them you don't have a barclays account and ask them to check their system for your phone number. The very helpful man will check the number and when I called he confirmed the person they were looking for was the same person the original call had asked for.

Explain to the call handler that you are VERY upset at the way you have been hounded and ask, in the strongest terms, that they remove your number from their system.

I did this and received a verbal apology from them.

Barclays have been calling me everyday (two or three times) from this number asking for the previous owner of my house so on Friday I called the Customer Complaints line and told them to remove the number from their records.  The lady from Barclays called me back and said that she had found the department (collections) and removed the number.

Lo and behold I've had five calls this weekend and whilst reading this site they called again !  Brilliant timing !

I asked her where she was calling from - she couldn't tell me.  I asked her what department she was calling from - she couldn't tell me.  I asked her for a supervisor to talk to - she couldn't do that.  She confirmed that the road I lived in (didn't give house number) didn't match the address she had for the person she was after.  I asked for a number to call back on and she gave me a number for their Customer Services (who aren't open on Sunday strangely).  

The one thing that she did confirm was that my number was removed from their records on Friday night.  It had also been removed from the Automatic Dialling Machine.  When I asked why she had called me - she couldn't tell me !!

I'll be calling them first thing on Monday morning to tell them exactly how I feel.

These people are idiots, if you get them keep them on the phone long enough for them to get fed up and put the phone down on you.  That made me chuckle...

I have non stop calls from this number night and day and they are becoming a pian. When I answer I get a foreign sounding person who puts the phone down.

Hmm. Been having a few of these recently and came here to check. I dug out my Barclaycard statements to check and found that I'm up to date. Then I checked by bank account and - oopsy - my loan debit had bounced. So I thought, this must be real, but still feels dodgy. So I tried to pay it directly by calling Barclaycard and they said that I'll have to wait until Monday because the collections people don't work at the weekend. He gave me an 0844 number.

So I'll continue to ignore these calls and pay it Monday to Barclaycard.
