Yea got the exact same call today from 0845 300 4275 with an accent claiming to be from barcleys. I've just moved over from Ireland 1 month ago and got a new number with vodafone so I'm impressed that they're trying to scam me already! At best it's just someone trying to get your details (does anyone fall for these anymore?), at worst it could be a premium number which when you call back could cost 50 quid. I'd advise answering the call and giving false bank details, at least it'll slow the fuckas down for a while........

This two numbers 08453004275 and 08453006071 belong to a dept colectors for Barclays Bank. So if they call you and you do not have any loans with them check how they get your number. Maybe someone give them your number to contact or you have a loan you do not know about.

It is Barclays for sure - I was late paying my loan and they were chasing me for  the money. They tried phoning on my home/mobile & works phone and they are the only people who have access to all of those numbers.
They even had the cheek to send me a threatening text message (bit heavy or what?) .... Calls stopped as soon as I paid the outstanding amount ..... So guys - sorry but I don't think it is a scam!

Got a call just now from this 08453004275 number. Had it many a time before.

It has something to do with people working in Barclays using it as some sort of proxy to either deal with an existing customer problem even if your not the customer and create a log - as if an outstanding matter has been dealt with, or on other occasions it serves as a testing ground to a third party (dodgy) Barclays affiliate, who has aquired your number through some source etc and decided to reschedule your number to call centers across the world, so that they can then again re-ring your number from many other different numbers.

Their goal is to source as much information about you, it's your choice, give out as much information as you like, if you want an extended family anytime soon that is...

For anyone who does not irony - it's better left alone. Stay quiet...

I've had 4 calls this week on my landline; evry evening at about the same time. I get a bloke with a strong Asian (I think)accent, who asks for a name I can't make out, but is not ours. The first 2 times I told him it was the wrong number; since that I haven't answered.
I'll try TPS, then perhaps a nice loud whistle.
I was going to call back to find who it is? 0845 is local rate. Not a good idea?

I have had many calls from them now this week I haven't answered any of them as I've been at work each time - my partner answered 1 though and they just said it is her bank ringing her - I know for a fact that Barclays don't say that when they speak to someone else to leave a message. This has to be a scam I would suggest to everyone not to answer these calls and don't ring them back!!!

I'm getting daily calls from this number at various times of the day, usually while I'm at work.  I don't answer numbers I don't recognise so haven't spoken to them.  I reckon it's a scam to try and get you to ring the number back so they earn money from you when you try to ring to find out who it is.  There should be a registry of numbers like this so the owners can be held accountable for the harrassment they are clearly causing us.

They call up to 17 times a day, sometimes as early as 8.00 and late as 9.45pm. we never answer the phone anymore, but have the answer machine on the whole time.

I got phoned this morning about a personal loan payment that had been rejected from my account. The man said he was from Barclaycard and told me my address.
I spent 15 minutes on the phone to Barclaycard and they confirmed that this was one of their operatives and that the transaction I carried out on 08453004275 was a legitimate one.
Having said that, on reflection I should have refused to give out my details so easily. I guess I was lucky this time.

Is this just a massive scam then?!

They wanted me to confirm details today and I said I would ring my bank to do that. It does not make sense the bank ringing me and then me confirming details the bank already holds!

Do they think we are morons?! Nada if it is a wind up then you must work for them!

I've had calls from this number.  I'm sorry, but whilst Barclays may use this number (an assumption I'm making from the more certain of you), the people calling me from this number were nothing to do with any bank.  Aside from anything else, banks are mercenary, greedy and heartless but they do have policies and procedures in place to ensure they are not percieved to be at fault.  A large corporation like Barclays WOULD NOT hang up if you asked 'who's calling please'.  Simple as!!

    Scam.

I posted 16 Feb. First 2 evenings I let the answerphone pick it up. No message left. 3rd time a 'maybe' Asian guy asked for some name I couldn't make out, (not me). I told him he had the wrong number. Next evening the same again. This time I SERIOUSLY told him he had the wrong number.
    Nothing since.
