- DAB Badboy replies to GrobyGo to www.cprcallblocker.com and put a block on the number, then forget about it ...
- NSA SPOOKRemember, A working UK mobile phone number is worth just under £5 for spammers, scammers, unscrupulous-advertisers and the like... These are sold on within massive databases which are highly prized by the sort of people you wouldn't want to see in your back-garden never mind about getting hold of your private mobile phone numbers, Did they say 'randomly dialed'? thats the trick... it's true BUT... they are looking for hits... not misses, a 'working' number... once you answer thats it... the number is flagged as working and have you ever wondered why they are just talking sh*t with some made-up sounded 'survey' or something, doesn't matter what it is... you could talk to them about the price of custard for all they care, it's your data/phone-number they want and they sell them on by the thousands, so if you answered their little trap your now a target for spamming... beware the coming spam holocaust on your mobile, horrible f*ckers... so it's a data aggregation exercise... "Hello this is c*nt from datasuckers Ltd, wanna talk about my cat? goooood, well he's brown and smells a bit and makes a noise like a vole if you hassle him over his little farty smells... thanks then, bye bye..." - Another data-sucker into the abyss Charlie... random dialing on... sitting back drinking Tea... sell her on...
Remember your the product... 'smart' phones eh? data is the new oil they say... be smart and dump the data-spewing apps, use a laptop for computing, mobile-internet is censored now by default and don't let the f*ckers grind you down.- Caller: Populas

- John0191 276 0399 called me on Sunday morning. Fortunately I was gardening. When I called back the response (female, faintly American voice) said the number was not in service. From Google it appears to be a market survey company who are indifferent to protected numbers.

- StrouGI was pestered tonight by Populous, I am TPS and ExD and shut the idiots chatter down immediately.
TPS write the following which I share with you;
"If you want to stop these calls you will need to contact the companies that make them directly or inform the caller that the call and any future calls from them is not welcomed. Additionally, you can also request that they suppress your details. They are obliged to comply with your request. If the company continues to call disregarding your request you may seek further guidance from the Market Research Society (MRS), furthermore the MRS has a code of conduct which all its members must comply with. Their details are:

If you believe that the purpose of the call was sales/marketing but made under the guise of market research please log your complaint with TPS as receipt of a sales/marketing call."- Caller: 08453130337

- Ray| 1 replyI've just received a call from this number. The caller said that he was from Populus (at least this is what it sounded like) and that he was conducting some research on various issues which would take about 5 minutes. I said that I was not interested and asked how he got my number - he said it was by random dialling. I informed him that I would prefer not to receive this sort of call (not that it will make any difference). The only thing to be said in his favour is that he was extremely polite and spoke much better English than most of the cold callers who pester me (in spite of being registered with TPS)

- Nessy replies to RaySame here, but he would not shut up, so I put the phone down.
- SteveFor those of us who are ex-directory and/or TPS registered, the reason why we still receive these annoying calls - apart from the fact that the firms concerned are breaking what is supposed to be an enforceable code of conduct - is that they are using automated software to generate endless sequences of random numbers which are then dialled to see if they actually connect. If they don't, the software merely deletes that number from future runs and moves on. An actual person only becomes involved if the call is answered, and of course it's not that unusual for them to be already on another call, hence nobody speaks!
I hope this proves enlightening for some of my fellow persecuted out there! - Vodka FrenzyGot a call from one their employees today, I told them, I'm with the TPS (also Ex Directory - but I didn't mention). Guy explained Market research is not part of TPS so didn't apply, I couldn't be bothered, listening or asking how he got my number, so just repeatedly swore at the idiot (he should have realised he'd phoned at a really bad time) and then hung up. It seems they are IFF Research. They use RDD (Random Digital Dialling) and therefore no one is safe.

- DanielleReceived a call early in the morning. I don't know how they could have my number, since I only give it to friends and family.
They can't [***] me with that "student loans" thing because I am 17 and have never taken out a loan or contacted anyone about one.- Caller: Not stated

- AlyJust had 3 calls within an hour from this number, gave in on the 3rd and answered, as previous comments this is a company conducting a survey. Advised the girl that I was registered with TPS but she told me that as she is not selling anything they are exempt from TPS restrictions. Told her I didn't have time and asked to be removed from their database, at which point the call was ended abruptly!
- Caller: Sounded like Comms?!

- VikkiPopulous (this is who the number belongs to) called me today. I asked where they got my number as I am ex-directory. She replied that they are exempt for ex-directory despite me being registered also with telephone preference service. I told her she should not be ringing me and not to do so again. I hung up. I am quite annoyed that they have my number. This is not right. She still didn't tell me how she got my number. I never give it out to anyone so am puzzled about this.

- Old Mother RileyBeing ex Directory simply means that your number does not appear in the phone directory. No more than that. It does not mean that people cannot phone you. As you are registered with TPS you should report Sales or Marketing calls to them. Populus however is not making calls like that, as they do Market Research and might well be in a position to ignore TPS. There is no such thing as "Do not call" in this country. If you want that you need to get your MP to press for legislation. If you want to know how they "got" your number rather than dialing one at random check with the Companies you deal with. Most have Terms & Conditions allowing them to pass or sell on your personal data. Have you issued any of them with a Section 11 Notice under the Data Protection Act? If not you might well have your number open to all comers. If you have a phone, there is no such thing as privacy without absolute dedication to conserving the rest of your personal data. Welcome to the digital age.
