Buy a panasonic phone and you can block incoming calls from individual numbers. Problem solved!

Called after lunch on a Saturday. Let the phone ring while we tried to work out whose number it was. We have Caller Display. They rang off and didn't leave a message. Thanks to this forum, found out it's from a market research company. We're registered with TPS. If we answer, we ask how they got our number and explain we're ex-directory and not to call us again. It doesn't seem to work.

Got a missed call from this number I googled it and it led me here, im confused as im in Ireland I have no idea why they would ring me for UK based market research , I'll ignore if they ring back

I used to save scammer numbers on my phone until its memory ran out, so now I only save the numbers of friends, family and businesses I use and have assigned them a different ringtone to the default incoming call tone. So now whenever I receive a call that has the default tone I ignore it and later check the number against this website. If its not reported here I may call them back providing its not an 08** 09** number and the std is known to me. I usually give my mobile number where I have to so if a scammer calls me on it I will keep them chatting as long as possible to run up their phone bill. Oh yeah, I never put my home number online.

Most of the scammer numbers are faked either directly or via Skype so don't trust what you see on the caller display. If I could figure a way of costing the scammers more I would do it!!

Silent call, apart from some typing going on in the background.
Rang off after about 10 seconds.
No idea why they make these nuisance calls if they are a genuine company.

TPS registered numbers do NOT block market research. Never have done. Look online and it will confirm this to all other registered users of TPS.

   julie works for the  MRS  of which populus is a member  and populus have to adear to their code of practice   ie if you tell them to delete your number or keep on calling you contact these guys they dont mess about when they get a complaint from a member of the public  about one of their members

Ok, I had a call from these peeps, I mentioned TPS straight out, was told this didn't matter (a lie!) and obtained the following details:

Company: Populus
Address: Heaton Road, Newcastle, NE6 1SE - probable the call centre

Other contact numbers:

The callee's manager was:

Having received about a dozen calls from this number - all silent - I took Tony's  advice and e-mailed Julie Corney at
Julie dot Corney at mrs dot org dot uk
Two hours later she replied to say that she had asked Populus to put my number on their 'do not call' list.
That was on Tuesday 11th and there have been no more calls.

Just leaves the question as to why they don't respect the TPS - even if they aren't legally obliged to.
All their calls were nuisance calls, which no respectable company would allow to happen. Excuses about pre-emptive automated diallers are just that - excuses.

I have had this number ring 3 times today (a sunday) and doesnt leave a message, I am refusing to answer it!

so this dude daryl or something calls me up an tells me he doin a survey or something so I tells him where to go and hes upset...thats life my son...

They have been calling repeatedly. The most recent call at 8.40 at night. Really not impressed.

this number called me at 8.45pm  25.9.12 ,   i will report  them to TPS.

If you're selling names and private computer data without the knowledge of the persons concerned you'd better have your lawyer on standby ready for when the Data Protection authorities knock on your door!

Phoned twice but does not leave a message on my answer phone.  I have registered for call barring but it makes no difference.
