I just had a call from this company. They said that they are working for Vodafone and can reduce my insurance to a lower rate, but the insurance will still be exactly the same. I passed all my details over. After feeling like a bit of an idiot for telling them my bank details, I typed their number in to Google and came up with this website. So as I understand it, they have just conned me out of £19 if I cancel the insurance? Damn!

Well. I just phoned them to cancel (5 minutes after their first phone call), and they said I will soon be receiving a second phone call to ask me if I still want to go ahead. At that point I just need to tell them no. Apparently that second phone call is essential for them - they are not allowed to take any funds before that second confirmation call.

Their complaints procedure seems pretty good to be honest - they must get lots of people wanting to cancel!

Sorry - forgot to mention on my post above - their customer service number (apparently) is 01792464644 in case anyone needs to cancel or complain.

I received a voicemail from them with their phone number and so returned the call just now.   i have started a new contract and when i told them it was a business phone, the guy said he therefore wasn't allowed to speak to me and hung up.

definitely a scam having read all the above posts and the edginess of the gy on the end of the phone

Right - further to my comments above, they did not phone me a second time to confirm.

I checked my bank yesterday, and they have deducted £44.99 from my bank account - even though they said it would be £5.88 per month.

I phoned them today, to ask why they took the money, when (see my post above) they said not to worry - they won't take anything without me confirming on the second phone call that I am happy and still want to go ahead. I did not get that call.

They now suddenly have no record of my second phone call to them (in fact they said that I was lying!), and offered to credit back half of the money and still give me the full insurance - as a 'good will' gesture. When I said no to that, they said I may as well do that, as if they credit back the full amount, it's always minus £19.99 admin charge. They said they have never credited anyone with the full amount back - they are not able to.

Vodafone rang me to check my new phone's OK, and I explained that there are companies pretending to be them. He said that they are not able to stop this, and that my bank will credit the full amount back if I speak to them. So I phoned my bank, and they said that because it's less than £50, they are unable to claim anything back. That to me proves that this company know exactly what they are doing, and are a bunch of con artists.

So I've left it with them - the manager of Xennon is going to phone me (I doubt he will be the manager though!) to speak to me about my problems. They did say it might take a few days, as he's extremely busy. But then she said that even he has no facility to credit the full amount back, so I'm wasting my time.

I've never been spoken to in this way by a company - that also proves that they are WELL dodgy.

    STAY AWAY.

    Matt.

I have had my phone for 8 years (!!) my sim for 4. WHY are they calling me?  I have my SIM contacts backed up, my SIM will be replaced anywhere in the world within 24 hours, and handsets are 2 a penny.  These people are leeches, peddling worthless policies which almost certainly have 1,000,000 escape clauses to people who value their handsets too highly.  They should be stopped by OFCOM/The Met/O2/Whoever, but they won't be. I will report them by email to all three and we'll see what good it does.

I had a call last Friday saying as I had my phone for 1 year they would reduce the amount I paid and the excess as long as I confirmed some details. When it got to my bank details I said could they send something in the post as I wasn't prepared to disclose them. He was asking for the date my card was issued. i said he'd already have that info so why ask. I never gave the details anyway and told him to ring back when I had checked out this number.

Hi, this hapened to my daughter and her boyfriend within 1 hr of buying a phone from phones 4 u. However, I quickly sussed the problem and called them back telling them in no uncertain terms that if an money was deducted from a bank account they would be taken to court for fraud.
P4U issue a leaflet with all new phones now alerting customers to this tactic. Unfortunately, they can't stop it. What hapens is your phone number is put on an insurance database which can be accessed by any registered insurance company. They check the database hourly and that's when they try and 'con' people by just saying 'it's your mibile phone insurance here' or something similar.
P4U have assured me that they DO NOT call people about the insurance and neither does their insurance provider.

    Hope that hepls.

I have had a call from this company and thought i would buy myself some time to check them out online first.  It turns out this company is one of the very few that is actually legitimate.  I have now purchased the insurance and i am really pleased, i have a much better deal than i was offered in the p4u store, and have covered more items with them on a multiple cover option, and the staff were nowhere near so pushy.

It's all down to experience i guess.  I have had a good one, there's bad apples in every work place.  It's a shame you haven't had the experience i had.  Every thing they should have done and you would expect to arrive has done within the timescales they said..

As one other said, they are legit and it's a good deal if you take the time to listen to them. Not all companies who call your mobile are scammers....

I believe they are a company called M4U insurance, a vodafone linked company I think.

I got a second call off them today but they just hung up on me soon as I answered.  Kinda annoying since I told them I didn't want their insurance and asked them not to call me back.
