Report a phone call from 08457023461 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- SKJJust say NO!!!!!!!!!! I have had several callers asking for readings, some were quite rude. It would seem that they are compiling usage data to sell on to other suppliers. I think Npower must have sold them their mailing list!
It really was a joke because last time round, I submitted my reading on-line as requested, then this shower phoned up, then a guy came round, believable!- Caller: Scammers!

- Tracy| 3 repliesHi,
We're definitely real! We read meters on behalf of a number of energy suppliers and have done since 1996 with the deregulation of the energy market.
If you're not comfortable with giving your information over the phone though, we don't insist you do it and all you have to do is tell us, and we'll take you off the list. We will still visit your premises though, and we do this on behalf of your energy supplier because:
* suppliers have license conditions in place to ensure meters are visually inspected regularly
* suppliers want to make sure meters are being read correctly - believe it or not, there's some skill involved!
Often on the phone call we'll ask if there's a good time to call in to read your meters.
From time to time we'll call you by mistake. This is unfortunate, but it's an issue across the industry where telephone numbers held on meter files are incorrect. Please help us when this happens and tell us we've got the wrong number - we'll deal with it straight away.
Hope this helps. For more information our web address is www.lowribeck.co.uk, and our online meter reading site is www.myreading.net

- Stoat replies to TracyMy wife just got a call on her mobile from these clowns - and her phone number doesn't even appear on our account.
FAIL
She did have an account with npower before we lived together but that was closed a few years ago.
FAIL - StoatAs I'm currently casting about for new suppliers, I'm going to be asking who uses Lowri Beck.
Anyone who does, won't get my business. It's called Voting with your Wallet.- Caller: Lowri Beck

- GE replies to Tracy| 1 replyI am a NPower customer. I received a call on answerphone requesting a meter reading which gave the telephone number and the web address. I went on to the internet, as I was suspicious of the number, and it asked for a Job reference which supposedly appears on a card sent via the mail or through the door. I had received neither, nor any reference in the telephone message.
I am ignoring the request as It seems lowribeck are being scammed. - Tracy replies to GEHi GE,
You can still give your meter reading on line without your job reference number - you'll do it with your address then we'll match it up in our systems. If you'd prefer to wait until we catch you on the phone or our meter reader visit then that's OK.
If you'd prefer we didn't contact you by telephone you just have to tell us. We'll remove your number from our database if this is the case. But since the utility markets were deregulated in 1996 we've been reading and inspecting utility meters for a wide range of energy suppliers, and those readings have been used to help calculate your bills. It's not a popular place to be, but we take pride in what we do and we're sorry that you're doubting our integrity.
Best regards
Tracy - cherryblossomWell seeing as we have just received a call from these people and we give our meter readings on line through our suppliers website, I have contacted our supplier and also ofgem to confirm that these people are legitimate.
I flatly refuse to give my details to anyone over the phone who just cold calls me in the evening and doesn't leave a message.- Caller: Lowri Beck
- Watchdog KReceived a call today, the caller asked for a meter reading as acting for npower. This may be genuine, but your best option is to ask them to post the request to you in writing and include your account details in the letter. Not a good way to ask for this information, even if they are genuine!
- Caller: npower!
- cherryblossomWe aren't customers of NPower which is what makes me suspicious.
- only methey are so lazzy my gas meter is out side, and yet they wont me to go and read it, its not that easy to read, once they knock on the door to read it, l told them it was out side go a head he look at me oddly and said l was told it was indoors l just grined at him and shut the door, they have been reading the meter for the past 10 years and it still in the same place now has it was then. how about you pay us for doing your job no l did not think so bye.
- Caller: Npower gas
- p replies to DeepSeaDiverabsolutely, should be free! in fact they should pay me to do the job they are paid to do
- Bob42Asked if they could speak to me by name. I replied no.
Then checked the web and found this site. Very interesting as I recently moved to Npower from A N other supplier.- Caller: Didn't get that info.
- FatherHobbitDetails from another thread of what to do.
Anyone receiving these types of calls should complain to Ofcom immediately!

Everyone please report them to ICO on https://www.snapsurveys.com/swh/surveylogin.asp?k=134674895144
I recently bought a call blocker from www.truecall.co.uk its brilliant! they are about £99. I don't work for them and I think there might be other devices on the market. It now screens my calls and anyone (like these people) not on my friends list have to go through a screening process handled by the unit. So you can get one computer talking to another, mine always wins!
Hope this helps guys! - CeriRepeated calls from this number asking for Mrs Parker. Keep telling them no one of that name lives at my address. Then they wouldnt put the receiver down. Had to ask them 3 times, having already put the receiver down myself and pick up again to do 1471 they were still there!!
- Caller: Dont know didnt ask.
- Puzzled| 1 replyI've just got in from work and had one of these messages left on my answer phone which is fair enough but from reading through the comments by employees I am puzzled. You say it's most likely because someone from the company has twice unsuccessfully been able to read the meter. Do your company not leave cards to say you've tried? I've had no notification anyone has tried and my neighbour who always tells me if someone has been round hasn't said a word about anyone trying. We always get our meters read at the same time so this is a bit odd that's all.
- Caller: Lowri beck
- John Pace replies to PuzzledThis number is not recognised by British Gas..they called me on Saturday morning and they woke me up..but i didn't answer this number as i know it is fake and i didn't want to give them this pleasure..I have submitted my meter reading through British Gas website 3 days before this call..so these guys don't have any reason to call all the time.
- kathi received a letter of that company that there it is time for a new meter ....the strange thing is I asked to be connected with southern electric ,but npower will not let go of me everytime the switch was due another letter arrive of the previous tennants name and account ,to me there all scams ..
- Mark replies to RCCalls to 0845 are not premium rate, Check out

Also bt scraped charges to 0845 and 0870 but hey calling a mobile number can be more expensive - Mark Again| 2 repliesAfter reading loads of these comments everyone is assuming it's a scam or assuming they are getting private information or assuming they are getting usage data,
One thing I was taught by my parents is to never assume anything because it makes an ASS out of U and ME. Because its an 0845 number you all must assume it's a scam.
So I take it that all the good work the Samaritans do is a scam because their phone number starts 0845 the same goes for the Royal National Institute for the Blind and Deaf their numbers are 0845 and 0870 so assume they are scaming us also.
Get a grip people.- Caller: dodgy messages on this site
- Fran replies to Mark Again| 1 replyI received a missed call from this 0845 number (Lowri-Beck), but the voicemail "callback" number showed a different number 01942 760170.
Having switched from NPower to the Co-op just over a month ago, I was surprised when I got a message on my mobile from this number asking for a meter reading by calling them back and quoting name, house number and postcode, or going onto www.myreading.net.
As far as I can see, I am not due for a meter-reading yet and Co-Op text when a reading is needed, and only ask for meter readings to be put on their website.
Anyone who calls from an 0845 number, does not call me by my name and does not refer me to my exact utility provider is suspicious.
Must be a scam,
