just had a phone call answered by answer phone to give my meter readings as all the other complaints from back tp 2008. Todays date is 07/07/2017. they appear to have been doing the same thing for a long time, they have not changed procedure in all that time after all the complaints about being a scam and not giving energy suppliers names. I will go back to my supplier and give another reading, just gave one 10 days ago. WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE A PREMIUM RATE PHONE CALL. I BET WHEN THEY PHONED ME IT WASNT PREMIUM RATE AND WOULD BE A REDUCED RATE!!!!!!

Voice message left on my cell phone a few days ago, asking me to call that 08457 number with my elec. meter reading, or give my meter reading on www.myreading.net. That website then asks for lots of personal details. Probably a scam. I recommend caution.

I had a call from these guys asking for meter readings just checked my phone bill and I was charged for the call THEY made to ME something to do with it being an international number DON'T ANSWER

Me too, and I just supplied my readings at the beginning of the month.

But it's cold calling! And why ring me at work when I am nowhere near home!!!

Returned telephone call to 08457023461 (out when they called) advised that they wanted meter reading for Gas & Electricity, informed them that I provided them on line.  Called my provider who had no knowledge of why I was called for my readings, not due until next month.  Are returned calls to 08457023461 charged for and at what rate????  Do I understand correctly these are SCAM calls?

Had same thing happen to me this week, received automated message. So glad I applied caution & looked the website up first. Smart meters being fitted tomorrow & after reading some of the comments above I have ignored lowri beck requests to call 08457023461 & entered readings on my online account as per usual.  Thank u

I got a call from them for our business meter readings and they're not our gas or electricity supplier & never have been.... doesn't sound that clever to me....

Received a call asking for meter readings, but not naming my supplier.

I got a message on my answer phone yesterday asking me to phone the above-mentioned number and give my meter reading. I could do this by phone or via www.myreading.net. I did find it a bit strange but because I am changing my supplier at the moment I thought that it was for that. Anyway I gave my info and readings via the site and have now just come across this site and am terrified that I've been scammed! Any advice?

They are a smart meter installation/reading company just had them round to install a meter they are all above board and legit

I was out so received answer phone message from them wanting meter readings. Based on what I've read I suspect they are working for NPower but I left NPower a couple of months ago and I always entered my readings online including the final ones which have been confirmed by NPower. I feel their approach is totally unprofessional and well... basically rubbish. Here's what's wrong: 1) They did not say on whose behalf they were ringing. 2) Suggested using a 0845 number which can be up to 7p a minute. 3) Website collects personal information - admittedly perhaps not that revealing but bad practice as it encourages bad security among the public who on seeing a scam website like this might fill it in because they did in this circumstance and it was fine. 4) In posts made here they say they are collecting meter readings not for billing purposes but for other reasons. Well SORRY but I'm not interested in providing meter readings for fun. If this is legally required then state under what law and what will happen if I refuse. Otherwise either offer compensation or an incentive for the information or get lost. Hence I will ignore this call and if they ring again I will add them to my block list. Considering reports I've read they have been doing this in the same way since 2008 - you would think any reputable company would've realised that their procedures need adjustment. You would also think that the companies hiring them would know better by now too.

I got the same call so I took my meter readings & sent them to MY supplier     but I didn't phone that number back     dodgy!!

I got a call asking me to ring with my meter readings for N Power but I moved house and stopped using NPower over a year ago.   Surely if Lowri Beck were legit then they would know that.

I had a card through the door from them but they did name my supplier Engie Power, so not sure now whether to get in touch with them with the reading they asked for. Marilyn

Got no phone call they come out to fix my gas meter I misthink them I number I called them with was not mines but my a pals was no mines got no gas now can u help my number 07895250501  ta x

got a call today. As others have said I send readings direct to my energy supplier.  So what do they get out of this?  I will also complain to my supplier

I had a card pushed through my letterbox about a meter reading. I had only just moved to Engie so thought I'd better ring the number on the card with the reading. It was a 0845 number but they've always been treated as a local number on my all-inclusive mobile tariff. It was only when I got my bill later that I discovered that these buggers charged me £1.98 for a 3 minute and a half minute phone call!  That seems like a scam to me.
