Report a phone call from 08457023461 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- SusanI gave me readings on my meters a week before I got a call from this number asking for me to phone them or enter my readings on a Web site. They phoned at night, it went automatically into the answer machine. I'm not doing anything as I have no proof the call is from my supplier
- Caller: Laura Dix Services?
- Annoyed of SouthamptonThey say this is not a scam, and it may not be. But the point is it COULD be, along with the many other scam calls we all have to deal with these days. God help the vulnerable and old. If you have as I do a system where your supplier sends you a email asking you for a reading, and you have done that for years, you of course do not expect a phone call for you to supply your reading by a phone, especially if it starts by saying ' your supplier' . The whole thing is rotten, ill thought out, and a real pain. It has already wasted my time in writing this message and probably raised my blood pressure as well, let alone starting the evening off badly. Did them.

- David Miller| 1 replyThere's a lot of rubbish on this thread with people talking about this call being a scam. It isn't. The company is Lowrie Beck who read meters and also change meters for (amongst others, maybe?) NPower. They are changing our meters on Monday. Another number you can call them on is 0333 220 5421. Others on this thread talk about Lowrie Beck asking for meter readings: personally I regularly post readings on the NPower website so that my usage is up-to-date, but I guess if you don't give any readings for a while then NPower subcontract Lowrie Beck to get hold of the details. How anyone could consider this a scam beats me! If they ask you for your bank account details, it's a scam; if they ask for a meter reading, I can't see how that info could be of any use to a scammer!

- Gillian GoodingGot a voicemail left on my house phone
Asking me to call back and give my metre readings or go online to myreading.net
They didn't name my energy supplier- Caller: Lowrie Beck
- Phil WorkmanI have received many calls from these people over the last few years. They are entirely legit but the annoying thing is, I have never, ever had npower as my energy supplier in all the forty years I have lived here. I have repeatedly explained that they have got the wrong number but, sooner or later, I get another call! Now I know that if I call them back (I never answer my phone as 99% of the calls are scam merchants), it's going to cost me 34p, I'm not going to bother. They can waste their money if they like, but I'm not any more.

- pjjust had a call asking for my gas meter reading....said they were caling on behalf of my gas supplier but didnt say who..... we dont have a gas supply. . they also asked for my postcode. very sus. they also left an automated message on my voicemail.
- mrs crowleyreceived a message asking for meter readings and house number and post code
- Caller: not known
- MauriceJust a VM from them, usual drill, asking for my meter readings...... I supply my meter readings online to my energy provider, and did so just a week or so ago. Lowrie Beck might well be a bona-fide company, but the call makes no sense. My energy supplier has all my details and my current readings. Beware!
- Caller: Lowrie Beck
- TC replies to SOK, if it is a genuine company, and I'm switching, which company are they phoning on behalf of? The current supplier or the new supplier?
- Scott replies to Wheres the Scam?Scam
- Hickmanwe were asked to give a meter reading either to this number or online.
- Caller: www.myreading.net
- Mark BI suspect this is a scam for the following reasons:
1. Both my gas and electric meters were read about one month ago and my utility provider has updated my account accordingly,
2. I have a BT Call Catcher on my phone which offers the caller the opportunity to announce themselves. Theses callers do not use the option, nor do they leave a message.
Genuine callers ALWAYS use one of these options. - BevCall from Lowri Beck Services 'on behalf of Npower' wanting a meter reading. Told them I do it all online. Reply was that it's not for billing purposes, just to check that everything is working ok. I responded that I'm sure between myself & NPower, we would soon be aware if there was a problem and that as I'd had no notification from NPower regarding their request I would not supply them with any information.

- AshCall Wed @ 4.30pm, hung up as soon as I answered. After reading past reports, I'm glad that I never got to listen to their scam.
- Caller: Unknown scam
- rosemayI had one of these calls a long while ago. I did not give them a reading but afterwards heard someone on the radio saying that although they are not a scam they do charge much higher than necessary phone call costs. Can any of the employees of these companies, who have defended themselves, confirm or deny whether this is true or not?

- bowiewhistI see from the thread that this has been a source of concern since 2008 - nine years of Lowri Beck Services taking no heed of the fact that they need a new script to properly introduce themselves and some indication that they have been passed details by the energy company concerned and thereby already have the house details and account number. I've just been left a message and like others won't be calling back as I've specifically joined a supplier with links to my smart meter.
- Caller: not named
- M Searle replies to SHad the bloody cheek to call at 08:25 this morning saying doing survey about smart meters for Scottish Power who no doubt gave them our number. Not happy at that and told them so and not to call again. Been up for hours but at that time of the morning we think its a family emergency. Surely wait until after 9am?
- Dave in PooleI suspect this is Lowerick calling yet again to convert my property to smart meters. Didn't leave a message this time
- AEI accept that they are a legitimate company doing meter reading for a variety of suppliers, but what is not acceptable is a) their telephone manner and b) their pretence to be getting a cross-check on consumer-supplied readings... If I am bright enough to massage down the numbers I submit to my supplier on-line hasn't it occurred to anyone that I could do the same with the numbers I give them? It's fair enough to do physical meter reads periodically, but to take my numbers and pretend to have done them themselves is fraud. My statement clearly shows "Meter reader figure" or similar when I know full well that I reported the number to LB!
I also put the phone down on them once when they were demanding lots of private information "to update the system" and wasted about half an hour of my time with stuff that was none of their business... I suspected that they were compiling as much info as possible for selling on to other firms that might have had less than legal reasons for cross-referencing it.- Caller: Lowri Beck
