Bogus company who are NOT authorised to collect gas/electric meter readings on behalf of your energy company.

I have had a message on my machine from them today. As I had changed provider online I expected them to contact me in the same way. So I will take the advice as given on these pages and ignore them. Website gives no way of giving readings anyway.

I kept getting calls from this number and just clicked answer and left it. They did it for pretty much TWELVE days Mon-Sat solid. I rang a number provided by my energy supplier to arrange a smart meter installation, their letter said nothing about who would do it, no indication anyone would ring me.

The number then put me through to the people doing the installation, Lowri Beck. Perhaps the idiots had been ringing to try to arrange the meter installation, maybe this was a different part of the company that was badgering for meter readings, but we will find out if the calls stop.

I stand by my instincts (not to talk to them), even IF it was them trying to arrange meter installation I did not agree to being called, no indication was given they could or should call, they really shouldn't hassle people regardless of whether they are doing it for a (semi) valid reason. I think we should be able to report people ringing us, I could consider it harassment under some definitions (unwanted attention) and to do it daily is just wrong, regardless any box or whatever you may have left or ticked that gives them the impression of consent. As far as I'm concerned consent is I ask or state they can call me, no catches or clauses on forms or small print from contract, my life takes precedence over any of that and I reserve the right to refute any rights they may feel they are exercising by whatever means.

Lowri Beck are a genuine meter reading company, but I object to being told to call them on a premium rate number to give them my gas meter reading when my business has no gas supply.  Was this a genuine call on behalf of my non-existent utility company, or a cynical opportunity to make money out of my calling them to tell them we don't have a meter?

If you have a look at http://www.saynoto0870.com/companysearch.php  you will find a variety on "non Premium Rate" numbers for them.   From experience, they are not the sharpest tools in the box.

My meters are very hard to get to I give meter readings on line but you still come. I'm not one for [***] about you don't come to my door at any time you only do by appointment only plus I do charge for my time and have charged British Gas for doing so of which they had to pay court costs as well to recover the money. So they never contact me now as I send a bill every time they call me and give them 7 days to pay I never have a problem now. And when they come to the door I take there Id and leave them on the door step for over a hour they get the message

I had a call on 13/06/2016 left on my answer phone, to call 08457023461 with my meter readings. The email address was www.myreading.net They say they are a company called Lowry Beck, this is a genuine company, but do these callers actually work for them, or are they just trying to con you. After reading other peoples comments on this telephone number,  I rang my energy company. who said, they are aware of these callers, and have advised never to give out meter readings over the phone.  These are bogus callers.

I don't know why Lowri bothered to send someone to read the meter when I ring Co Opt  all the time to give them the meter readings. What they should have done, is  put their card to announce what provider they are reading from.as I don't like opening door  to complete stranger if I,m not expecting them. Instead after they left then they left their card saying they are from Co Op. .

    Scams

Yesterday I had a phone call from Lowry Beck asking me to ring a premium rate number in order to give them my meter reading numbers.

I may look like a cabbage but am certainly not green

They never mentioned the company who I am with, nor any mention that they had the companies permission to contact me.

We now live in an age of the scammer. As a result of this all unsolicited calls to my number are viewed with suspicion.

My energy company has never contacted me informing me that meter readings will now be taken by a third party company.

So if LB are a scam company what would they benefit from by ringing me.

    1. Profit from me ringing them probably trying to keep me on the phone as long as possible at premium rate.
    2. Details of my energy supplier and information that then can be sold on to other companies.
    3. email addresses and as above can be sold on or used to send further junk emails.

Come on Lowry prove me wrong!!!!!!

If Lowry Beck can have you tell them your meter reading it saves them sending their own meter reader along.   You gotta hand it to them.   The other thing to consider is that you gave your Supplier your contact number in case of an emergency.   Adding to Lowry Beck profits is an Emergency?    Report your Supplier and Lowry Beck to the Information Commissioner for misuse of your Data..

I got a call from these people and they said they wanted my meter readings. (Why? I return the readings after an email request from my company). I can only assume this call is one of those that is up to no good.)  I phoned my supplier who said straight away ignore it, and it  was probably a scam. The company was known to them. The reading is not due for 2 months anyway.

Two calls today (unanswered), from different numbers not known to me. Researched both, both from Lowri Beck. Spent some time on sites like this one, and came to the conclusion that they either want to fit smart meters or they want my meter readings. Phoned my energy supplier to verify that they are operating legitimately on behalf of my energy supplier, and was told to "ignore it, it's probably a scam" so that's what I'm going to do.

Let me give you a few facts
1 Lowri Beck are a legitimate company (data retrieval and meter fitting)
2 By law your meters need to be inspected every 2 years (to see if they are in good order)
3 How do the suppliers know you are putting in the correct readings online (either accidently or deliberately! )
4 You cannot make 100 appointments per day (thats why they just turn up)
5 The other reason they just turn up is if you are bypassing the meter (people still do it) they have the element of surprise
6 If you keep refusing access the energy suppliers do get suspiscious
7 The suppliers database can be out of date and sometimes they send out the request for a physical meter read at the same time they send the customer an email requesting a read hence why a reader knocks on your door a week after youve sent in a reading (lack of communication)
8 Lowri Beck work for approximately 10 different energy suppliers  (the energy suppliers call staff should know this but as there is a high turnover of staff in these centres (due to abusive callers) not all the people are informed)
9 THIS IS NOT A SCAM

Hope this clears up a few things

    Aproca
Last Friday upon my return from work I found  a card drop through my letterbox. It was from Lowri Beck Services saying they'd called but I was out and suggesting I phone 0845 702 3461 to report my gas & electric meter readings (in BOLD) or pass it through their website (in small print). There was Ref/Job  Number and the info they were acting on behalf on Co-op who is in fact my current supplier. I have been with Coop for three years now and I cannot remember Lowri Beck Services agent coming to my house to take meter reading earlier (mind you my mother-in-law lived with us at the time so she could give them access). Sounded genuine enough so I unwittingly rang them to give meter reading to find out later it cost over £3 !!!   DON'T DO IT.
If you willing to give the meter reading do ti through their website.
Since i switched to online tariff I'm obliged to give them readings regularly (which I do), so I'm about to ring Coop to find out if they really need to send the agent to have the readings through them. There have been nothing mention about carrying out any safety  checks so in my opinion  it just seems to be a low grade scam to get people to ring a 0845 number!

Had a card put through my door with this number on  and lowri beck logo. I called lowri beck on a different number and no one had called round yesterday. Also the card has a grammatical error on it so whoever printed it doesn't speak correct English.

This person called my home and left a message giving name and  the phone no above. She said she was phoning on behalf of my gas/elec supplier to and we had to phone with meter reading or log in to myreading.net to give it there. I gnored this as we regularly enter our own meter readings with the company that supplies us by arrangement. I have been at this property for 20 years and never had dealings with NPower, neither has anyone else here. My supplier would write to me to inform me of any change not just spring it on us in this manner. I shall report this phony call to Which campaign on nuisance callers and anywhere else that is relevant.
