It seems that o2 is the common thread. My daughter who has just gone to University switched from a pay as you go to contract with O2. 2 days later we got calls at home from the number 0845 351 0124, and she got them on her mobile. It was 'The Halifax' asking for her by name including her middle name, not normally used, wanting her date of birth amongst other things.

2 days later she is getting calls from 08458 630287 asking for similar details. We have reported to police, Trading standards and Ofcom. O2 of course say there is nothing they can do, but of course they can they can bar these numbers through out the service.

I answered the call from this number as they kept calling- The person claimed to be from O2 (and I too had just resigned my contract with them)

They said it was a courtesy call to check that everything was ok- didn't try to sell me anything but to be honest I didn't give them the chance!

Answered once by my girlfriend as I was busy and it is supposedly O2, well they say they are when you answer. They are apparently calling to see if there is anything they can do to improve your tariff conditions.

I keep getting calls from this number, i have just taken out an o2 contract... Imguessing its just a 3rd party trying to sell summin, like alwyas.. Thanks

This isn't a scam. I've found out that it seens to be a Genuine O2 Number.

I changed to O2 contract and received my phone on Saturday.  Have had 3 calls from that number today. Got annoyed, typed in the number on the internet and found this site - ace!!!  I'm going to go on the Telephone preference service website- see if it works on mobiles as I really don't need insurance!!!

3 missed calls, had an o2 contract for about 5 months. not answering. no thanks. dont care.

Few days ago I got new phone from mobiles.co.uk (part of carphone warehouse)
A caller from "phone medic" 08704214625 call me 2 hours after i activated my new number he told me that he call just to check is evertrhing ok with my new phone

And after that he asked me to comfirm my name, my address and my card details (under a false pretence that he was from the carphone warehouse - i had no reason to dont belive that is geniue phonecall as he know my brand new mobile number and my name)

Soon after i discovered that he debited almost £100 from my account at the point of sale after telling he needed me to comfirm my card number to cancel a direct debit for a more expensive policy that was accidently set up when i purchased my phone...

I reported the transaction to my bank as fraudulent, the bank have since reimbursed all my money.

THINK BEFORE YOU GIVE ANY DETAILS!!!!

And now I just had call from this number a few minutes ago, NO WAY THAT I WILL ANSWER

OMG somone just called me off this number 2, i answered and know one spoke and then it went dead!!! i just got a new 02 contract aswell and someone aslo tried to scam me by saying they were from 02 and asked 2 'confirm' my bank details and i had to get my bank card blocked so watch out!!!

i also get many calls off this and other numbers trying to sell me insurance. i contacted o2 and they gave me a number to call, it's 0800 500 212.they also a website to go to that delete your details from marketing groups it's www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

Im with o2 and my contract ends this month.Had 2 missed calls nd havent answered either of them cos ano thy jus want to persuade me to keep my contract ... which im not.

i have a new 02 phone, and answer the call from this number to hear nothing each time. formal complaint time

just found this website! cant believe it! i got my new contract SIM on wednesday and theyv rang me at least twice a day! ive missed it every time and i intend to do so! im not answering it!

I phoned the number back to find out who it was and to withdraw my number from whatever list they had...and an automated message states it was a 'courtesy call' from O2 to make sure all is well and if there was anything they could help with...well surely if we needed them we would ring them if there were any problems! As people have said they would probably try and flog phone insurance or something, I'm sick of it - got Homeserve pestering me just about every day as well! STOP BOTHERING ME...I'M NOT INTERESTED!!!

its not limited to new customers, as ive been with o2 for a yr and now have only just started getting the calls.

i work for a mobile company and get calls all the time about this number 08458630287 mobile companies never call to flog insurance as this is usually an out sorced company (is were i work) so this is something offered at point of sale only advisors like myself will never call a cust to offer anything!!

It's a courtesy call from 02 Customer Services - to check all settings are correct and if there are any queries with the and most importantly welcoming you to the network - No need to panic!!!
