I am on 02 and have just had a call from this number, didn't bother picking up. My contract with them is due to end in a few days so I'm guessing they are probably ringing to try and convince me to keep my contract and upgrade?!

This is the definitive answer. I got loads of these calls so i rang 02 and they confirmed it was 02 marketing list. Dont answer the call coz its just telesales, then just ring 02 and ask to be removed from the marketing list and they should stop. DONT EVER GIVE ANY DETAILS TO A STRANGE PHONE NUMBER EVEN THE FIRST LINE OF YOUR ADDRESS. This is not an actual scam but it might as well be coz they are only trying to sell you needless insurance. Treat every strange number as if it is a scam though coz you cant be too careful. Hope this helps and puts some minds at rest.

Unbelieveable.  They called me and said they were O2 and I had 'don't wish to receive marketing calls' marked on my account and wanted to know if this was still the case.  What a bunch of [***] - how do they get away with this?

This is a legit number, Yes its O2, but really annoying. They have been calling me for over a month now, at least once a day. On Saturdays too. I have answered twice, only to get silence, so I never answer now.

I just got the same but missed it. Typed the number to google and was directed here. Immediately called O2, who say they've made no attempt to contact me. I got a bit stroppy and asked them who they were passing on my number to. They suggested it was an automated calling thing which I snubbed by telling them that I was looking at 23 pages of a forum, all with the same problem, all O2 customers. He then stared to take it more seriously and is passing a formal complaint through. I mean I've been with them for 3 days! This is not what I want from my mobile company!

Just had call #2. I suggested it was unusual that O2 would call me and ask for my details when surely they knew who I wa because they were calling me. 'Sharon' got very agitated, said she was making notes in my account and that her team leader is 'Michelle Reed'. She suggested I call O2 and check. She then asked me to wait a few moments for her to enter the details and hung up on me.

You are infact actually very stupid, this is an o2 number, as its been confirmed on many occasions on this web site.

Yes, people have also had o2 teeling them its not, but i 100% guarentee you if you ask them to check again and more thoroughly then they will be able to confirm that it is o2 thats calling you.

I have just cancelled my O2 contract and now get 3/4 calls a day off this number. Only 28 more days left of it though!

Guys/Gals don't panic !

I have checked this number with O2 Customer Services and they confirm it is an O2 Welcome call and the number is valid.

You can request them to NOT call you by opting out of marketing from O2, either by logging into your O2 account or phoning O2 (or tell them not to call when you pick up the call from this number).

My general advise is to not provide ANY details to anyone phoning you unless you are sure who it is. I know someone who got conned from an alleged call about his bank about his account - so beware :-)

I am nearing the end of my contract, tomorrow its probably about renewal!!

This number has been calling me all week. Today I decided to answer it. As a complete coinsidence, I upgraded my o2 account yesterday. I've been with o2 for years and they've never called me like this. This definently isn't o2!! If it was, they would have known I'd just upgraded my phone and they didn't have this info. Thankfully I didn't give them any info and reported it to o2.
