For gods sake, how dumb are some people, on page 23 there is a link to the O2 WEBSITE !!!!!! which confirms that this is o2, how much more proof do you people need.

I cant beleive how thick some of you are, it is untrue.

This is ridiculous!  I've been with o2 for years now and only just started getting this number call me but its not once its almost ten, yes TEN times a day, and when I answer it cuts off every time!!! How do you block a number??  Its doing my head in, ARGH!!!

Oh and who ever you are saying that we are so thick it is untrue - where do you get off saying that?!  Does this number ring you endless times everyday?  To be honest I dont really care if it is O2 - WHY DO THEY HANG UP EVERY TIME?? hmmmm

i have had a contract wit o2 for some 11 months now and i get phone calls off this number but i never answer it. i dont answer a number unless i know it. it is really doing my head in. i have ended up putting my phone on silent because they ring me at least 10 times a day anyone know who it is?

I answered the call and the women knew my name and said she wanted to discuss if I was on the best tariff. She then asked me for my security word. I refused as she called me and at the time I didn't know it was really O2. She understood and said I was being removed from the calling list.

I think it's terrible that they call you and expect you to give out your details. Especially when we are told all the time not to give personal details out to unsolicited callers. It could have been anyone, on their website (see above) they give a lame way to prove their identity. This is a quote from their site. "You can tell it's us because the number shown on your phone will be 0845 863 0287. If you call us back on this number there is a recorded message to give you confidence it is O2." Anyone can make a recording saying they are O2. Oh well that's my rant over. Don't fret it is O2 even if they are idiots.

ive not even had my contract a week, and got a phone call from this number today. when ive looked for what number it is ive found other people have the same problem.

It isnt o2 calling, its an insurance company selling insurance. they told me they were o2 associates, i was stupid enough to believe them as i was considering getting insurance for my new phone. do not listen to them! they are not associated with o2 as i rang o2 and ask them myself. i received the details from the comapany saying what i was insured for...and it was basically nothing. i asked them to cancel the contract but they refused. so i had to take matters in to my own hands. i told them i would take them to court if they didnt do as i requested, and i also blocked them from my bank account.
i would strongly recommend blocking this number on your phone as its a pest and they are really just a scam.
i hope you all listen to my advice and dont fall for them as i foolishly did

i just got a call from this number so checked it on here. Only thing is i HAVENT just started a new o2 contract...

Well I emailed customer support and got the following reply

This number 08458630287 rings me every day at the same time 11am, its from o2 because my contract has expired. I spoke to someone last week from this number regarding my contract I told them to ring back next week what a mistake they ring me every day. What do they think you don't work I am a nurse and can not answer my mobile at work. They are driving me nuts

yes it is o2 calling you,not a scam,  either to welcome you to the network or to check to see if they can save you money or to let you know your up-grade date is due....they use the same n0 on all the out-bound call as it goes throu a single system for all the campains...yes they do try to sell insurance but then they are cheeper than cwp and pfu......all in all take the call.

I started my new o2 contract about a week ago and have been getting up to 6/7 calls a day from this number, never answer it, i went in to 02 and asked them about the number and they said it was not one of there numbers and to block the number as its a scam and the people on the other end are trying to get peoples pass codes ect so my advice is just block the number

It says on the website that is a genuine O2 number and the answer machine message is to prove that it is actually O2.
Though still not sure if i will pick it up :S
may just block it somehow.

hhmmmm ive just had a call from that number but im not with O2! However I did take out a new contract with vodafone this week........

The man I spoke to said that he was from o2, I said how come when I typed it into the internet it says you are not from o2, he said I am from o2, I said I'll call back then hung up.

Just has a call from this number, I have recently renewed my O2 contract. i can remember getting a similar call when i started the contract 18month ago, their after bank details eventually, definatly a scam as I pay O2 by Direct Debit.

I've had to missed calls from this number, i haven't renewed my cotract, but have just signed up for o2 broadband. I've looked up the number on the internet but just find that it's not o2.

You don't have to block this number. Just pick up and politely say the the magic words "take me off your calling list". They will stop calling.
