Dont answer it, you have to pay. i ended up having a bill of a small amount just because i answered it. Its just a survey about the contract etc..no point answering it if you have to pay

It is O2 marketing. I received a phone call from this number. After the conversation I called O2 to verify if the phone call was initiated by them. They confirmed. What you have to do is to ask O2 to remove you from their Marketing DB. And no calls no more!

calls from 08458630287 are from i think a company called opal telecom to welcom new o2 callers to the service. you need to call o2 to stop marketing using your number.

Got a new O2 contract this week, got 4 or 5 calls a day until I answered one today. First time I answered a woman started talking about insurance, I told her to remove me from their lists and she hung up on me.

Then another call, again I answered and this time I asked him questions about what he knew about me. He knew quite a lot, but all this tells me is that whoever is selling him the phone number sold him other details with it.

It *might* be O2 I suppose, but I smelt a rat. Why would a large company deliberately aggravate new customers like this?

I've just started a contract with O2 and also had a missed call from this number on day 1.  They called again today so I answered.
A woman with an African accent said it was a "Welcome call from O2" to tell me all the benefits as I had just joined. She then asked me to confirm my logon details (password etc), but when I asked her to prove her identity, she said I could Google the number, then hung up!
O2 or not, I don't give personal details to anyone I don't know, especially if I didn't initiate the call!

Just had a phone call from this number. It was 02 just confirming my account details and informing me of my contract. They asked if I wanted a bolt-on, I said no and they left me alone. I'm a SIM only deal which is probably why Insurance wasn't mentioned.

I googled this number, as I have had aslmost constant calls from it since I got my new O2 contract.  I tend not to pick up numbers like this because I've had problems with cold calling in the past.  Glad to know it's not just me!  Thanks for the advice- I'll be blocking it now.

I had 3 missed calls and i answered the fourth, they asked me to confirm my password, no chance, most likely - a scam.

i have just had a new o2 contract as well with the same hassle, the last time i code an o2 contract from o2 it happened, i got so pee'd off with it i foned o2 to complain, they told me ALL o2 numbers are 0870 not 0845 and they were aware of the scam. the next time the 0845 number called, i answered and let them do their peace which they wanted to check all my bank details, at this point i informed them i had contacted o2 and they told me the police were onto them. never got a call from them again, looks like im going to have to do the same thing again.

as above with the password thing, o2 told me to ask them the prompt question as i had forgot it , and they wouldnt know what it was, funny that aint it . if they were o2 surely they would know what my password prompt was. tell them the police are tracking them down.

Yep, same as everyone else: started an O2 contract this week and whaddya know - I get a missed call from this 0845... number. They must have some kind of device tracking new O2 customers or something...

Another one to add to my "DO NOT ANSWER" list. Freaks...
