Actually a really helpful number, yes it was O2 trying to sell insurance but after saying i didn't want it she was fine, they also set me up with a new bolt on that i wanted and couldn't do online.
It is basically the O2 helpdesk so you don't need to block the number.

Just signed a contract with 02 and now this number is calling me on a regular basis - it's very annoying and shouldn't be allowed.

This is o2 calling you, I missed there call 3 times and thought it was a scam call BUT it was just a welcome call from o2 as ive just changed over to them, don't call them just wait utill they call back!!!!

Since advising O2 that I am leaving them as I have a new contract I have been called at least twice a day by this number, I don't answer because I know the hassle it causes, it is really starting to bug me now.

This annoying number keeps ringing me 4-5 times a day!!!!! i just reject it everytime!!! STOP RINGING!! 08458630287 - annoying number!

You can tell it is us as the number displayed on your phone will be 0845 863 0287. If you call us back on this number there is a recorded announcement to give you confidence it is O2.

Got rang twice by this number today each time i anwsered there was no one on the other end :/
This is on my new phone which i got on Wednesday from O2 and haven't even given the number to friends yet so i'm assuming its them, just wish they'd talk to me when i answer :)

Hey everyone beware!
    If you have just recently taken a contract from O2 via the carphone warehouse you will recieve a phone call from a fraudulant company.  The company who tried to get me was called Ebell uk ltd. If you search through google you will find page after page of people who have been conned.    
They claim to be from 02 and call to try and beat you insurance and confirm details.

some people's details have already fallen into the wrong hands so if they do call you,  make sure you give NO details and if they already have any details from your card  CANCELL that card immediatley.

Do not pass any info to them, but try and get a telephone number from them.

Please pass their number and any details you have retrieved to 02, carphone warehouse and or geek squad  if you have insurance with them.

Lets Get these scamming B*&(*RDS!

If this number is 02 just tell them you are not prepared to give your details over the phone and ask them to send an info pack to your home address which they should already have if they are who they say they are.

As has already been said, this IS O2 welcoming you to the network, I have been a PAYG customer for years, then needed to upgrade to the simplicity tariff due to buying a Blackberry handset.
If when you answer and there is no-one there then ALL instances of this practice need to be reported to OfCom, as under sections 128 to 131 of the communications act, they are liable to a fine of up to 2Million £'s.

I got a call from this number but i missed the call

i took out a simplisity thing on O2   from O2 and within a few days this number calls me..

something is fishy here. How could they know unless this number is within O2...

I've had 5 miss calls off this number today. My number hasnt even been transfered over to O2 until tomorrow. Very annoying really. Must say am very impressed by this website all i did was google the number.

I have just taken a call from this number.  It was someone from o2.  I have just taken out a contract with them.  Obviously it was sales led but he was informing me of useful contact numbers and services I could subscribe additionally too.  He wasn't pushy and didn't offer to sell me any insurance for my new phone.  No need to block the number as far as I'm concerned although if they call regularly I will do so.

Received a call to my mobile from this number today, which is amazing given my mobile number is only 3 days old....................tut

WTF!!!! Sick of this, report it to Ofcom. . .

It's O2 trying to sell insurance for your new phone. They'll call regardless if you have insurance or not. They are persistent, and will call for several weeks if they don't get an answer.

Started on o2 contract last saturday for iPhone. Have been getting calls from this number about 4 times a day. I answered the first time, and a guy said his name was Scott calling from o2. He asked the details of my contract, then started mentioning something about passwords and usernames, so I hung up straight away. If it really was o2 and it was important, I'd have had an email or post right? Seems like a scam!
