My husband just got a call last night after 5:00PM, which is strange that an attorney would call after 5PM.  I have worked for several l;aw firms and we would never call after 5.  This person was asking for my husband's ex-wife, whom he was married to almost 8 years ago in another state.  They claimed they were calling from an attorney's office and that's  the number showing on the caller ID 215-642-3400 Atty T. Landis.  Number traced to a Donald Burak in Bensalem, PA.  What's going on?  This person they were calling for is listed in the white pages all they had to do was enter her name and the state she has lived in for most of her life.  She is also non-garnishable because she lives on disability.  If they were truly a collection agency law firm they would know this and drop the pursuit to collect because they would have the financial documents she filled out upon requesting a loan.  Very strange!

Somecalled my cell from this number, I do not have a voicemail so no message was left.  Am on the "Do Not Call" system, so how are these people getting phone numbers that are on this "Do Not Call" list.

received a call from law office of Tom Landis and said they were looking for a certain person who was a relative of mine. I said I had not a releative by this name and they then said it was a person who had given me as a contact person and they asked it I could get a message to them. Their address was quite a distance from mine but I said I would try to locate them. They gave me a number for the person to call and account #. I went down the road and there is not such address. I really don't know the person they were looking for and don't know how they got my name and phone#. Deceided to check them out on the internate and found all kinds of bad stuff about them.

I received a call from this number today.....asking me for my routing number and checking account number with my bank in the U.S.  When I asked who he was he got angry and demanded I give him my banking information.

This guy asked for me by name at work.....demanded in a frightening tone that I give him my U.S. bank routing number so he can withdraw a debt unknown to me...I asked him not to call again and he kept calling and yelling at our receptionist.  She told him not to call again...he kept calling yelling at her.  Very scary......I feel bad for the people that he stole from...he needs to be stopped....especially needs to be kept away from the elderly that may not know better that he's a scam artist.

I am SICK and TIRED of them calling me!!!!  They claim i owe a debt of $11,000 to a creditor.  I've had a debt consolidation since January of 2006 and don't see how I could owe my creditor.  Payment that was being withdrawled from my account has stopped since June of 2009 and shortley after is when the calls started.  I figure if I owe a creditor that THEY would be the one to be contacting me, NOT someone like Steven Landis office who is RUDE and NON professional on the phone!!!  What can I do to stop them???  My nerves are SHOT!!!!!!

I never owned a fleet bank card, my ex wife possibly had one and I was possibly an authorized user, but I have neber saw this card or I had never used, this lawyer is chasing me for  over 8,000 dollars for someone that is a tourist in the usa without a ss security number is ver oddm I keep sending themm letter to saend me documents but they are ignoringmy request.

This office called looking for my son who is in Iraq - insisted it was a very serious civil legal matter not a collection call.

I got a call from this "company" regarding my neighbor.  They asked if this is the 'blank' residence, and the pronounced my last name correctly which not everyone can do, and I said yes.  The asked my neighbor, and did not correctly pronounce his name, which is easy.  Seemed kinda fishy and I thought about calling my neighbor to see if he knows anything about the so called attorney, but I decided to check on-line first and I'm glad I did.

My husband received a letter regarding a debt owed from The Law Office Thomas Landis.  When he was later contacted by phone the person seemed nice and the debt legitemate.  My husband mistakenly agreed to a settlement and gave them my checking account information.  All seemed good until a company called APM Financial took the money from our account.  We are not rich people and when we discovered they took an extra $100 more than what my husband had agreed it completely messed up my account.  He immediately called when we discovered what happened and the person we spoke to advised us to fax a copy of the statement showing what was taken out.  He agreed that that it was a mistake and that the money would be put back in.  That was three months ago.  Botn my husband I have been calling repeatedly and getting brushed off by every person we speak to.  The last time I called they claimed the account was closed and they no longer had the information.  I spoken to, Lawrence Lee Walker, a so-called manager and very rude, Renee Quinn the account person and countless others.  It no longer about the money but the principle.  They are scamming people and stealing and it needs to be stopped.  When I have asked for the so-called attorney's lic #number, these peole get rude and abusive. In the end we won't see that money back but if they are doing this to other people, which I'm positive they are then they have a darn good money-scam and are out and out theives. PLEASE BE ADVISED! DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOU ACCOUNT INFORMATION!!!

It's a shame what this company does.  LET ME TELL YOU WHAT TO DO!!!!!
Don't pay them.  They have purchased your debt for maybe 2-5 cents on the dollar from another company that has already charged off the amount you owe and will claim that amount as a deduction on their taxes.  So don't feel guilty or that you owe ANYTHING to this law office.  They will NOT file any court documents to sue you.  It would cost them far too much to litigate the case with no promise of payment.  
Wait SEVEN years and this debt will be taken off your credit record.  DISCLAIMER:  If you initiate any contact with a collection agent or pay a partial amount to keep them off your back, THE SEVEN YEAR CLOCK STARTS AGAIN AT ZERO.
The first time any collection agent calls you, tell them you request they not call ever again and follow it up with a certifed letter.  They may continue to write but just ignore it.

I have been getting these calls now too and they are very suspicious. At first the guy asked for Virginia Woodall and then called back a few days later asking to speak to her again. When I said I already told him I didn't know her then he asked to speak to my husband. He called him by name and had his last 4 numbers of his social security. He put me on hold and never came back to the phone. Meanwhile, I found all these negative posts about "Attorney Tom Landis" office. I called them back and threatened them that if anything happened to my bank accounts they would be the first blamed and they hung up on me - of course after not being able to find my "file".

I am glad I looked at this site. We recieved a call from "THE ATTORNEY" they said we owed $11000.00 for a loan. I then called back and the guy said he had all my lifes history in front of him and that we were just scum not willing to pay on a dept He said we were the reason the country is the way it is. So I called back he said this conversation is being recorded and that we need to pay him now.I said unfortunatly myself and wife were unemployed and had no money. He asked how we live and how we pay our bills I told him it was none of his buisness he said see ya in court. I called back that was a waste of my time. Sure wish I could meet this guy I would like to talk to him. So take it for what its worth dont pay and report them to the State Attornys Office and the Better Buisness Bureau in your area My word is WATCH OUT.

Got a call today from Attny Landis.  Thank goodness did a Google search and read this tread.  

Yesterday, I got a call from another company (I checked caller ID and it wasn't an 800 number so I answered it).  The guy said he could lower my credit card payments.  I asked if he was calling from a consumer credit agency and he said no.  He wanted my credit card information.  I told him I was on my way out the door and could I get his number to call him back.  He hung up.

Here's the interesting part - the background noise sounded like a legitimate call center.  This is how crafty this scam artists are now.

I am currently dealing with the people from the law office of thomas landis for a debt. this law office attemps to collect debts for a collection agency named cavalry portfolio sevices. my aledged debt was originally with lender named americredit. i had them fax me a copy of all the info on the debt to include the original creditor and original acct #, addresses and phone #. they did so without any real trouble other than not taking a hint that i wasn't going to give them any info on me that they didnt already have. he politely kept asking questions and i politely kept reminding him that since he works for an attorney he should know that it would not be wise for me to give any info without going through my attorney. he finally gave in. through out the conversation i remained very polite and respectful yet firm in my intent.

My husband recieved a call today (2156423400 displayed on a caller ID). The lady introduced herself as Maria Coltpeper (i maybe misspelling her last name) and said that she is looking for me and asked for my phone number. When my husband asked her why did she call him, Maria said that his phone number was provided as a contact number on a file - why would it? and that she will not release any other information because it's a personal matter between myself and my husband - ???? She provided a number to call (800) 355-1273 ext.154 which I did. Maria asked me for the reference number claiming that she provided it to my husband (which she did not) - Maria could not locate the file (even though she called my husband few minutes ago) and asked my for MY PHONE number and last name - THIS IS A SCAM!!!! Our famile is in good standing, we live in NY - why would we deal with someone oin PA? I called 800-number later and a man who answered the phone and listened to my story, wished me a good day - GRET BUSINESS! Spread the word about them!!!!
