- SkepticPeople read all these pages of letters and comments on this Thomas Landis.
Let them send you a letter. Do not give any personal information to these people. They are not trustworthy. Be aware be very aware. - ted from accountingI talked to that Eugene guy (I'm sure he gives a different last name every time he talks to someone) on behalf of a friend of mine as his attorney. He started to try to bully me, but I shut him up pretty quick. Probably helps that I have 50 or so IQ points on this imbecile. I talked him in circles and he never got a call back--nor did my friend. The "firm" ended up just handing the so-called debt over to some other company. What a joke.
- KJI recvived a hang up phone call on my answering service from this number on 1/20/2009 at 5:00 PM Pacific time.Mr Donald Burak is no longer at this number as He is spending 20 in proson for child pornography. It is now Thomas Landis. This is a debt collection servicve.May I remind them that I am on the DoNot Call List and in the state of Nevada under 201.255 harrassing phone numbers and or obscene calls face federal charges and hefty fines as well as imprisonment. The phone company gave me a number to call to stop these calls, so I did report them. The nuber is good for residential as well as work numbers

These people are scam this debt that they claim he might owe was from 1993!!!!!!!! Which would NO longer be on his credit report when i called them back and told them to stop calling me and that i found this website (there are more webistes about Thomas Landis) when i told him i had found this site he laughed and go impatient and pissed and this website did not pertain to their law firm but yet had the same address and phone number these people are nothing but FRAUDS! - BonnieI have these people calling me now, John Billup at 800-853-400 Ext 159. I'm thinking of changing of my number but wondering how these people got my information in the first place. They had my maiden name and my middle name. Has anyone been able to get rid of them?
- Office ManagerReceived a call from this number asking for a Cindy Lewis, then Cindy McClellan. I said no one by that name works for this company. He insisted, asking for the HR office. As he kept insisting, I kept saying there was no one here by that name, and never was. He told me to stop raising my voice to him as he was yelling at me. He wanted my name,He said his name was Paul Kamen and he works for attorney Tom Landis - and then he said he would call our corporate HQ. I let him know this was HQ. He hung up.
- sheila wadeReceived a call from these people, stated his name was Steven Moore, a law clerk at the Thomas Landis Law Office wanting to speak to my cousin. Not knowing who they were, took all the information and asked what is was pertaining-he stated it was a "federal" matter!!!
He gave me a 1-800-853-4000 and his private ext#177.
Out of curiosity, searched google and found you. Is this a scam and to be avoided??
Thanks- Caller: unknown name
- michelleMany of you should be ashamed of yourselves for blaming everyone from the bank, the collection agencies, and federal law for making you pay back monies legitimately owed !!! If you enter into a binding contract (i.e. card holder agreement) then you must repay what you owe.
The attorney's office doesn't buy debt, it is contracted to collect the debt. Furthermore, what a debt buyer pays for the account has no bearing on what is owed per the contract.
When an attorney's office functions as a debt collector, it simply means they have additional means of recourse to persue a debtor.... the ability to file a judgment to secure the debt if neccessary. When collection efforts made by an agency are unsuccessful, often the next step will be to retain an attorney's office to collect the debt.
It seems that questioning the legitimacy of the entity collecting the debt is merely a stall tactic and an unjustified excuse for not paying what is owed.- Caller: thoms landis
- TedIt also seems that trying to intimidate people over the phone is merely an unjustified excuse to collect monies which are past the statute of limitations or "uncollectable". ie: they cannot legally sue (which is why these collection agencies threaten to sue but never actually do, which is illegal).
To the debtors who LEGALLY owe a debt, I say pay it.
To the collectors who call people 20 times a day just to be annoying, I say put up or shut up (and good luck).
Also, "questioning the legitimacy of the entity collecting" is exactly what everyone should be doing. There are phone scams everywhere now, even at the fax machine at work. I might as well start taking candy from strangers. - Angry Personjanuary 27, 2009 Renee Quinn called, as she put it, "long distance" from Bensalem, Pennsylvania, left a reference number and everything........I think not! She didn't know how long distance she called........i live in Europe.

- Office ManagerMichelle - do you work for them?
The person they asked for never worked at my office and I was told I was lying when I said that. The person who called was rude, loud, yelled at me and told me he would report me to my boss at headquarters. I work at headquarters and know all the employees - past and present - as the company is not that big.
I don't mind a legitimate call, but this was anything but. I reported them to the Connecticut Department of Banking. - so cold in the Dmichelle sounds like one of the morons who works for this slophouse outfit. this is NOT a law firm calling people. there is a guy named landis who is an attorney in PA, but the people calling you poor souls are not "legal assistants"--they are mouthbreathing telemarketers who are probably not even in the same building as landis. they just use the name of his firm. no attorney has looked at your debt/file, and i am willing to bet they can't back up a single debt they own.
moreover, unless you live in PA, this clown couldn't file suit against you anyway, unless he is barred in other states as well.
scum. scum. scum. - SarahI received a call at home this afternoon regarding a debt owed by a guy I divorced 7 years ago! Funny thing is - we lived in another state at the time. I moved, was remarried six years ago, and took my new husband's last name. How in the world they managed to track me down as a contact is scary. I told them I don't know him, and hung up. Hopefully they won't call back.
- frustrated in WII haven't received calls yets. Or if I have I haven't answered them because I don't answer calls of numbers I don't recgonize. I received letter dated 1/17/09. This letter just showed up on 1/28 though. This cuts quite a few days of the 30 day validation dispute time period.
This debt is from I think 2002 which in my state of WI is past statute of limitations for collections. I will be writing a letter to the state of WI to have investigation logged and will be pulling a credit bureau to see what is on my file yet.
I do work for a collection agency but we collect on legit debts and if they are not we close those accounts from our office. Chasing dead money is not worth anyone's time or effort. Only puruse what is legit debt. - aggrivated wifeWe have been receiving theese calls from 215-642-3400 for over two years now. My husband has been in and out of work and the hospital. When this first happened I explained to the fist person that I would make a payment of $200. dollars on a $2500.00 bill. The Gentleman (I am using the word loosly) quickly asked me for a $500.00 payment instead. I explained that I was the ONLY income and my husband was out of work. He aquired the debt through a bogus computer course that he should not have taken then went into the hospital. He was not 'able to handle' the course. The so-called-lawyer "shyster" said to me well, your his wife the debt is yours, I will take the $200.00 today. can you give me more on Friday? This I was after I told him I was the SOLE income....He was not happy with this amount. Each time they call...we tell them what we can afford, they say NO, we want THIS AMOUNT!
Now, my husband is back..he started a new job... he became injured at work and the calls started every 4 minutes (NOT EXACTURATING) 8:26am and 8:30am by two different 'lawyers' at the firm 215-642-3400 I put on on the blocked call list.
Let's see if it will work. Changing cellphone numbers for husband as well....I am FED UP with this so-called FIRM! glad my husband interrupted me this morning! - BustedMy story is the same as most of the above. I did not return Tom Landis Law Office "required" call.

- LorieI got a call from Al Wakefield from Tom Landis' office. He left the 800 number to call him back. I was just wondering about a comment made by "Pissed Off" on January 21: How do you know they have our socials? That is really scary. Please write back.
- Caller: Atty T Landis
- RocioI recommend all ya no to answer or listen to these looser. They tried to scare me as well by telling me that if I didn't pay I was going to be sorry. That they were going to send a court order. I did however managed to pay part of my debt I payed almost 1500 dollars. After reading all of these comments I stopped making payments. I only needed to pay 800 dollars and I was done, but this so called layer was always very rude, and didn't care if I was dying as long as I paid that debt. He got real mad when I told him I wouldn't make any more payments. Its almost a year since he said I was going to get a letter in the mail saying that I will get a court order. I still waiting for that so called court order lol. I feel like calling on a blocked number and just tell Johnny Bilop to go to hell lol.
