This is a legitimate phone call.  I called Chase's 800 number on the back of my card rather than the number the caller left, and Chase verified that it was a real call.  They wanted to make sure some recent charges were made legitimately by me.

This was a legit call! I am always suspicious of phone numbers I do not recognize. I got a call from this number but was away from my phone. They left a message stating they were calling from Chase Fraud Dept., and told me to call an 800 number. I chose to call the number on the back of my credit card instead. As it turned out, there were several unauthorized charges to my card. Chase had already locked my account, then they promptly closed it. They are opening a new account and sending me another card. This happened to me a few years ago, except the multiple charges of small amounts were not caught for several months, so they added up to a substantial amount. I am grateful they caught it quickly this time. The moral is: always be very cautious, but do not hesitate to contact them using the number on the back of the card. They may end up saving you a lot of money!

I received a call from that number today regarding my recent chase credit card application. In the beginning I answered some questions but as they started asking me for more sensitive info, I said I am not comfortable giving that info over the phone. They were very polite and said I can just wait for the letter from Chase and return the info by mail.

Since I was still worried I called Chase and after speaking with 3 departments I found out the number is legit and they REALLY tried to call me half hour ago... I am glad it is not a scam, although it was very suspicious call.

As many others said - legit or not... never give you SSN or other sensitive info to an incoming call. Just call the number at the back of the card...

I applied for a Chase Freedom CC this morning and recieved a call this afternoon at 4:30 from this number.  Like an idiot I answered their questions about previous residences, since I had just moved to my current one that I listed on the application.  They asked multiple choice questions about the state where my SSN was issued, year I graduated HS, and another that I cant remember.  It was a lady with a soft indian accent, i think.

Anyway I was real worried that i just got worked over by a smooth talking indian lady, so i followed up with a Chase 800 number that I found on their website.  (1.800.436.7927) The first lady that i spoke with said that I was approved (pretty damn fast, I'm pumped) for the credit card but couldn't confirm the number that called earlier. So I called the 800 number again and got transfered to the application fraud deptartment.  I told the man the questions that they asked me and he, indeed, confirmed that it was a legit call.  He explained that just like the consumers (us) want to make sure we are actually talking to Chase, they wasnt to be sure that it's not some fraud company or individual applying for the card.

Bottom Line, follow up yourself, the Chase people are nice and willing to help.  Give them a call to verify.  And don't be afraid of asking for verification before you start answering questions.  That's always the safe way to do it!

This is definitely fraudulent.  I just financed my car through Chase and received a call from this number on my home phone number.  I am an attorney and they said they were calling about one of my clients.  It wasn't a real client name, however.  The thing is, my home phone number i not listed anywhere in association with my name.  I live with my boyfriend and the phone is in his name.  The only place this could have been gotten from was my Chase application.  I am guessing someone inside the company is doing the phishing.

224-222-5000 This number is legitimate.  If you get a call from them, look at your Chase card and call the number on the back.  They will look up your account and tell you what charges they want to ask about to see if they are yours.

it was Chase Fraud !!...I called the number on my card...and got things settled....FYI never give info to anyone that calls you..call back at a number from your cards or statements and try to use a different phone if possible ...as I've heard some criminals are calling trying to get your info by "tapping" into your conversation that follows their call......but this call was legit!!

Anyone can fake a call ID number with any technical knowledge.

So If you ever get this kind of call again.....call the number on the back of your card ONLY.  They will ask for things like THE LAST FOUR of your CC, You mothers maiden name.  You are safe because you called a number you know and they will transfer you to fraud protection.

This is from Chse. I got a call from this number today. Because it is not 800 number on the back of credit card, I checked on line and found this website. It is not a junk call. They are trying to protect your credit card account. I called 800 number to verify if they called me from 224-222-5000, they said they did. Thanks Chase!

This is a legitimate call from Chase. I applied for a card online. I have fraud protection on my credit reports so they were obligated to confirm some information. Never asked for my social security number, only other easily obtainable information.

I was skeptical at first, but they ended up closing my account due to fraudulent activity. They were able to give me information regarding my last few purchases and card number. The automated message cut-off after being transferred. So I called again so they can send a card to my mother at another address and they asked a few security questions including social security number. I looked up the number here and it seems legitimate.

This is Chase Fraud department's number. If you're unsure, call the 1-800 number on the back of the card. I did and the card account was closed so all the previous actions done on the other number I called were legitimate.

When I called, it was odd to have an automated message that asked if you want your number removed from telemarketing services. So this might be the same number they use for telemarketing.

This number may be a legitimate number, but folks need to realize that you can not trust caller ID. A person can use an IP based phone and create a caller ID number to match any legitimate number out there. The argument here is not whether or not the call is legitimate as I believe so of these calls are from Chase and some are from people pretending to be Chase.

Call the number on your card. Period. If any business that YOU did not call directly with a known good number, do NOT give out your ifull SS#. The caller ID is not to be trusted.

    DONT CALL THEM BACK
Do Not Give Them Your Information. Call Your Bank.

I Googled this phone number and got this website. So I called the number on the back of my Chase card, and asked to be transfered to the Chase Fraud department. They said there were no notes on my account and they read off recent purchased made on my card, they were indeed mine. I was also monitoring my Bank account just to be sure after I googled this phone number and there was nothing usual. I gave them this phone number and they said its not one of theirs. No Fraud, nothing. Why are they calling me then?

Call was from Chase Fraud Dept letting me know that someone had called Chase and tried to change some information on my account. They are closing my account and sending me a new card with a different number.
They asked me to put a password on my new account, and when I was hesitant to give it on the phone, they told me to call the number on the back of my card instead and ask for the fraud dept. Seems legit.

I had two calls from this number, two minutes apart. They left a voicemail the second time and asked me to call 800-278-8830 and gave a reference number. I had applied for a Chase credit card earlier in the day, and they wanted to verify some info. Birth date, name, age, home phone. I believe it was legitimate.
