Same call, they left vm saying to call back a 1-866 #. I called the number on the back of my Chase card instead and I was transfered to the fraud dept. They did want to verify the last 4 of my SSN and DOB but I felt comfortable doing so since I called the number on the back of my card. The fraud dept just wanted to verify some fraud charges that had previously been reported to them and the acct closed.

This is not a legitimate number.  I just got a call from the VP of Security.  This is an ongoing phishing scam.

If in doubt call only the number on the back of your card.

This is a legitimate number ... called the number on the back of my vtrfoy card and they patched me through to the fraud department and sure enough, was soon talking to the same gal who left the message from this odd number (and she verified it as well, after I asked her).  So, it is 100% Chase.  They were following up on bogus charges to my card from a few months back.  She did not ask me for my SS# but did have all the necessary information about the dispute.  It is Chase people, I guarantee it.

YES!!!!!.....THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!.....I called the number back and the automated message said that it was Chase USA not JPMorgan Chase. They asked me for the last 4 digits of my SSN and I hung up, called the toll free number on the back of my bank card and spoke to a gentleman at JPMorgan Chase who researched the number.  He stated that not only was my account fine but that 224 222 5000 is not a chase number and that the number does not belong to chase fraud dept.  They are actually investigating this phone number.  So, please do not provide any personal information to someone calling you from that number. IT'S A SCAM!!!! PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE ANY OF THESE BLOGGERS WHO SAY THAT THIS IS A LEGITIMATE PHONE NUMBER (it may just be the scammers). I HAVE ALREADY REPORTED THE SCAM TO CHASE AT , "abuse@chase.com".IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION, DO NOT BE STUPID GUYS!!!!.......CALL THE TOLL FREE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR BANK OR CREDIT CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  DON'T BE SCAMMED THAT EASILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The number is from the COLLECTIONS DEPARTMENT at Chase. I owe them a $20k+ and they just called me from this number. I explained to them that I wasn't working and that they should probably stop calling me. The woman offered a much lower payment and I again explained my situation. They said they would note the account, thank you for your time and that they would cease calls for two weeks but be resuming calls after.  So continue to believe that it's a scam.....I'm just sharing what MY experience was regarding this number. I owe JPMC, I received a call from Chase Card Services, and I spoke to someone at Chase regarding my delinquent account. The only thing I can think of as to why people think its a scam is because maybe people are being a little too cautious. Sometimes the Cust Servc Reps that answer the phone when you call the number on the back of your card do not recognize every single number that Chase uses to call their customers from. I can only imagine that there are many different numbers used by Chase to call customers. I know this to be true cause they have called me from a bunch of different numbers in the past. The numbers 407-771-0887 & 224-699-6000 were also used by Chase Card Services to collect on my very past due balance.

I read all the posts stating this was CHASE.  My account has been closed for 2 years.  I opeted to call CHASE from their customer service number listed on their website.  The employee stated that is was a fraud call and someone fishing for credit card information.  He told me the account is closed and there is now way anyone can commit faud on a closed account.  He stated to NEVER give your SSN out on the phone unless you are calling the number on the back of your card.  Be smart people!!

224-222-5000 This is Chase using the "Spoof" method to call you. Spoofing is a service that allows any number you want to show on the caller id when you call someone. They are using a local are code in hopes you will think its someone near you. What they probably don't realize is this 224 area code is only used for cell numbers in the Lake County, IL area.

Hi    After receiving a couple phone calls from this # and reading what people had to say, I called the Chase phone # on the back of my card.   Chase does not recognize this # as one of theirs!   It is a scam.

I got a call from 224-222-5000.  My husband answered the phone but thought it was a scam.  The next day I got an e-mail from Amazon Chase suggesting my account had some suspicious activity.  I went to Amazon and checked my account history and did indeed find an unauthorized charge.
I then called the number on the back of the card, asked for more information on that charge and verified that there was indeed an unauthorized amount charged to my account.  Chase noticed the fradulent activity only five days after it was made.
If you call the number on the back of the Chase card you can verify if the call you get is legit or not.

This numbe 224-222-5000 just called my cell phone.  I didn't answer, so they left a message asking for my husband and telling me to call a 1-800 number.  In the background, I heard someone scream "Hell yeah!"  This number is definitely fake, 100%.... we called our real credit card company and they confirmed that it's a scam and never to answer it.  They also said that NO LEGITIMATE COMPANY will actually "NEED" your social security number......they have account numbers for a reason!

I received a call from this number 224-222-5000.  The lady's name was Emma.  She has called my cell phone, home phone and work phone stating that she was calling from Chase Fraud.  "Chase" appeared on my home caller id.   I previously had fraud on my account so Chase had issued me a new card.  She was saying something happened on my old card and listed the last 4 digits of that card number. The lady didn't sound very professional, but always uses the same script. She would say that she works Sunday-Thursday from 5:30 to 2 am.  The number she gives is 866-582-7130 ext. 17032.  Since I have had fraud on my account in the past, I was leary of this caller.  I checked my email.  Traditionally, if there are charges that I did not make, they will send me an email as well.  There was no email.  Also, they will put a freeze on my card and the card still works.  I called the Chase number from their website and questioned them about it.  They said they didn't show anything like this and that any charges from my old number would have been forwarded to the new card so there was nothing to worry about.  I told them I would not be calling this individual back.  She called again last night; I will probably forward this number and any info I have to the Chase email address for fraud.  Hopefully they will investigate it further and let me know.  I find all the posts on here so odd that some would be legit and others not...but I would just recommend that you call the main number for Chase, not the number provided by the caller.

Just got a call from this number.  The lady leaving the message was Christina from Chase fraud department, and left the number 866-582-7130.  I called Chase (the number on the back of my card) and asked them if the number was truly a Chase number.  I was told yes.  When I talked with the person, I offered up no information, and she recited back data to me about a previous fraud dispute I had that was still open.

This is definitely Chase Card Services calling to verify personal information in connection with a British Airways Chase Visa Card I applied for last night.  When I called back, I did not have the reference number they gave me and I did not want to give them my full social security number on the line.  The woman said that she could not access my file with out either number but that she was sure that they would call me back.  Sure enough, about five minutes later, someone called back to say that they were processing my credit card application.  As part of the process of identification, she read me five addresses and asked me to pick one of them as my last address.  She read me five birthdates and asked me to pick the correct birthday.  She read me five employers and asked me to pick the correct employer.  I did so.  I have no reason to believe that this was  scam because I DID apply for the card and they DID have the correct personal information taken from my credit report.  She did NOT ask for my social security number or any passwords.  Although some writers below thought this is a scam, I believe that it is completely legitimate.
