i dont know what you folks are talking about but this has Fraud written all over it. I called chase twice and both times they told me its fraud. so who ever is saying it legit u must be working for the company. Be aware call chase and do ur dealings with them. The chase rep said they would never use a number beginning with 224 and they checked their phone database and both these numbers were non existant.

Chase Credit Card Fraud Prevention Department. LEGITIMATE. Just to be safe, always call them back with the customer service number printed on the back of your credit card.

Scam. I don't have any type of Chase account. Yet they want my SSN#.  No legit financial company will ask you for your SSN# over the phone unless you are trying to get something from them.   Last four digits or current address yes but not your your full SSN#   The scammers have taken to posting false endorsements to keep their scam alive.  Their posts are laughable encouraging you to give up your social.

Don't be paranoid, this is legit.  I got a call, went into a Chase branch, the employee called the Chase Freedom department (NOT the number that had called me) and they were the ones who had placed the call.  I do agree that this call was a little sketchy, but it was not a coincidence that I had indeed applied for a credit card and they had my info.  They just verified my identity, did not ask for SSN or anything too sensitive.  So, for what it's worth, you don't have to worry.  But as others have said, if you're concerned, do your own homework and check them out.  No reason to worry.

I got this call about 8:30 pm on the 20th of August, 2011. I called it back and it was linked to Chase USA (which Chase never answers their phones this way). The banker confirmed that this is A FRAUD NUMBER. She checked in their computer system and said in no way is this linked to their banking centers. She checked my personal accounts and verified that there is no activity on them. The company that called, Chase USA, did NOT leave me a voice-mail regarding any sort of activity on my account or even asking for a return phone call. The woman on the phone also said all you people who are saying it IS a legit number are likely just trying to push the scam along. If you are a chase member and ARE concerned about fraudulent activity on your accounts, call the 800 associated with Chase (found via google or your bank records) and have them transfer you back to the fraud department, that way you're keeping it internally through a number YOU contacted. We had fraudulent activity on our accounts in the past and I got a phone call FROM chase, NOT Chase USA, and I told them I wasn't sure about the incoming call and so I wanted to call them back and verify so I called via the 800 number I had saved in my phone book and got connected with the fraud department and it was confirmed that yes we were scammed on our account. So, moral of the story, if you are a chase member yes, you MIGHT get called about activity, but ALWAYS call them back, never accept that call as a legit call and any company (banking especially) will understand when you request to call them and discuss the matter. And as always, don't be dumb, DON'T give your info over the phone, that's ASKING for trouble!

Chase would not call you from a non-800 prefix. This is a link to their Contact Us site for fraud.

I got a call from 224-222-5000 asking for "David Flower".  It sounded like a computer synthesized voice claiming to be "Brian from Chase Card Services, Customer Support Division".  They asked me to call them back at 800-217-5964

As everyone should do, I called Chase at the number on the back of my Chase Debit Card.  They said that "Card Services is closed today", (it's Labor Day) and that "800-217-5964 is not one of ours"  They also said, "Do not provide your account number to anyone who calls.  If we're calling you, Chase already has that information."

    In short, it's a scam.

I just called Chase using the number on my credit card regarding this call I received today from the same number, and they said they absolutely did NOT call me, that there is no fraud on the account, and they asked for the number so they could investigate. Please do not give these idiots your sensitive data!

Anything you read here that suggests this is legit are scammers trying to keep their scam alive. DO NOT GIVE THESE IDIOTS YOUR INFORMATION. I received a call from 224-222-5000 and they asked for someone I'm not. However, I wanted to check with Chase anyway, so I called Chase directly. There was no notice of them calling me regarding the account--in fact, I had to update my number with them. They still had my Brooklyn number, so even if they had wanted to call me about fraud, they couldn't. They were very concerned about this scam and asked for the phone number. I gave it to them. They are investigating.

This number is a legitimate number.

I also was called by this number and it was identified as "Chase" on my caller ID.  The person said they were the Chase Fraud Department.  They asked if I am the person on the card.  Then I was asked if I made three purchases, which I confirmed that I made.    They asked me if my credit card was denied when I made any purchases.  I responded "No".  Then I was asked if I had made purchases in another state.  It happens I did make some purchases in that state.  However, when asked if I made purchases at a particular store in a specific city, I replied no.  I was then told they denied three purchases made under the card.  I got online, looked at my account and recent purchases and found several that I had not made.  They assured me that I would not need to pay for those purchases.  They immediately cancelled my credit card and told me they'll send me another one via overnight mail.  Within minutes, my account was no longer available on-line.

I received my new credit card within 2 days.  The new card information, including my previous information is now available on-line.

In addition, they contacted the 3 major credit bureaus to ensure that this will not affect my credit.  I verified this the following day with TransUnion, who told me that my account has been put on special notice because of credit card fraud.  No new accounts can be opened under my name without my express approval.

I love Chase Bank (no, I have no affiliation with them other than a checking account and two credit cards.)  I have NEVER received such support from any other credit card provider.  To my knowledge, at least $1500 were fraudulently charged against my credit card, and I will not be responsible for paying for it.

FYI:  I was never asked to provide any type of personal information, such as my social security card number, account number, address, etc.

Just got off the phone with Chase using the number on the back of my card.  This is a scam...one point the rep noted is that the 224-222-5000 is not even a toll free number.  What got me suspicious is the message that was left on my machine said the person would only be available from 6PM - 3AM.  My account is not having any problems

It is a scam.  Just got off the phone with Chase.  Only call the number on the back of your card.  Don't believe the above comments saying it is a legitimate number.  This is a large scam and they are posting here to trick you into calling.

Only call the number on the back of your card.

This is Chase but not with Fraud services as stated in a few posts.  My account with Chase is closed and so therefore there can not be any fraud.  Calling me about an "offer".  Not calling them back not interested an any offers.

Missed a call from this number today and had a voice msg stating they're chase fraud dept and gave me a reference number. Called back and the rep told me it's about the fraud alert in my credit report coz I applied for chase freedom visa card recently. They asked for my birthday and one of my previous address, no SSN, so I think it might be okay.
