- Phil JohnsonGot a call from someone claiming to be from Chase saying there was fraud on my credit card account. The last 4 digits they quoted me were incorrect, I think they were from an older card that had that got cancelled 8 months ago because of fraud. I called the number on the back of my chase card and they confirmed that the caller was NOT from chase, and that it WAS a phishing scheme.
As many others have said, do NOT give anyone who calls you from this number ANY information. When in doubt, hang up and call the number on the back of your card.- Caller: fake chase
- daveReceived a call from this number claiming to be Chase fraud dept. Called the number on my card and they could not verify that anyone had called me from Chase and they had no notes on my accounts. Reported to chase abuse.
Having read several entries in this thread, I think it is entirely possible that a scammer is spoofing a legitimate chase number in caller ID - TomThis is not a scam, it's the Chase fraud dept. You can ignore the incoming call and call the number on your card, and they will get you to the Fraud group in one hop - very easy, and there were real charges that they wanted me to confirm were legit (in my case they were, hope you are that lucky too).
- Caller: Chase
- NoodleAccording to Chase, this is a fraudulent number. Always call the number on the back if your card to verify anything.
- Caller: Chase/fake
- CJS replies to JAYTEEUse lower case; it's easier to read and doesn't come across as screaming.
- CJSGot a call over an hour ago and missed it; no message left and [No Name] appears on cell phone.
- JulieI got a call from this number and I HAVE applied for a Chase card recently. However, they said they would contact me by US MAIL, not phone. I think this is a scam.
- Pick Up the PhoneThis is a real call. It's the Chase Fraud department confirming activity on your account. I answered the call and they never once asked me for any verifying information like a social security number or anything that could be construed as a scam. I called them back, just to confirm and Chase picked up. It's legit.
- Caller: Chase Fraud Department
- NoNonsenseI missed a call from this number and have read many of the posts here after I decided to check it out. But get this, I don't have a Chase account, nor have I ever applied for any type of account with them.
- MelanieThe number is legit. I didn't answer given the many comments saying it was phishing. But I just called the number on back of the chase card and they had a note that they attempted to call me regarding a different shipping address I used for a recent purchase. The rep said they have several numbers they call from. However, even the rep said to go ahead and still call the 800 number on the back of the card to make sure!
- Caller: Chase
- AngieThis was a call from Chase Fraud Services checking to make sure I had actually applied for one of their cards a week ago. I have a fraud alert notice set up on my credit report because of a stolen computer years ago and this prompted their call. This was a legitimate call from Chase to ensure that I was the one who applied for the credit card.
- Caller: Chase
- Eddie Dykes replies to customerI agree, I think the person I was talking to today was in Bangladash. I finally gave the phone to my wife....
- Lucia BeltranI dont have an account from this.......................
- thuiThis is not a legit# from Chase. Missed a call from this#, looked it up online and saw that people have claimed that it's really from Chase - IT'S NOT! I called Chase, they were confused, told me they did not try to call me today and all my accounts are fine....
- KirstenI got a call from the 224-222-5000 number and ignored it. I looked the number up and it took me to this site.. I ended up calling the phone number on the back of my Chase card since a lot of people on here saying it was Chases Fraud Dept. They asked a few questions to confirm who I was (They didn't ask for my SS#). They told me they wanted to confirm some purchases I had made, you will want to call the direct number that's on the back of your card because they will have to activate your card again since they froze your account. The guy I talked to was pretty nice and it was fast and simple.
- Caller: Chase
- ag replies to DancerYes... the 'girl' who called me just now was very rude as well - I did not give any info - and she actually threatened me with shutting down all my credit cards??? 'HOW' do they get our personal information in the first place??? :-(
- Dan| 1 replyThis number is both a legitimate number and it's spoofed by a scam company. However the scammer's real phone number is not displayed, only the spoofed Chase one. I received a dozen calls and I am not even a Chase customer. If you want to be safe, ignore the call and, instead, use the number on the back of your card to call Chase.
- Caller: Chase
- BeenThere replies to DanSorry, Dan. It may be legitimate, but it is not a Chase #. Access the Chase web site and enter it or any follow up # and see what happens. I wonder how many people realize that the person calling from this number to report a fraud charge on a card is the person who made it. You are right to be safe and call the number on the back of your card, but then these people feel that validates the original call because the charges shows up. Give me a break! I cannot repeat in forceful enough words that this number is a phishing scam.
- Brian| 1 replyThis is legitimate. It is Chase Card Services. However, they called at 5:45 AM and I didn't appreciate that!
- Caller: Chase Card Services
- Good Luck replies to BrianI accessed the Chase Credit Card Services web site, entered this number, and got the following message: Your search matched 0 documents in the entire Chase site. However, I hope you gave the early callers your credit card number, security number, and SSN--if you have one. I guarantee they will appreciate that!
