- BrettAs others have said, this number is Bank Of America, but you should never give out personal info on an incoming call. Always hang up and call the official number of the company before going into personal details.
The first two times they called, I let it go to voicemail but they didn't leave a message. The third time, they left a recorded message saying it was Bank of America's fraud department.
I logged into my online banking and saw that my credit card was flagged and I needed to call them. The website gave me a BOA Card Services number to call, so I called there and settled what I needed to. I'm sure it would have been handled just as well from this number instead, but it's just good policy to call the company directly yourself.- Caller: Bank of America
- jacegot a call from this number shortly after buying things online, the forms I filled out I had to fill out my phone number. When I called the number back, they said hello can I have your account number i think it is a scam
- irritatedIt's an urgent call from Bank of America's credit card fraud department, so answer it! I noted an odd charge of $1.13 from APL MOBILEME on my online account and notified the bank. They were unable to assist me because the charge had not cleared and was only pending. Then, another charge appeared from the same vendor this morning and I received a phone call from the NEWARK number. Unfortunately, my phone line is protected by a TeleZapper, which knocked down the bank's computer generated call. Another suspicious charge from APL MOBILEME came through and the bank locked down the account.
Everyone should check their online accounts and see if they can sign up for email alerts for charges made without the card being swiped in an electronic card reader. BOA has this option and was useful in cutting short the fraud on my account.- Caller: Bank of America Fraud Department
- AndreaI attempted to make a payment for an gaming program online and I did not have my credit card handy, so I guessed on my CVC2 code. The next morning my phone rang twice with this number. I Googled it and ended up here. Bank of America has NEVER asked for my Credit Card number before, so I am pretty sure that from the reports I see below this is infact a scam. I will get in touch with Bank of American later this weekend and I'll post my findings.
- Do not call meCaller claimed to be from a company called: Card Services, which monitor bank accounts. But the first thing they ask was my Credit card number. I assume some people do give out their number, that is why they keep trying. (first comment on this page is dated 2007, two years later and they keep trying, how do we stop them?)
- Caller: Card Services?
- puckIt is Bank of America.
I never answer unknown call numbers. I received a fraud alert from BoA in my email and called the number listed on the official site to clear it up. Hours after that, this number tried calling again and left an automated message about me needing to contact regarding my account. It provided my name and last 4 of the card in question, as well as a call back number that was not the origination number, but the exact official BoA number I had used earlier in the day. It is NOT a scam. Even so, I would recommend anyone getting a similar call to hang up and call the official number directly. - scubaI received 3 calls from this number today. I did not listen to the message completely because it was automated, and I figured it was some advertisement. But after the third call, I Googled this number and found this site. Realizing the call could have come from Bank of America, I checked my Bank of America online transactions to see if there was anything out of the ordinary because I have not used this credit card for a long time. And there was! I was charged by Posterpass.com for a purchase I have never made. The charge was still Pending. I called the 1800 Customer Service of Bank of America to dispute the charge. They said to call the Billing Dept. after the charge has actually gone through my account (not Pending anymore).
- Spike10302-731-1166 'Card Services F..." called just after I had placed an online order paid w/ a credit card. When I answered the call, the person just kept asking for my credit card number.
- PeepeethI got a call from 302-731-1166 to inform me to verify either my last 4-digit SSN or zip code and about possible fraudulent of one of my BOA credit card with ending 4-digit number. I hanged up and called back bank of america credit card and found they needed to verify some of my recent transactions. I believe this phone no. was from BOA but for your own protection, do not punch in any number. Just get info, hang up, call back and talk to live representative. Your 4-digit ssn and zip code are confidential. Do not key in without knowing who really call you.

- BrianTo everyone thanking BOA for "protecting their credit", keep in mind that the Truth In Lending Act limits your liability for unauthorized card purchases, so BOA is, in fact, only acting in their own interest. They are trying to reduce their loss rate by summarily suspending customer accounts, and forcing customers to clear purchases and travel with them.
In other words, don't bother thanking Bank of America - they've basically found yet another way around customer protection laws and are hassling you, their customer, as a means to increase their bottom line. The whole "security" explanation IS A LIE.- Caller: Bank of America
- Z to the JThis number has called me several times and I just ignored it. Today I checked my voicemail and after 10+ calls and 20 days they left a voicemail.
Something about BofA Fraud department. I called them back and they were able to see recent activity on my BofA credit account. I figured it was legit. I had them cancel the card and dispute $40 to a porn site(why pay for porn?) and two charges for $1 at Apple(screw you Apple DRM). After getting off the phone I became curious and Googled the number leading me back here where there is mixed information regarding the legitimacy of the phone number. I became very nervous and called the BofA number on the back of my card and confirmed that YES THE NUMBER IS LEGIT. They apparently cycle these call back number on a weekly basis to prevent Call ID spoofing and other fraudulent activities. THE NUMBER IS LEGIT. the representative at 18007329194 confirmed that the number was legit and that the fraud "fixing" was already in progress.- Caller: Bank of America Fraud Department
- LyndaI received a call from 302 731-1166 (they left no message) and found this page when I googled the number. I called the 1800 number on the back of my B of A card and they transferred me to the fraud dept. Apparently they had questioned a charge that was made to my card over the weekend and just wanted to verify. The woman said that B of A has a call center in Delaware and that it was a legit call.

- Bthat # is legit- It really was BofA calling. HOWEVER, when i tried to call the 1800 # to verify it with the bank, i got a rude ass lady on the phone telling me "Yeah, we just call you" and "We have lots of # that we use"--is that all i can help you with today--didn't even say thanks for calling and just hang up on me!!!!! get some better costumer service personals.
- Wayne MizukiThey called twice today, 02/01/2010. I did not answer and they did not leave a message.

- TedReceived call today from 302 731 1166 and answered but hung up.
I tried to call them several times but busy all the time.- Caller: unknown
- sherriBased on what I am reading here and when I got the call, I think it is BOA too. Just got the call...which I did not take since it was on silent. It came right after I got an email about fraudulent activity on my BOA Mastercard. I resolved the issue online. The caller did not leave a message either, which is fine, because maybe they think it may be a goon having my phone. Whatever.
- Caller: bank of america
- RebmomaWhen I spoke with the BofA representative, I suggested that they leave a message on first contact because they are causing confusion about the legitimacy of these calls. No need to heighten fears. I was advised that one can always call the 800 number on the back (which is how I contacted them). I would reiterate that.
In this case, I had tried to pay for an expensive subscription overseas with my BofA card. It was declined until I approved it this morining.
Surprisingly the automated system asked for my complete SSN. Since I called them, I gave it, but I do wonder why the last four digits wouldn't have been adequate given all of the other verifications that they make (such as asking for the card number all over again). You would think banks would try to make fraud more evident, not engage in confusing practices.- Caller: Bank of America
- KMA| 1 replyI have gotten frequent calls from this number until today - when i got 2 only hours apart. After googlng the number and reading the posts, i will continue to ignore it. I don't even have a BoA card or account, so figured it's not legit. I never answer calls on my cell unless there is a name or i recognize the number. if they want me badly enough they will leave a message. If they don't then......
- ScottDEN replies to KMATHIS IS LEGIT! I have just begun using my old BoA credit card again after finally getting a balance transfer paid off. For the first time in a year, I used it this morning at Lowe's, Safeway, and the Post Office - then got the call - spooky, yet also comforting to know that they are monitoring customer accounts!
- ladybugI had a phone call from this number without message, looked up number and found that most reported it to be BOA. I checked my account and sure enough someone was trying to process charges that were not from me. This is fraud service from BOA. Act on it right away to protect yourself!!!
